Report: WWE Thought 2point0's Promos Were "Too Pro-Wrestling"

Matt Lee and Jeff Parker signed with WWE in 2019 as Ever-Rise and they were used on NXT and 205 Live as fodder for more-pushed tag teams. The team would also make appearances backstage promoting their Ever-Rise Live Facebook show, during which they would be used as the butt of the joke.

Ever-Rise have since been released by WWE and signed with AEW as 2point0, and they have become featured acts on Dynamite and Rampage, working with the likes of Jon Moxley, Sting, Darby Allin, CM Punk and Eddie Kingston alongside Daniel Garcia.

Speaking about 2point0 on We're Live Pal, Andrew Zarian noted WWE thought the tag team's promos were "too pro-wrestling", something the company believed to be a problem.

"I spoke to someone over there [in WWE] and I said, 'Well, what was the problem with them?' because they were doing that podcast thing, and he looked at me and said, 'The promos were too pro-wrestling.' And he [shrugged]. He knew how ridiculous that sounds," Zarian said.

WWE and Vince McMahon have often tried to avoid professional wrestling during his time in charge of the company, even going so far as to refer to WWE as sports entertainment.
