AEW All Out results: Ruby Soho debuts, wins Casino Battle Royale

Cageside Seats 05 September, 2021 - 09:07pm

Probably the right call, as a battle royal features time-filling stretches where the crowd could recompose themselves, and the group entry gimmick & future title shot stipulation guarantee at least some interest in the match.

Clubs were first (the 21 women draw cards and enter in suits of five, with whoever gets the joker entering last) - Hikaru Shida, Skye Blue, Emi Sakura, the Bunny, and Abadon. Hometown hero Blue and the scary Abadon were eliminated before the Diamonds were announced/

Anna Jay was first, and didn’t waste any time going after Bunny. She was followed by Kiera Hogan, KiLynn King, Diamante, and Nyla Rose. Several women are eliminated before the Hearts are out, many of them dumped by Rose. Thunder Rosa immediately goes after Nyla, as Penelope Ford, Riho, Jamie Hayter, and Big Swole follow her into the match.

Spades, consists of Tay Conti (who quickly joins her friend Jay against Bunny), Red Velvet, Leyla Hirsch, Jade Cargill, and Rebel. Nyla ended Cargill’s brief run, then it was Joker time, and it seems somebody had to catch a quick flight to Chicago after she finally got to NYC...

Ruby Soho was the crowd favorite among the final three, which consisted of fka Heidi Lovelace, Rose and Rosa. The former NWA Women’s champ sent the first ever AEW Women’s champ to the floor, and Ruby and Thunder squared up amidst dueling chants from the Chicagoland faithful.

And then there were two: @realrubysoho and @thunderrosa22#AEWAllOut pic.twitter.com/KNQGOF6uDl

They battled to the apron, and after fighting out of a carry hold, Soho kicks Rose into the ring post, which sends her tumbling to the floor.

Ruby’s Destination is now known, and it’s not just AEW... it’s a match against Women’s champion Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D.

The Lucha Brothers win the AEW Tag Team Championships in an incredible match at All Out 2021

Sportskeeda 05 September, 2021 - 09:02pm

The Lucha Brothers captured the AEW Tag Team Championships in a gruesome and brutal Steel Cage match against The Young Bucks at All Out 2021. Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo put an end to Matt and Nick Jackson's title reign, which lasted for nearly ten months.

Both teams made flashy, elaborate entrances but still managed to top that with their sheer brilliance inside the ring. Though Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Meido quickly unleashed a flurry of offense once the match began, The Young Bucks soon found their way back in.

The AEW Tag Team Champions began brutalizing the Lucha Bros, with the Chicago crowd firmly booing them. While Fenix and Penta did get to hit some offense, the middle portions were dominated by Matt and Nick Jackson.

Brandon Cutler, The Young Bucks' Elite stablemate, threw a thumbtack-laden shoe into the ring. Matt Jackson used it to put down Penta first and then Fenix. The AEW Tag Team Championships used many underhanded tactics, including laying down Lucha Brothers with low blows.

However, despite being brutalized to such an extent, Fenix and Penta finally made a comeback in the match. Fenix delivered a jaw-dropping Avalanche Canadian Destroyer to Matt Jackson, which turned the tide in favor of the challengers.

The four competitors then exchanged a series of superkicks that left the fans enthralled. By the end of it, Fenix made his way to the top of the steel structure.

Though Nick Jackson also tried to follow Fenix to the top, the Luchador kicked him down. Fenix then delivered a stunning crossbody from the top and followed it with a Pedigree Driver on Nick Jackson for the win, all while Penta ensured Matt Jackson couldn't break the pin.

As expected, the crowd erupted in joy to see Lucha Brothers capture the AEW Tag Team Championships for the first time in the company.

Ruby Soho Debuts At AEW All Out, Wins Casino Battle Royale

The match eventually came down to Soho, Thunder Rosa, and Nyla Rose. Rosa managed to eliminate Rose, before beginning an extended sequence with Soho. The two eventually fought to the apron, with a number of elimination teases. After staggering Rosa, Soho knocked her off the apron with the Riott Kick to win.

With the victory, Soho earns a Women's title shot at champion Dr. Britt Baker.

AEW confirmed Soho's signing with the promotion with a different take on the usual "is All Elite" graphic.

For her entrance, Soho entered to "Ruby Soho" by Rancid.

Soho was released from WWE on June 2, just days after she teamed with Liv Morgan in a loss to Natalya and Tamina on SmackDown. She signed to WWE in December 2017, and debuted on the main roster one year later, as part of The Riott Squad with Morgan and Sarah Logan.

Dr. Britt Baker DMD is still your women’s champion

Cageside Seats 05 September, 2021 - 08:01pm

Hey, there’s a reason CM Punk specifically shouted her out in his return promo.

As for Kris Statlander, she was out of action for eight months after suffering a knee injury but it was clear there were bigger things lined up for her. She quickly went on a winning streak upon her return and eventually became top contender.

They got down to it at All Out tonight (Sun., Sept. 5, 2021) in Chicago, the women’s championship on the line.

The match was solid, save for a scary suplex from the top rope that Statlander struggled to get Baker over for. Late in the match, Statlander was on the outside, having taken a curb stomp and Orange Cassidy got uncharacteristically hyped to get her back in the match.

Baker hit a Pittsburgh Sunrise — which the crowd went insane for, and sure felt like a tease — for two, another curb stomp for two, and then the Lockjaw to score the submission victory.

AEW Star Working On A New Gimmick? - Wrestling Inc.

Wrestling Inc. 05 September, 2021 - 01:34pm

AEW star Kip Sabian hasn’t wrestled since May 24 and underwent successful arm surgery in mid-May.

His last appearance on AEW TV was on April 28, thanks to a backstage attack from Miro. The current TNT Champion was not happy at the time about their loss to Chuck Taylor and Orange Cassidy in an Arcade Anarchy Match.

Sabian now looks to be potentially working on a new gimmick, posting a photo of himself wearing a suit and box over his head with the words, “underrated, over it” on the box. There’s also a sand timer on the side of the box.

“Time doesn’t heal…It changes you…” Sabian wrote in the caption.

During this weekend’s AEW All Out Fan Fest, Sabian did an unadvertised meet and greet with fans and scribbled different messages over his 8×10 photos.

On many of them he scratched out his face and wrote “no” as to indicate he’s not long connecting with that character. In the videos, it didn’t sound like Sabian talked at all with the fans that came up to him.

Tony Khan asks hometown wrestler to be injury replacement for women’s Casino Battle Royale

Cageside Seats 04 September, 2021 - 08:46pm

Chicago’s Skye Blue competed against Red Velvet. Blue had full support from the crowd popping them with a flying crossbody. Blue rallied by ducking a pair of head kicks to score a roll-up. Velvet kicked out, so Blue unloaded a thrust kick and a DDT.

Back and forth action between @Thee_Red_Velvet and @Skyebyee on a special Saturday night #AEWDark. Watch NOW: https://t.co/ljLGbpUlno pic.twitter.com/MiNAKpwQMu

Despite Blue’s strong effort, Velvet put her away with the Final Slice.

Blue must have made a positive impression, because Khan came out to offer her a spot in the Casino Battle Royale. It looked like that news was a complete surprise to Blue.

If you’re counting at home, Blue would make 21 participants. So, no surprise entrant, you ask? Not so fast, my friend.

Julia Hart was put out of action by the rudo pair of Nyla Rose and Jade Cargill. Hart was victorious earlier in the evening against Heather Reckless, but milk didn’t do her body good. It appeared that Hart tweaked her knee on a handspring axe kick in the corner. She persevered to achieve success with a running splits bulldog to win.

As Hart hyped her spot in the Casino Battle Royale, the bullies rolled in to damage her knee with a steel chair. Hart is officially out.

BREAKING: #AEW doctors won’t clear @TheJuliaHart to compete in tomorrow's Casino Battle Royale due to the injuries from this attack by @NylaRoseBeast and @Jade_Cargill earlier on #AEWDark. pic.twitter.com/AwJMFzCNX6

It seems like that scene was a story reason to cover for a real injury.

Yes my leg hurts. That’s all I gotta say right now.

Blue will join Nyla Rose, Thunder Rosa, Bunny, Big Swole, Tay Conti, Diamante, Penelope Ford, Red Velvet, Hikaru Shida, Emi Sakura, Jade Cargill, Kiera Hogan, Abadon, Leyla Hirsch, KiLynn King, Reba, Jamie Hayter, Anna Jay, and Riho as twenty of the contenders.

What are the odds Skye Blue can play Cinderella to win the Casino Battle Royale at All Out?
