Who does Katie pick on The Bachelorette?
After Katie decided not to award Andrew a rose during Monday's ceremony -- instead selecting Justin, Michael A., Greg and Blake as her final four -- the pair shared a tearful goodbye, where the Bachelorette praised the pro football player, but admitted to having stronger feelings for the remaining men. Entertainment Tonight'The Bachelorette': Andrew S. Reveals If He's Still Open to a Relationship With Katie (Exclusive)
Mike the Virgin virgins harder than anyone has ever virgined, while Blake does the exact opposite, and Andrew S. becomes the star of his own rom-com
I’m talking, of course, about Andrew’s semipro Austrian football team, the Vienna Vikings, who won their semifinal on Sunday and will play in the Austrian Bowl next week against the Swarco Raiders. Oh, you wanted to know about The Bachelorette? Yeah ... Andrew didn’t make it. He was sent home in a heartbreaking exit straight out of the third act of a rom-com—only without the happy ending.
Andrew stood out from the beginning because of his winning strategy of almost exclusively speaking in a posh London accent despite being from Chicago. But since his one-on-one date with Katie, he had begun to trust his relationship and thus drop the Brit persona. Huge mistake—proper mad, innit! On Monday night, Andrew felt strong enough about Katie to tell her that he was falling for her—but his assurance only highlighted Katie’s hesitance. With hometowns next week, only four contestants could survive, and Andrew was the man left out.
Katie is clearly crushed by her decision to send Andrew home. It’s the first time she’s been upset to see someone leave—most episodes have centered on Katie harshly and vindictively eliminating scummy guys. But after seeing Andrew drive away, she collapses to the ground. When a producer comes over to comfort her, she says that it’s the first elimination she “wasn’t fully confident” about, and that “she had to just hope it was the right choice.”
But when a Bachelorette producer hears a lead admit they might be second-guessing a decision, a big alarm goes off in their head and they do everything they can to make things more confusing. Much to Katie’s surprise, Andrew didn’t immediately fly back to Europe to rejoin the Vikings—instead, he shows up at her doorstep the next morning. After a night of contemplation, both Katie and Andrew are more composed—he doesn’t try to change her mind, and she doesn’t offer to take him back. They talk about how meaningful their relationship was—notably, in the past tense—and both seem content with the choice. They part on positive terms. But then, as Andrew is leaving, he slips her a note: “If you change your mind … I’ll be waiting.” After briefly finding peace with her choice, Katie is once again flustered. She bolts out of her hotel room, frantically looking around for any sign of where Andrew went. She sprints down the stairs—I guess the elevator is slow—and catches him in the lobby. “ANDREW!” she screams. He turns around, starts beaming when he sees her, and she jumps into his arms. The Bachelorette sound team cranks up the most romantic stock music they have as the two hug and kiss.
After that whole production, though, Andrew turns down Katie’s invitation to stay on the show. (I guess the “if you change your mind ... I’ll be waiting” thing was more of a hypothetical.) She did, after all, just dump him. And though he’s caught off guard by his own choice—afterward, he stares off into space and says “She fucking sprinted down the stairs, and I said no?”—it’s probably the right call. Katie was clearly swept up in the romance of the moment, and still has four strong relationships with other guys. Andrew made the safe bet that staying would have just set him up for another dumping.
This is about as good as The Bachelorette can be. The show can be predictable, but I was caught off guard by just about all of this. I wasn’t expecting Katie to dump Andrew; I wasn’t expecting Andrew to leave that note; I wasn’t expecting Katie to chase after him; I wasn’t expecting Andrew to say no. Of course, these moments can only happen when there are actual emotions involved. If Katie were just going through the motions, she would’ve just let Andrew walk; if Andrew just wanted to be on TV, he would’ve accepted Katie’s offer to stay. The formula is fun, but this show really hits its peaks when the contestants care, a feeling that’s impossible to fabricate.
Mike the Virgin gets a coveted one-on-one date with Katie, who is hoping their first alone time of the season can push their relationship to the point where he’ll become a realistic candidate for hometowns. Unfortunately, the man who has never experienced physical love decides to repeatedly bring up the only love he’s ever known: his mother’s.
Things start off well. Katie tells Mike that although she had never considered dating a virgin, his openness and perspective has changed her thinking, and she vows to be less judgmental when she hears someone is saving themselves for marriage in the future. Then the two begin cuddling, at the behest of a cuddling expert named Cuddle Queen Jean, who coaches them through a variety of non-sexual holds. At first, the two are clearly nervous, awkwardly giggling instead of relaxing, but over the course of the date, Katie and MTV get more comfortable with finding comfort in each other’s bodies. Perhaps … a little bit too comfortable.
Katie steps away from MTV and thinks things over for a bit. When she comes back, she’s crying, and she tells Mike that he simply hasn’t made the progress he needed to earn a hometown date. This feels broadly true, but it’s also underselling the situation. Mike didn’t just fail to progress—he came out and waved the largest, reddest flag available from the summit of Cringe Mountain. He said his first physically intimate moment with his potential partner reminded him of his mom. There’s no coming back from that.
Coming into Monday night’s episode, there were two guys who had never gotten one-on-one dates: Mike the Virgin and Canadian “firefighter trainee” Brendan. (Just so we’re clear: Being a firefighter trainee does not mean you are a firefighter.) As it becomes clear that only one of the two will get a one-on-one Monday night, the two stare each other down when the group date card arrives. When Brendan’s name is on the list, everybody knows that MTV got the one-on-one.
Looking for answers, Brendan heads over to Katie’s room. (One weird thing about these quarantined seasons: Everybody seems to know where the Bachelorette’s room is! Why don’t they try to visit her more often if they need one-on-one time so badly?) Brendan thinks he’s going to save himself here—he says that every time they talk, the banter is fine, so “it’s gonna go fuckin’ great.” He puts on some Chapstick and knocks on her door.
Brendan explains that he’s feeling good about their relationship, but hasn’t had the time to let her in on his feelings. “I feel like we can take over the world together,” he says. “My dad would love to drink beers with you,” he adds. Unfortunately for him, “chugging Molson with a dad” is not high on the list of Katie’s needs. “I’ma stop you right there,” she says, cutting him off before he can plan out any more father-daughter-in-law drinking sessions. She says that although she “felt” a connection with Brendan, she doesn’t think it’s there anymore, and thinks it would be cruel to even keep him around for a group date. Brendan packs his bag and pays a visit to Blake (who is shirtless) to let him know that he’s going home. “We had an agreement that moving forward, I gotta go home.”
Yeah, sure, you guys had an “agreement.” Brendan agreed that his dad would be best bros with Katie, while Katie agreed that she had no future with Brendan. Truly, a conscious uncoupling between two sides who definitely saw eye to eye.
Brendan hoped that because the dumping happened in private and not during a rose ceremony, he could sell it a little bit better. Unlucky for him, his completely un-mutual dumping was filmed for TV and we all know the truth. Not that anybody bought it for a second—the next day at breakfast, all the guys are talking about how Katie “sent Brendan home.” You can tell that Brendan isn’t a fully trained firefighter yet, because his attempts to stomp out this blaze totally failed.
When Katie announced that her one-on-one date with Greg would be Seattle-themed, I screamed one request at the television: Just don’t do the fish toss thing.
You know the fish toss thing? Whenever Seattle is shown on TV or in a movie, you see only one thing: The guys throwing fish at the Pike Place Market. (Why do they throw fish? No clue. I think for TV?) On the last season of The Bachelor, Seattle native Kimberly introduced herself to Matt James by throwing a fish at him—and was eliminated that same night. Clearly, like me, Matt didn’t want Seattle’s entire essence to be reduced to one tourist attraction.
Katie’s date with Greg has more variety. They replicate the disgusting Seattle Gum Wall; they play football, because Katie is apparently a member of the 12th Man; they eat oysters, because those are presumably fresh in Seattle. (Not fresh at all in New Mexico, though—Katie vomits after eating hers.)
But then, of course … they throw a giant fake fish.
The fish tossing is actually pretty enjoyable—Katie accidentally wallops Greg in the face with one toss; Greg takes down a light fixture with an overzealous toss. But still: I’m angered at the lack of creativity. I swear, there has to be something interesting about Seattle besides the fish toss. Please, tell me! I want to know! I’m never going to go there myself because every television show has convinced me there’s not much to the place besides airborne halibut.
This episode’s group date is art-themed. Because we’re in New Mexico, the men are shown some paintings that are strongly Georgia O’Keeffe–themed but are not actually by Georgia O’Keeffe. (The men really key in on the fact that the paintings are suggestive of female anatomy, blowing straight past the text and focusing entirely on the subtext.)
Eventually, the men are instructed to make their own art—and all eyes turn to Blake. During his stint on the last season of The Bachelorette, Blake was also featured on an art date—and used the opportunity to make a sculpture of a penis.
Earlier, I said this show is at its best when it’s unpredictable. But I take that back: This show is at its best when everybody expects the show’s horniest guy to make more crude sex art, and he pulls through. I really hope he’s allowed to jerk off at this point.

With only one week until hometowns, Bachelorette Katie Thurston is narrowing down who she can see herself having a future with after admitting last week that she was feeling "overwhelmed."
"I'm actually really excited going into this week with this core group of guys who I have connections with and hopes for," Katie, 30, told Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe at the beginning of Monday's episode. "It just feels like a fresh start."
Asked by Tayshia, 30, whether she knew whose parents she wanted to meet, Katie said that "there are some guys who I feel very confident" about wanting to take that step with.
"I don't know who my final four guys are," Katie said. "I'm struggling a little bit, because this week I have two one-on-ones. And in some ways, I want to continue these strong relationships I have and use that to just strengthen our relationship, especially heading into hometowns."
Katie acknowledged that there were two men — Brendan Scanzano and Mike Planeta — who had yet to receive a one-on-one date, which led her to question whether she should use the solo dates this week to "really explore that more." The reality star admitted that she was "kind of struggling" with deciding what she should do.
Before the first date card was distributed, Brendan, 26, told the guys that he felt "a little bit behind" and wanted to spend "the whole day" with Katie.
Katie picked Greg Grippo to go on the week's first one-on-one date, where she showed him a bit of her life at home in Washington. In a confessional, Katie said it was important that they get extra time together since "it really has been a while since we've been able to be alone."
Katie and Greg, 27, arrived at a place that mimicked Pike Place Market in Seattle. They playfully tossed around a fish, shared oysters, played a game of football and kissed after giving each other an arrangement of flowers.
As Greg revealed how he hadn't introduced someone to his mom in "a long time" and that it is a "really serious" step for him, Katie asked if he was "ready" for them to take that step. Responding yes to her question, they then shared a kiss.
"After spending today with him, I feel very confident in our relationship," she said in a confessional. "I just need him to really trust in this and be patient and hope that at the end of it, it was worth it."
As Katie and Greg sat down for dinner, the twosome talked about how Greg had felt "insecure sometimes" having started his Bachelorette journey and related it back to being bullied growing up.
Still, he was "really excited" to introduce his family to Katie and said he was "falling in love" with her.
"I'm just happy I told you how I'm feeling," Greg said, as Katie responded, "It makes me really happy to hear."
"Greg is somebody I'm definitely falling in love with," she said in a confessional as Greg said in his own on-camera interview: "I think that I've found the love of my life. She's made me love more than I ever thought I could."
Before Katie's suitors received the group date card, Brendan and Mike P. discussed their nervousness about not receiving a one-on-one date before hometowns week. Blake Moynes, Michael Allio, Andrew Spencer, Justin Glaze and Brendan's names were listed on the group date card.
"I'm happy for you, dude, because, like, you and I are in the same shoes," Brendan said to Mike P. after it was announced who would be attending the group date. "The biggest question is: Why am I still here? I didn't get time [on the] group date, I didn't get time [at the] cocktail [party]. I'm still here. Three great guys went home, why am I still here? I didn't get a one-on-one, why am I still here?"
Immediately after, Brendan paid Katie a visit to speak with her privately about where they stood — and she ended up sending him home.
"I want you to know that the first night I met you, you were bold and you always put me first and you were always intentional with our relationship. You've continued to put yourself out there, you've gone out of your way to make me feel special," she said.
On the final group date of the season, Katie wanted to see Blake, 30, Michael A., 37, Andrew S., 26, and Justin, 26, "have fun and loosen up a bit."
She took them to create their own intimate paintings after seeing a series of sensual portraits. The men were asked to use Katie as their muse, which led Justin to paint a picture of his "journey" with Katie while Blake created something that couldn't be shown on television.
Justin brought Katie another painting and they discussed how "natural" their relationship felt, while Andrew S. opened up about how they would handle the future of his athletic career off-screen and recreated a special moment from their one-on-one date. He also told her he was "falling" for her.
Meanwhile, Michael A. admitted that this experience was "scary" but wanted to assure Katie that "nobody can love you like I can." Katie also answered multiple questions about their future together, including how his son would fit into the equation.
Michael A. received the final group date rose.
Mike P. headed out to meet Katie on their solo date, where she noted that she had a "fun" outing planned for them. A cuddle expert had them change into more comfortable clothing and practice different cuddle positions together.
"Things are awkward but Katie's very calming. She is a nurturer, and man, do I love nurturers," he said. "She reminds me of my mom. My mom brings a nurturing touch to everything and every situation she comes in contact with. Katie does the same thing."
Mike P. said that they "were able to experience our first intimacy as a couple." After the cuddle expert left, Katie and Mike P. continued to cuddle alone as they talked about his virginity. Mike P. also told Katie that she reminded him of his mother because she could "take on people's feelings," which Katie said was both a good and bad thing. He also said he'd rather have his heart broken than to break someone else's heart.
"I can't deny the fact that, like, today strengthened us and bonded us more. And it's hard because, selfishly, [I'm like], 'Let me meet his family and keep him here. I want more of him.' But also, if I'm being honest with myself and like, the bigger picture of what this is, I know I do have stronger relationships," she explained. "It's tough because today would have had to really taken our relationship to the very top, and it didn't. I just don't think it would be fair to make you go to a dinner with me tonight. I don't think it would be fair to continue our journey and involve our families if deep down I know where my heart is headed. It's a hard decision to want to send you home."
Mike P. added, "I told you this and I mean this from the bottom of my heart, no matter what the result is, my respect for you is never going to change. I know what type of wife you're going to be and what type of mother you're going to be. One of those guys is really lucky."
Katie had a talk with Tayshia and Kaitlyn, 36, before the rose ceremony about questioning whether she would make "the right decision" on who to eliminate. "I feel like I know what I'm going to do," Katie told Tayshia and Kaitlyn. "And the part where it hits me is when I picture myself seeing them. And that's when it hits, that's where it really hits."
Heading into the rose ceremony, Katie told the guys that she was giving roses to people who she could "see a future" with. Blake and Justin received the final two roses, while Andrew S. was sent home.
As she walked Andrew S. out, they had a tear-filled conversation about her decision. "You are such an amazing man," she told him. "And you give 100 percent to everything that you are passionate about, and that's what you deserve. And that's not something I could give you. I could not look at your mom or your sister in the eye and tell them what they would want to hear, because they know what you deserve. I know what you deserve."
After he left, Katie admitted to a crew member that she wasn't "fully confident" in her decision and continued to break down in tears.
The next day, Andrew S. visited Katie to make sure they ended on better terms.
"I hope you know that it wasn't, like, an easy decision. It was one of those things that it felt like, even up to like, the last, like, second … I think that's what makes it really hard. It was the first time I made a decision that I didn't feel confident about," she said.
He then gave her a handwritten note before walking out, which read: "If you change your mind … I'll be waiting."
After reading his letter, Katie burst into tears and immediately ran after him. She leapt into his arms and asked him whether he would be interested in continuing forward in the competition.
He, however, turned down the opportunity even though it was "tough."
They shared one final kiss before he left the resort for good.
"I wanted to say yes. I'd love nothing more than to be with her," Andrew S. said in a confessional. "She f------ sprinted down the stairs, and I said no. But I want my future wife to choose me and, you know, I wasn't chosen. So I had to say no. I don't want to go through this with her again. I don't want to be standing at a rose ceremony, waiting for her to not choose me."

We were stunned and shocked by one of Katie's eliminations tonight, Twitter was outraged by it, and even Katie collapsed in a heap of tears -- and ultimately, she chased the guy down on his way out.
It was a wild episode of "The Bachelorette" this week as the pressure reached a fever pitch ahead of next week's Hometowns. Katie was definitely feeling the pressure of getting this just right, and for the first time all season, we're not sure she did.
She also made the surprising decision to not award the week's two One-on-Ones to the two guys still in the house who'd never had one. That lead to an awkward encounter of its own.
While there were three guys cut by the end of the night, we can't say we were altogether too surprised by two of them. It's the third one that left us stunned, and left Twitter spinning all night long as the show climbed up the Trending Topics chart.
The first One-on-One went to Greg, which left the house in a tizzy as neither Mike P or Brendan had had one at all yet, while Greg enjoyed the first one of the season. But it turns out Katie had two reasons for picking him again.
She and Greg had a great connection that first week, but as the group dates have dragged on, she's seen uncertainty in his eyes. The show has been a real struggle for him and Katie was clearly hyper-aware of that.
It's a testament to her feelings for him that she prioritized his feelings even in those moments, or during Rose Ceremonies. Now, we picked Greg as our winner (before Blake's arrival), and we still see a pretty special connection between the two of them.
As per her resume, Katie did not mince her words, telling Greg that one of her fears is that he would simply quit the show, as so many before him have in prior seasons. It's a testament to Katie that no one has this season, and Greg is among them.
Even as he struggled week by week, his feelings for her, and the power of their few shared moments propelled him forward bit by bit until this date when they could again reconnect in a very genuine and heartfelt way.
After he expressed his love for her in their Seattle-themed date, it was a no-brainer for Katie to give him a rose.
The second One-on-One landed with Mike P, who'd managed to impress Katie enough on group dates to keep him around, even as she admitted she had preconceived perceptions of people who are saving themselves for marriage, as he is.
At the same time, it was clear she was trying to push him hard out of his comfort zone. The only way she could have pushed him further, other than the Fantasy Suite, was perhaps with tantric yoga.
As it was, they went for a guided cuddle session in the woods. To his credit, Mike P went for it. Now, he's not a prude in his life choices, so he wasn't particularly bothered with the intimacy. He's just chosen not to have sex.
At the same time, Katie is a very intimate, sex positive person. She's been very happily kissing all of the guys here, but Mike P greeted her with a warm hug. He might just be too innocent where he's at in his life for where she's at in hers.
We got a little weirded out when he kept comparing Katie to his mom, but it was clear he was meaning it in a positive way, compliment her nurturing and empathic nature. Again, there was a wholesomeness there that felt completely out of place.
Katie felt it, too, having to concede that she just wasn't at the same place with Mike P as some of the other guys. Blake called it back at the house, for those very reasons, and even though that may not be all of it, it was likely a factor as Mike P never returned to the house.
Once the names for the Group Date were revealed, it quickly became clear that Brendan was not only not going to get a One-on-One this week, he was never going to get one this season as this was the last of them.
He's been denied any time with Katie at Group Dates and even Cocktail Parties, so at this point he's left with a very realistic question. If they've barely had time to connect, then how is he still here over other guys?
And so, he decided he needed to go to her room ahead of the Group Date to find out why. He also pleaded his case as to why he believed there was so much more to him than she even knew.
Honestly, we kept having to look up just which of the pretty guys this was because he has gotten no time with Katie and almost zero time in the edit on this show. For a guy in the Final 7, Brendan had left almost no mark on the show.
He also didn't leave enough of a mark on Katie to survive that evening visit. He was right, there just wasn't much of a connection there. And since he gave her that opportunity to address it head on, she decided it would be cruel to drag him all the way to a Rose Ceremony when they both could see the writing on the wall.
Eliminations at any stage on these shows is difficult, but it gets harder and harder as the weeks progress. By the time the Rose Ceremony arrived, Katie only had five guys left. Greg had scored his One-on-One rose, while Michael A nabbed the one from the Group Date -- she really wants to meet his son -- meaning there were two roses for three guys.
That made the cut even crueler, as the eliminated guy had to walk that walk of shame all by himself. Would it be Blake, who admitted this week that he wasn't in love with her but was confident he would get there, or was it Andrew S, who recreated their One-on-One to tell her he was falling for her, or was it Justin, who made her a butterfly painting.
Based on the edit alone, we were feeling pretty confident at this point that it was the end of the road for poor Justin. He's earnest and sincere and seems like a sweet enough guy, but he just hasn't resonated as strongly as Andrew S or Blake.
Even in telling her he didn't love her, Blake did it with such honesty and expressed that he is feeling more and more for her each day, the "Bachelorette" alum actually came off very well in that moment.
After being a bit of a goober in the Claire/Tayshia season, Blake has really stepped up in a way where he seems to still have that goofy charisma, but it's now coming with a bit of perspective and maturity -- well, not too much maturity as this was his second season creating art so graphic (read: sexual) that it couldn't be shown on TV!
Andrew S is just joy, with a beautifully infectious smile. He and Katie have an incredible chemistry and have since the beginning, when we picked him as one of our picks for the Final Four.
So how did he not make it?!
Katie admitted to Tayshia and Kaitlyn that she was fairly confident in what she was going to do, but how could this be the right move? Was it because Andrew was too positive, upbeat and playful? Did she struggle to take him seriously as a candidate?
We were heartbroken, Andrew S was heartbroken and Katie was, too, collapsing to a crouch (dress, you know) as his car drove away. But that wasn't the last of it.
As if proving again what an incredible guy he was, Andrew returned to her room the next day with that signature smile, simply to tell her that there was no way he could let their time together not end in a smile.
This is an incredible human being. His love and respect and affection for her never wavered even in that second goodbye, and even then he wasn't done.
As he left, he handed her an envelope to open after he was gone. The message inside, which broke her completely, read, "If you change your mind... I'll be waiting."
What followed was a mad dash through the resort as she tried to find him, jumping into his arms in a huge hug. It got so real for a moment, with him telling her that he still knows there's something between them, so he's willing to wait for her "whenever, wherever."
And if we didn't love him enough, when she sheepishly asked him if he'd consider returning to the show if that was possible, he declined, later explaining, "I want my future wife to choose me and, you know, I wasn't chosen."
We have so much respect for him, holding to his character and integrity in the face of what had to be incredible temptation. The message is clear. He'll wait for her to want him.
But if that doesn't work out, we'd be hard pressed to find someone sweeter and more likable to be our next "Bachelor." Twitter lit up, agreeing that Andrew is really something special and deserves all the happiness this world has to offer (that he so willingly gives).
Andrew for Bachelor? Too soon? #TheBachelorette
Andrew S for Bachelor. That’s it. That’s the tweet. #TheBachelorette

Before the first one-on-one date card was read, Mike Planeta, 31, a gym owner from Surprise, Arizona, and Brendan Scanzano, 26, a firefighter trainee from Toronto, Canada were hopeful they would get selected for a one-on-one date with Katie.
The first date card was instead for Greg Grippo, 27, a marketing sales representative from Edison, New Jersey.
It read 'Greg, Let's see if this can really work…Love, Katie.'

Michael Allio, 36, a business owner from Akron, Ohio, told the camera that he had a lot of questions he still needed Katie's reassurance over.
'I'd be lying if I said I wasn't jealous of what Greg's got because he is going to get the reassurance. I need that reassurance, too. I have a son. I'm a single father. I take care of my in-laws.'

She set up a date for him to show him more about her hometown Seattle.
Their date amid the coronavirus pandemic included a copy of Pike's Place market, a Seattle landmark, and they practiced shucking oysters, making bouquets and tossing fish to each other. Afterwards, they played football and shared chewing gum.
Greg told her so far that the experience has been a 'rollercoaster' experience for him. He told her that he hasn't introduced someone to his mother in a long time, but that he now felt ready.

'This is new,' she said. 'This is something I really haven't felt before…Greg is someone I am really falling in love with.'

Greg said in his confessional that he thought he had 'found the love of his life.'
The date ended with them running out into the rain, arranged as part of the Seattle themed date, and making out.
Back at the house, Andrew and Brendan sat outside in a hot tub and talked about Katie. Andrew said in a confessional that the fact that Katie chose Greg for a second one-on-one was 'a hard pill to swallow.'
Later the men sat around by the fire waiting for the next date card. When it came it was for a group date for Justin Glaze, 26, an investment sales consultant from Ellicott City, Andrew, Blake Moynes, 30, a wildlife manager, from Tayshia's season, Michael and Brendan.

'There is an art to love, Love Katie,' the date card said.
That meant that Mike got the one-on-one date.
Brendan was not happy and went straight to Katie's room. Katie was a bit shocked to see Brendan at his door. Brendan said if he doesn't have a group date with her that he won't have the time to show her how he cared about her.

Katie told him that she felt a connection with him, but with 'hometown's next week I don't think we can get there in time.' She told him she didn't think it was even right for them to continue. Brendan packed his bags and left.
The next day on the group date, Katie took the men into a courtyard that had several art pieces on display. The paintings inspired by New Mexico's own Georgia O'Keefe appeared to be of flowers, but symbolic of women's sexuality. The men on the date were tasked with creating their own art work and presented it to Katie.
For the evening portion of the group date, the four men competed for the date rose. Katie was looking for clarity from each of the men. She spoke to them all individually.

Blake told her that his mom was going to love her but that he was not in love with her yet, 'but the way it is going now it is inevitable.'
Justin brought his artwork of butterflies to the date and showed it to Katie. Katie told him that she felt '110 percent myself.' Justin said that was 'what I love about us' that it didn't feel forced.
Michael told her that 'I can assure you that no one can love like I can.' Katie told Andrew not to worry if his career would mean that they wouldn't be able to live in the same town that they would figure it out.

Andrew took her outside where a card hung from a string of lights. He lifted Katie up and she pulled the card down and read it. It said 'I'm falling for you' and then Andrew told her 'I really am.'
In the end Katie gave the date rose to Michael as the other three other men looked hurt.
The next morning, Mike went on his one-on-one date with Katie.

Katie said in a voice over that she never thought she would date a virgin, but that 'he had continued to amaze me with his perspective on life.' She told him she had a fun date planned for them.
She said in a confessional that she wanted to use the date to see if they have a physical connection.
The two met with a 'Cuddle Queen Jean' who told them she was a cuddle expert. She asked them to change into comfortable clothes and she had them get comfortable on pillows that had been set up in the woods. She helped arrange them into 'cuddle' positions.

Jean said she noticed a lot of nervous laughter when she put them in close cuddle positions and felt that meant that they were awkward and not comfortable with each other.
After the woods cuddling exercise, Mike told the camera that he expected that they would have dinner and 'paint the picture of what life would look like together.'
Katie, however, approached from behind looking upset. She was already crying when she told him that she didn't think it would be fair for her to go to dinner with him. Katie said she didn't think it would be fair to involve their families if she knew where her heart was going.

Mike told her that he was 'bummed I'm not going to be able to experience life with you, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to be rooting for you.'
The two hugged and then Mike walked off.
Back at the house, the men discussed why Mike was still a virgin. Blake said in a confessional that Mike was a very nice guy, but that he didn't see him with Katie.
Sent packing: The two hugged and then Mike walked off
Blake told them ' I just don't see him coming back.' A member of the production cast walked into the room and grabbed Mike's luggage and walked off. The men were stunned and someone said 'he's gone.'
At that evening's ceremony there were only two roses to be handed out between three men - Justin, Andrew and Blake. Greg and Michael had already received their date roses.
Katie was worried going into the final rose ceremony that she would send home the wrong person. She told them that a rose tonight meant that she would meet their families.

Final rose: Kaitlyn Bristowe and Tayshia Adams stepped out before the final rose was handed out
'I do believe my husband is in this room and that is exciting and scary,' she told them. 'Know that if I give you a rose tonight that I see a future with you and that you in accepting this rose also see a future with me.'
She gave roses to Blake and Justin, sending a stunned Andrew home.
Katie walked him out and cried when she told him that she was so sorry. She said she was building stronger connections and that he 'deserved more than I can give you.'
He told her it 'was bittersweet' but that he was glad that they met. The two hugged and cried in each other's arms. Andrew cried as he drove off in the waiting car. He said to the camera that this was 'heartbreaking' because he had put everything into it.

Katie sobbed after Andrew left. She said that this was the first decision she made where she wasn't fully confident.
'I kind of had to hope it was the right choice,' she said.
The next morning, the four remaining contestants sat down together.

Justin told them that the previous night was very stressful for him and that 'my heart was beating out of my chest.' Michael said this next week was going to be the most exciting one yet.
Michael said in a confessional that he saw that Katie was 'devastated' sending Andrew home.
'You could see it in her eyes,' he said.
Katie woke up the next morning questioning her decision to send Andrew home.
Tough decision: Katie admitted it was a tough decision
There was a knock on her door and Katie was shocked to see Andrew there. He said he didn't want to leave on an unhappy note. Katie told him that saying goodbye to him was really hard. She told him it was not an easy decision to send him home. She told him that she still cared for him.
Andrew said he was super proud of Katie and glad that they met. He also gave her a letter to read 'when she had time' when he was gone. Katie immediately opened the letter and started crying.
The card said 'If you change your mind…I'll be waiting. Love, Andrew.'
Big smile: Andrew said he didn't want to leave on an unhappy note
Katie ran into the hall after Andrew jumped up in his arms and gave him a hug.
'I'm sorry,' she told him. 'I just had to see you.'
She then offered him the chance to return that he turned down.
The Bachelorette will return next Monday on ABC.

Katie Thurston Claps Back at Trolls Criticizing Her Skinny Jeans and Middle Part: 'Come for Me Gen Z'
20 July, 2021 - 06:10pm
Katie Thurston is a proud Millennial.
Amid the ongoing debate about skinny jeans and middle part, the Bachelorette made it clear which side she's on during last night's episode by wearing both not-so-trendy trends to her one-on-one date with Greg Grippo. Of course, the reality star, 30, got roasted by Gen Z on social media shortly after.
"katie's side part is moving further and further away each week #thebachelorette" one person tweeted, adding, "I know that her whole schtick is "millennial still stuck in 2013" but I am BEGGING this girl to try a middle part. she needs to give her scalp a break. #thebachelorette"
But Thurston clapped back, replying simply, "Never."
Another member of Bachelor Nation wondered why the show's stylists "hate Katie," to which she responded, "I dress myself" with a smiley face emoji.
"Alright, I'm creating a new rule for myself. Anyone who wants to message me about my part, or my fashion or lack thereof, I'm just going to block you," she said with a laugh.
"I mean, I know a lot of you guys don't have any hate about it," she added. "They're just giving me friendly suggestions, but when you get them every day, it's just like, God damn."
"Look, I'm just like your basic f---ing girl who somehow became a Bachelorette," continued Thurston, who first appeared on Matt James' season of The Bachelor. "But you know, I've said it before, and I'm going to say it again: It's not about the wrapping paper, it's the gift inside."
"And that's what I am - a f---ing gift. So this," she said, pointing to her hair and graphic tee - "doesn't matter."
The Bachelorette airs Mondays (8 p.m. ET) on ABC.

Speaking with co-hosts Mike Johnson and Bryan Abasolo on Tuesday's episode of the Talking It Out podcast, 31-year-old Planeta said, "I know this is a really weird thing to say because I'm waiting till marriage. Like, I'm an extremely sexual dude."
"It's just I have to kind of confine that in ways, like, for me until I get married, until it's, like, in the right context," he said.
Planeta pointed out that there "is such a stigma" that people who are virgins are not sexual individuals.
"When people think of somebody waiting, right, they think like, [they're a] prude or they're not interested in sex or they don't want to have these things," he continued. "No, like, I have all these urges probably times 10, right? These are urges that I, like, fight every single day but it's not about me."
He said that his faith "allows me to take a step back" and understand how sex could impact the woman he is interested in. But Planeta wouldn't go so far as to consider himself a "saint."
"That's what I want to make perfectly clear too, like, I am not some perfect little, like, you know, golden boy. Dude, I am a very flawed human being. Like, I am extremely flawed," he said. "And I've said this, I've talked with Katie about this, I'm very open about this: I may not have had, like, sex, sex, but I've slipped up and I've had oral sex. For me, that was one of the moments where like, the two times I did slip up and do those things, those were things that taught me actually the significance of why I actually was putting sex on such a pedestal."
Planeta said that sex is "a bonding thing, it's a connection thing like, it can mask a lot of issues if you're not communicating and talking about a lot of these things."
"I just want to make it perfectly clear how, like, naturally selfish of a human I am outside of my faith," he continued. "And that's why I cling so hard to it."
On Monday's episode of The Bachelorette, Katie Thurston selected Planeta for the second one-on-one date, during which a cuddle expert taught them various cuddling positions. But before they could make it to the dinner portion of their date, Thurston eliminated Planeta from the competition.
"But also, if I'm being honest with myself and like, the bigger picture of what this is, I know I do have stronger relationships. It's tough because today would have had to really taken our relationship to the very top, and it didn't," she continued. "I just don't think it would be fair to make you go to a dinner with me tonight. I don't think it would be fair to continue our journey and involve our families if deep down I know where my heart is headed. It's a hard decision to want to send you home."
Despite his elimination, Planeta said that he still holds respect for Thurston, 30.
"I told you this and I mean this from the bottom of my heart, no matter what the result is, my respect for you is never going to change," he said. "I know what type of wife you're going to be and what type of mother you're going to be. One of those guys is really lucky."
