Electronic commerce consumers prefer debit cards over credit cards
Thus, as of the third quarter of 2020, and they carried out around 394 million operations in electronic commerce, 30% more compared to the same period of 2019.
The debit card stands out, whose operations grew 40% in number and 71% in its amount compared to 2019; In contrast, credit card purchases only increased 11% in number and 16% in amount.
As happened in the second quarter of 2020, in the third, the behavior of consumption through the Internet was more cautious by giving preference to the use of the debit card; In other words, opting for the use of own resources on the credit granted through a card, due to the economic and practical effects caused by the pandemic and
the healthy distance, explained the agency in a statement.
