Why isn't Frank on American Pickers?

Fritz's last episode aired in March 2020. He did not return for the series' most recent batch of episodes, which were filmed amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, citing back surgery and ongoing complications from Crohn's disease. Meanwhile, Fritz tells UK tabloid The Sun that he and Wolfe have fallen out of touch. tvline.comAmerican Pickers' Frank Fritz Not Returning to History Channel Series Amid Feud With Co-Host Mike Wolfe

Mike Wolfe says he'll miss Fritz and wishes him the best on his next venture. Read his full statement below:

"I have known Frank for as long as I can remember, he's been like a brother to me. The journey that Frank, Dani (Danielle), and I started back in 2009, like all of life, has come with its highs and lows, blessings and challenges, but it has also been the most rewarding. I will miss Frank, just like all of you, and I pray for the very best and all good things for him on the next part of his journey."

Previously: It's a wrap for Frank Fritz on American Pickers.

A source close to production tells EW that the History Channel show has no plans to bring Fritz back and he doesn't factor into the show's "big picture."

Fritz acknowledged as much in a recent interview with U.K.'s The Sun.

"I didn't leave the show," he told the tabloid. "I finished shooting and then I had a little back surgery and the pandemic came."

Fans had been wondering where Fritz has been this season and the chatter got louder as a result of the recent Sun interview. In it, Fritz disclosed that he hasn't spoken to Wolfe for some time.

"I haven't talked to Mike in two years," Fritz said. "He knew my back was messed up, but he didn't call me up and ask how I was doing. That's just how it is."

He further suggested Wolfe's ego could be part of the reason why he's no longer on the show.

"The show is tilted towards him 1,000 percent," Fritz said of Wolfe. "I can't even bend that far down to show you how much. That's fine. It's like you've got Aerosmith and there's Steven Tyler and he's the front man. I found my spot, I'm second and he's number one on the show. That's no problem with me, maybe he does have a problem."

In The Sun interview, Fritz said his return was "up to the network." And it appears as if he got his answer.

EW reached out to History Channel and the show's production company for comment.

American Pickers is currently in production on its 11th year and airing new episodes Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on History Channel.

'American Pickers' Has No Plans for Frank Fritz's Return, Mike Wolfe Confirms

TMZ 22 July, 2021 - 11:02am

Mike adds, "I will miss Frank, just like all of you, and I pray for the very best and all good things for him on the next part of his journey."

"American Pickers" will remain a one-man show for the foreseeable future ... 'cause TMZ's learned it has no plans to bring back Mike Wolfe's ex-cohost Frank Fritz, and it has nothing to do with their fallout.

Sources close to the production tell TMZ ... Frank stepped away from the show a while back to deal with health problems that required back surgery. This, on top of already dealing with Crohn's disease. Frank hasn't appeared on the show since a March 2020 episode.

When Frank stepped away, we're told the show had to go on. They continued filming with just Mike at the helm.

Frank had been a staple on the show since 2010, but recently said he hasn't spoken to Mike in 2 years ... and his old cohost didn't reach out after the surgery. Frank's since lost nearly 70 pounds through exercising in an effort to have a better handle on his Crohn's battle.

It's no secret the ex-'Pickers' duo hasn't gotten along for years, but our sources say Frank's only off the show because he left to tend to his health. Although, he recently said he'd like to be back, we're told producers feel the show's doing fine with solo Mike.

Frank's speculated Mike's angling to get his own brother, Robbie, as a cohost -- he has been on the show lately -- but we're told that's not happening either.

The only replacement Mike's made in his life so far is with his new girlfriend ... after his wife filed for divorce.

Frank Fritz Will Not Return to ‘American Pickers’

Yahoo Entertainment 22 July, 2021 - 11:02am

Fritz did more than 300 episodes of the History show with former partner in picking Mike Wolfe. Fritz has not appeared on an episode of the antiquing show since March 2020. A combination of back surgery and the pandemic can help explain some of Frank’s absence from the popular History show — but not all of it.

“I haven’t talked to Mike in two years. He knew my back was messed up, but he didn’t call me up and ask how I was doing,” Fritz told The Sun earlier this week. “That’s just how it is.”

“The show is tilted towards [Mike] 1,000 percent,” Fritz added. “That’s fine. It’s like you’ve got Aerosmith and there’s Steven Tyler and he’s the front man. I found my spot, I’m second and he’s number one on the show. That’s no problem with me, maybe he does have a problem.”

Fritz told The Sun he thinks Mike “wants to get his brother Robbie in there to replace me.” Robbie has recurred on “American Pickers,” as have other minor characters, but there are no plans for him to become Mike’s full-time partner on the program, the person with knowledge of the show’s plan told us.

“I have known Frank for as long as I can remember, he’s been like a brother to me,” Wolfe said in a statement that was provided to TheWrap a few hours after this story published. “The journey that Frank, Dani and I started back in 2009, like all of life, has come with its highs and lows, blessings and challenges, but it has also been the most rewarding. I will miss Frank, just like all of you, and I pray for the very best and all good things for him on the next part of his journey.”

Season 22 of “American Pickers” — this one with just Wolfe — airs new episodes Mondays at 9/8c on History.

Here is the show’s official logline: This isn’t your grandmother’s antiquing. Pickers like Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz are on a mission to recycle America, even if it means diving into countless piles of grimy junk or getting chased off a gun-wielding homeowner’s land. Hitting back roads from coast to coast, the two men earn a living by restoring forgotten relics to their former glory, transforming one person’s trash into another’s treasure. American Pickers follows them as they scour the country for hidden gems in junkyards, basements, garages and barns, meeting quirky characters and hearing their amazing stories. If you think the antique business is all about upscale boutiques and buttoned-up dealers, this show may change your mind–and teach you a thing or two about American history along the way.

TMZ first reported the news of Fritz’s exit.

American Pickers' Frank Fritz Says He Hasn't Spoken to Longtime Co-Host Mike Wolfe in 2 Years

PEOPLE 22 July, 2021 - 11:02am

American Pickers star Frank Fritz is opening up about his strained relationship with co-host Mike Wolfe.

The History Channel reality series, which premiered in 2010, follows Wolfe and Fritz as they travel across the country and "earn a living by restoring forgotten relics to their former glory, transforming one person's trash into another's treasure," according to History.com.

However, Fritz, 55, recently told The Sun that he has left the show and is no longer in contact with Wolfe. A rep for The History Channel confirmed Fritz's departure to PEOPLE.

"I haven't talked to Mike in two years," Fritz said. "He knew my back was messed up, but he didn't call me up and ask how I was doing. That's just how it is."

In a statement shared with PEOPLE, Wolfe, 57, said he will miss his former co-host.

"I have known Frank for as long as I can remember, he's been like a brother to me," his statement said. "The journey that Frank, Dani (Danielle) and I started back in 2009, like all of life, has come with its highs and lows, blessings and challenges, but it has also been the most rewarding. I will miss Frank, just like all of you, and I pray for the very best and all good things for him on the next part of his journey."

To The Sun, Fritz went on to claim that he felt he took "second" place on American Pickers, while Wolfe was "number one."

"The show is tilted towards him 1,000 percent. I can't even bend that far down to show you how much," he said. "That's fine. It's like you've got Aerosmith and there's Steven Tyler and he's the frontman. I found my spot, I'm second and he's number one on the show. That's no problem with me, maybe he does have a problem."

However, he added that he thinks he's a "bigger" star in terms of fans of the show.

"I'm not arrogant and I'm more of a regular ol' guy," he said. "The guy that connects with me is the guy who buys a 30 pack of Busch Light and a pizza on the weekend. That's my guy. My guy buys a $150 sign, not an $8,000 sign."

He continued, "I'm more of the common man guy, I haven't found a $100,000 vase or any Michelangelo stuff. I've never really had a big, big score like that. But all the small scores are the bread and butter and that's my deal."

As for the show's future, Fritz said it would be "hard" to "put the show on after not talking to somebody for two years."

"You couldn't just stick two people in a van and get the chemistry you get from me and Mike," he said. "We've known each other for about 40 years. We can finish each other's sentences."

"I'm just trying to get through life like everybody else and be as happy as I possibly can," he added. "Life is what you put into it. If you don't put much into it you don't get a lot out of it."

Fritz, who also opened up about losing weight and giving up drinking, previously told the outlet that he does want to return to American Pickers.

"I would like to come back to the show, but we will see," he said. "I was doing it for 11 years, but there is a lot of controversy going on right now."

After the 21st season wrapped in 2020, Frank explained that he needed to have back surgery, and soon after that, the pandemic shut down production on a new season. When production did resume, Frank was not involved for reasons that aren’t clear, but he’s adamant that he did not leave the show. Frank told The Sun that he is definitely interested in returning to the show, saying, “I was doing it for 11 years, but there is a lot of controversy going on right now. It’s up to the network whether I come back on the show. It ain’t gonna affect me one bit. I didn’t leave the show. I finished shooting and then I had a little back surgery and the pandemic came.” Frank is open to the idea of returning, saying, “I would like to come back to the show, but we will see,” but a recent report from The Wrap indicates that the network doesn’t have plans to bring him back.

Frank and co-host Mike Wolfe have known each other for decades but it’s been widely reported that their relationship has strained recently, though there’s no evidence that this has contributed to Frank’s absence from the show. “I haven’t talked to Mike in two years. He knew my back was messed up, but he didn’t call me up and ask how I was doing. That’s just how it is,” Frank said. Still, he adds, he knows the two have a good professional rapport. “You couldn’t just stick two people in a van and get the chemistry you get from me and Mike. We’ve known each other for about 40 years. We can finish each other’s sentences.”

American Pickers’ Frank Fritz WANTS to return to show despite network having ‘no plans to bring star bac...

The US Sun 22 July, 2021 - 11:02am

News Corp is a network of leading companies in the worlds of diversified media, news, education, and information services.

AMERICAN Pickers star Frank Fritz wants to return to the show despite the network having “no plans to bring him back.”

Frank, 57, hasn’t appeared on History Channel’s American Pickers since mysteriously disappearing after a March 2020 episode

In an exclusive interview with The Sun, Frank revealed his attempts to return to the popular series after recovering from back surgery.

Frank told The Sun: “I would like to come back to the show. I was doing it for 11 years. I’m 100 percent recovered now and I’m ready to roll and go back on the show.”

But Frank revealed the network hasn’t given him a straight answer about returning, as he continued: “They talk out of both sides of their mouth. It would be like me telling you I want to go back on the show and then tomorrow going, ‘I never said that, I never said anything about that.'

“The show runner called me on my birthday on October 11 of last year and he said ‘I’ll call you back tomorrow,’ but I haven’t heard from those people at all. They don’t contact me.”

Frank insisted he “didn’t leave the show,” as he underwent back surgery and then the pandemic hit

The collector added: “I don’t know if they can do it cheaper without having me on there or what the situation is.

"I want to go back on the show, but it depends on the network. It ain’t gonna affect me one bit, but I would like to be back for my fans.”

TMZ reported American Pickers has “no plans” to bring back Frank, who has starred on the hit show since 2010.

Producers feel the show is doing fine without Frank, as the show had to continue filming while he dealt with health problems, according to the outlet.

As The Sun exclusively reported, Frank has also been feuding with his costar Mike Wolfe

Frank said: “I haven’t talked to Mike in two years. He knew my back was messed up, but he didn’t call me up and ask how I was doing. That’s just how it is.”

While Frank refused to reveal the exact cause of the falling out, he claimed there was tension over their shared American Pickers stardom

He explained: "The show is tilted towards him 1,000 percent. I can’t even bend that far down to show you how much.

"That’s fine. It’s like you’ve got Aerosmith and there’s Steven Tyler and he’s the front man. I found my spot, I’m second and he’s number one on the show. That’s no problem with me, maybe he does have a problem.

“I’m not arrogant and I’m more of a regular ol’ guy.”

Frank then said it would be “hard” to “put the show on after not talking to somebody for two years.”

He even admitted: “I think Mike wants to get his brother Robbie in there to replace me. I don’t know why he’s behaving like that towards me.”

The Sun also previously reported Frank dropped 65 pounds, as he has been living healthier and sober.

In photos obtained by The Sun, Frank looked unrecognizable while debuting a shockingly thin appearance compared to his heavier figure on the show.

Frank, who suffers from Crohn’s Disease, a chronic inflammatory bowel disease, told The Sun: “The weight loss is me watching what I’m eating so I can keep my disease under control the best I can. I’m just eating healthy.

“After a while I started watching what I’m doing and I’m doing a little bit more walking. I keep pretty busy around here too, taking care of the grass and getting rid of the weeds.”

Frank continued that he is sober today, adding: “Not drinking helps with weight loss because when you drink you eat. I’m not dieting.

“I was drinking a little bit too, but that didn’t work out either. I haven’t had a drink in almost nine, ten months.

“It would have been a year but I had one slip up, it was maybe for four hours but it was enough.”

He continued: “I’ve been working on a couple motorcycles and stuff, but that’s about it. I was in Sturgis motorcycle rally in South Dakota in August last year.

"I’ve been going to Sturgis for 40 years now. I was there for the 50th, 60th, 70th, 80th and 90th anniversaries and every year in between that. I just got inducted two years ago to the Sturgis Hall of Fame.”

'American Pickers' Star Mike Wolfe Confirms Frank Fritz is Not Returning To Show Amid 'Feud' Claims

TV Insider 22 July, 2021 - 11:02am

American Pickers star Frank Fritz will not be returning to the History channel antiquing show and is opening up about his feud with fellow picker Mike Wolfe.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Fritz, who filmed more than 300 episodes of the long-running reality series between 2010 and 2020, is not part of any plans for future episodes. He last appeared on the show in March 2020 and was not involved in the most recent episodes, which were filmed during the pandemic. Fritz has been dealing with back surgery and ongoing struggles from Crohn’s disease.

Speaking to The Sun, Fritz explained that he hasn’t heard from Wolfe, who is still involved with the show, in two years. “I didn’t leave the show. I finished shooting and then I had a little back surgery and the pandemic came,” he said. “I haven’t talked to Mike in two years. He knew my back was messed up, but he didn’t call me up and ask how I was doing. That’s just how it is.”

While Fritz didn’t mention a specific incident that caused the falling out, he did offer his thoughts on the reasons behind it. “The show is tilted towards [Mike] 1,000 percent,” he said. “I can’t even bend that far down to show you how much. That’s fine. It’s like you’ve got Aerosmith and there’s Steven Tyler and he’s the front man. I found my spot, I’m second and he’s number one on the show. That’s no problem with me; maybe he does have a problem.”

Following Fritz’s interview with The Sun, Wolfe provided a statement on Instagram, which said, “I have known Frank for as long as I can remember, he’s been like a brother to me. “The journey that Frank, Dani and I started back in 2009, like all of life, has come with its highs and lows, blessings and challenges, but it has also been the most rewarding. I will miss Frank, just like all of you, and I pray for the very best and all good things for him on the next part of his journey.”

Frank Fritz officially out at 'American Pickers'

UPI News 22 July, 2021 - 06:43am

"The journey that Frank, Dani [Danielle Colby,] and I started back in 2009, like all of life, has come with its highs and lows, blessings and challenges, but it has also been the most rewarding. I will miss Frank, just like all of you, and I pray for the very best and all good things for him on the next part of his journey."

Fritz's last episode aired in March 2020.

He underwent back surgery and suffered complications from Crohn's disease, which compromised his immune system and made him vulnerable during the coronavirus pandemic, EW.com reported. He did not return when production on the show resumed several months ago.

Fritz told The Sun he and Wolfe haven't spoken in about two years.

"The show is tilted towards him 1,000 percent. I can't even bend that far down to show you how much," Fritz hinted about what may have led to his falling-out with Wolfe.
