The road to GO Fest 2021 has begun. On Sunday, July 18th, 2021, the second day of GO Fest in Pokémon GO, every Legendary Pokémon that has ever been in raids will return for a block of battles during the day. As we count down the days until the event launches, Bleeding Cool will host a series of mini raid guides that offers the top 10 overall counters and then the top 10 non-Shadow and non-Mega counters. In addition to this, these guides will point out species with shared weaknesses so that you can create raid squads with multiple uses. Finally, each guide ends with a breakdown of the raid schedule for GO Fest 2021: Day Two. This guide will focus on Frost Hour: Articuno.

Pokémon Go Fest 2021 has more moving parts than most events that Niantic puts on, and that is with it just running over two days.
Depending on when you are playing, you will be dealing with different bonuses, rewards, and content that typically change every hour. Specifically for day two, which runs on July 18 from 10am to 6pm local time, every Legendary Pokémon that has ever been available in Pokémon Go will be back in the raid rotation.
Niantic is splitting it up like the habitat rotations, using four individual raid hours, Wind, Lava, Frost, and Thunder Hours, to divide up which Pokémon are appearing in five-star raids.
For the Frost Hour, which will run at 12pm and 4pm local time, players will encounter Water and Ice-type Pokémon, with the addition of the regional exclusive Lake Trio. If you want to brave the wintery atmosphere, here are every event-exclusive Legendary Pokémon raids in Pokémon Go Fest 2021 Raid Day’s Frost Hour. You should also keep an eye out for Hoopa’s rings at 2am local time ahead of the event changing.

The Legendary Pokémon is weak to water, ice, and grass moves.
To take Groudon down, build up a team of Pokémon with ice-, water-, or grass-type moves. The best Groudon counters and movesets are:
Different weather boosts different types, too. Sunny or clear weather boosts grass-type moves, snow boosts ice-type moves, and rain boosts water-type moves.
Once you have a Groudon, set it up with Mud Shot and Earthquake to make it a great ground-type attacker. Using Solar Beam as a charge move is actually quite good if you need a grass-type attacker.

Get a fire dog of your very own
Entei is weak against water-, ground-, and rock-type moves, so stick to those when facing off against it. Entei best counters include the following:
Vaporeon, Groudon, and fully evolved water starters will also get the job done fairly well if you lack any of the absolute units we listed above.
Keep the weather in mind, as different conditions will boost different move types. Sunny or clear weather boosts ground-type moves, rainy weather boosts water-type moves, and partly cloudy weather boosts rock-type moves.
Entei does the best with Fire Spin and Overheat.
Entei isn’t the best fire-type attacker, but if you manage to grab a Shadow Entei from Team Go Rocket, it’ll do way more damage. (You cannot get Shadow Pokémon from raids. You can only get it from Team Go Rocket Research.)

The final Legendary Sword of Justice has arrived
Virizion is grass- and fighting-type, making it extremely weak against flying-type moves. It’s also weak to poison-, fire-, psychic-, ice-, and fairy-type moves. We recommend any of the following:
To emphasize again: Use flying-type moves. If you have a powerful Mewtwo with Confusion and Psystrike, that will also work, but Virizion’s doubled-up weakness to flying-type moves make it hard to use anything else.
Windy weather will boost flying- and psychic-type moves, sunny weather boosts fire-type moves, snow boosts ice-type moves, and cloudy weather boosts fairy- and poison-type moves. Definitely take weather boosts into account, but again, nothing really beats flying-type moves in this raid.
The best moveset for Virizion is Quick Attack with Leaf Blade, but we strongly suggest saving your TMs for something else. There are a lot of grass-types that out-damage Virizion, like Roserade, Sceptile, Venusaur, and even Leafeon.
