This was considered by Dr. Juan Ortiz Garrido , coordinator of information and strategic analysis of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) in Hidalgo, who recommended that citizens avoid leaving home and live these traditional festivals as a family.

"It is difficult to estimate an exact number of possible infections in the entity, because it would depend on knowing how many people are going to move or leave, but we do expect an increase in cases by an average of 10 to 15 percent more," said the specialist.

In this sense, he explained that there are still many people who consider that children and adolescents are immune to the disease, a situation that he denied because this sector of the population may not present symptoms, but they would be the carriers of the virus, which would affect people in most vulnerable health situation that live with them

“It has been mistakenly thought that girls, boys and adolescents do not suffer anything, they do get sick and have problems, but not in the same dimension that can happen to older people, but they are the vehicle of infection of older people who, at the end of the day, they are the ones who suffer the most and the ones who can be hospitalized or even lose their lives due to the disease ”, he explained.

Also, Ortiz Garrido warned that the transmission of the virus could occur even in the sweets that minors receive during their journey through the streets, since there are asymptomatic cases that could transmit the disease during the delivery of the sweets or toys that acquire

"The same sweets that they receive could be a source of infection because if there is an asymptomatic person who coughs or sneezes, or blows the bag open and places the sweets there, they can infect the material."
"It must be remembered that the virus survives certain hours on surfaces, and if that person or the minor touches the sweets, they do not wash their hands, as it could be infected," he said.

Finally, he emphasized not to lower his guard against the pandemic, following the sanitary protocol recommended by the authorities , "so you must continue to use the mask correctly, the use of antibacterial gel and, if possible, hand washing constant, that the areas where they are are ventilated, the healthy distance and, above all, that they stay at home ", he concluded.
