Big Brother 23 Episode 24 Recap: Tiffany Says What Everyone Is Thinking

Big Brother Network 02 September, 2021 - 05:30am

I’m not sure if that was Big Brother 23 or the trailer to “Dear Evan Hansen,” but my favorite part was when Tiffany said “STFU, Kyland” in the Diary Room.

Because let’s face it, haven’t we all been thinking that?

Wednesday night’s episode picks up right after the secret Head of Household nominees were revealed.

So to recap, Tiffany has lost her HOH powers, the HOH room and her nominees were canned. But Claire, as the secret HOH named the same nominees as Tiffany. So Kyland and Sarah Beth remain on the block along with Xavier as the third nominee.

Tiffany wants to keep the house (and by house we mean only Sarah Beth and Alyssa) that she is also the secret HOH. But the rest of the Cookout already knows that Claire was going to try to win the Coin of Destiny.

Meanwhile, Sarah Beth is upset because she and Kyland have been nominated twice now in the same week. She feels like no one likes her but Kyland knows what’s really going on, and he can’t let her know so he can protect the Cookout.

It’s time to pick players for the veto competition. Joining the three nominees, Xavier, Kyland and Sarah Beth are Alyssa, Claire and Hannah.

Tiffany lost her chance to play (unless her name was drawn) and Claire, the secret HOH, is only playing because her name was drawn.

Let’s get to the veto competition and find out what happens. For this week’s competition, the players have to arrange photos of evicted houseguests chronologically. The players complete individually and the person with the best time wins the Power of Veto. The winner not only wins the veto, but also gets to see a screening of “Dear Evan Hansen.”

Let’s find out who the fastest houseguest was.

Hannah has won the Power of Veto! She picks the three nominees to join her in watching the movie.

After they watch the movie, Kyland starts his campaign to get the veto used on him, and everyone is pretty sure he just wants off the block so he can try to save Sarah Beth. He says he just wants to give Sarah Beth a sympathy vote, but everyone knows better. Tiffany has been after Sarah Beth for weeks, and isn’t happy that Kyland is now trying to pull something, especially after he is the one who told her to go ahead and nominate him and Sarah Beth. So that’s when we get the hilarious quote from her in the diary room.

Kyland made his pitch to Hannah as well, but she had long decided what she was going to do with the veto, and it wasn’t save Kyland.

At the veto ceremony, Hannah decides to use the veto on Xavier. And since he was the third nominee because of a competition punishment, that means there is no replacement nominee. So Sarah Beth and Kyland remain on the block.

Big Brother 23: Counting The Votes In Week 8 [Poll]

Big Brother Network 02 September, 2021 - 05:30am

We are just one day away from the next Big Brother 23 eviction, it’s going to be one half of the Kyland/Sarah Beth duo heading off to jury.

And if you’ve paid any attention to the season at all, then it should be pretty apparent how the votes will play out this week. But with Kyland’s actions this week, it wouldn’t be a complete surprise to see the Cookout turn on him and vote against him.

Kyland spent a lot of hours pushing for Hannah to use the veto on him just so he could “throw Sarah Beth a pity vote.” But Tiffany and a few others had a feeling he wanted off the block so Alyssa would go up and he could try to flip the vote onto Alyssa, saving his girl Sarah Beth. But Hannah did not use the veto on Kyland, instead opting to pull Xavier off the block.

Pretty much everyone is over Kyland at this point, including Xavier, who we all just assumed would be paired up with Kyland to at least the Final 3. But even he has mentioned cutting him next week, even before they’re down to the six. And that’s not too shocking, because that would mean he gets to keep Alyssa around another week. They sure to have some soft spots for their pawns.

So with Kyland still on the block, and the Cookout likely staying true to their plan, Sarah Beth is all but gone this week. But will Kyland convince someone to give her a vote in his honor? Maybe? But probably not.

Let’s take a look at how the vote should go.

Votes to Evict Sarah Beth: Tiffany, Hannah, Derek, Azah, Xavier, Alyssa

Votes to Evict Kyland: None (unless Xavier gives her one for Kyland).

Claire won’t be voting this week as she is the secret HOH. It’ll look like she’s voting, but it won’t be counted.

So it should be 6-0 or 5-1 with Sarah Beth joining her target last week Derek X in the jury house.

Who do you think will be evicted this week? Let us know in our Big Brother 23 eviction poll below.

'Big Brother 23': Fans Are Trying to Buy Derek Xiao's Abercrombie Sweatshirt

Showbiz Cheat Sheet 02 September, 2021 - 01:15am

Houseguest Derek Xiao found himself a target during the first couple of days, mainly due to his “bromance” with Travis Long but saved himself with a clutch Power of Veto win.

After his backdoor Week 1, Derek X. integrated with the Cookout members Azah Awasum, Tiffany Mitchell, Hannah Chaddha, and Kyland Young, forming several alliances with the latter three.

Fans enjoyed his interactions with Hannah the most, with several accounts making edits of the two, shipping a showmance. Although they have both admitted an attraction for each other, they’ve made it clear they’re there to play a game.

Beginning Week 6, the viewers had a chance to award their favorite houseguest BB Bucks to play for powers by voting for them. The top three players who received the most votes won the highest amount of $100. Derek X. finished in the top both weeks of his eligibility.

The popular player has worn an identifying black hoodie with white paint splashes throughout his time in the house. He frequently wore it around the house and in his Diary Room sessions.

During a conversation caught on the Live Feeds, the houseguest revealed he got his signature hoodie from Abercrombie, leading many fans to want the same one.

However, the sweatshirt sold out, some believe due to the BB audience. According to several comments posted after the season aired in Aug. 2021, customers have asked the company to restock the unique black hoodie, wanting to buy it.

When Derek X. knew he would head out the doors next, he dispersed his clothing among his allies, including his favorite hoodie, which he gave to Hannah. During Week 8’s Power of Veto competition, she wore his jacket, and the official Twitter account for Big Brother pointed it out in a clip, captioning it, “omg, it’s the iconic sweatshirt.”

After targeting the biggest physical competitor in the house, Derek X. stood out as the most prominent threat remaining as he had the following most competition wins.

Coupled with his social game, then Head of Household Sarah Beth Steagall planned on backdooring him. Even though he admittedly didn’t feel the safest, as he nominated her as a pawn a couple of weeks earlier, Derek X. chose not to compete for safety in the High Rollers Room, wanting to save his BB Bucks.

It proved to be his downfall as he also didn’t get picked for the POV competition. Feeling like she had to make the move, Sarah Beth decided to backdoor the fan-favorite, resulting in some of BB Twitter turning against her.

While his female allies could have saved him, as Kyland threw him a sympathy vote, they ultimately sided with The Cookout, who determined Derek X. as the biggest threat to their game moving forward, and evicted their friend. Big Brother 23 airs Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 8/7 Central on CBS.

'Big Brother' recap: Anonymous HOH makes for a very interesting veto competition

Entertainment Weekly News 01 September, 2021 - 09:14pm

I'm mentioning all of this because there's a moment at the beginning of this episode that just absolutely cracks me up. Claire is getting ready to take over the HOH room, watching Tiffany pack her stuff along with Hannah. When they start talking strategy, with Tiffany saying that she'll insinuate to the other players that she won the secret HOH and that's why nominations are the same, Claire gets a little miffed. In the Diary Room, she says she's not getting "the full advantage" of the HOH (well, yeah, you took over the HOH anonymously through a secret power!) and that she doesn't want this week to be seen "as just Tiffany's move." Claire, you kept Tiffany's nominations the same! You're an anonymous HOH! This is how it goes when you don't make a move and follow someone else's plan!

Before we get to the veto competition, let's check in with Sarah Beth. She's pretty emotional about being on the block, especially with her best friend Kyland sitting next to her. For her, someone who's so analytical and strategic, she's frustrated by what she thinks is an illogical move, and she feels isolated from what's actually happening in the house. She doesn't understand how Tiffany and a secret HOH could nominate her and Kyland when bigger targets are in the house. Kyland hates seeing her struggle, especially since he's keeping the true dynamic of the house (The Cookout) a secret from her.

As the veto competition grows closer, things get interesting. After all, a veto competition where the secret HOH would have to put up a new nominee — and where Xavier is already a third nominee because of his punishment — really shakes things up more than usual. Claire has to start thinking about one of the nominations being pulled down and who she'd pick as a replacement or what she'd do if she won the veto. She could make some big moves if she wanted, but I'm not sure she has it in her.

The veto competition is one we've seen plenty of times, where the players must arrange photos in chronological order based on various clues they see in the pictures. Kyland sets a good pace right off the bat, while a few others struggle. Bottom line, this all comes down to whether Claire or Sarah Beth wins the veto. Claire doesn't do so well, but Sarah Beth flies through with a great time. Unfortunately for her, she comes up 23 seconds short, losing out to Hannah. Claire laments losing because she says she was contemplating a different move than Tiffany, which I don't believe for a single second.

Hannah talks about maybe using the veto to pull Xavier off the block since he doesn't really deserve to be there and because he's a member of The Cookout. Nobody would really question that, and Sarah Beth would remain the target. But then Kyland spends a bit of time exploring the veto being used on him, specifically asking Claire and Hannah about their ideas for the veto, and that rubs some of his alliance the wrong way, with Tiffany seeing that he's perhaps trying to save Sarah Beth and not stick to The Cookout's plan. He tells Hannah that he wants to come off the block just to give Sarah Beth a sympathy vote to make her exit out of the house a little better, but Hannah's not buying that.

The thing is, I kind of believe Kyland. He's just clueless and sweet enough that he'd think this is a nice, innocent plan and not something that would make his alliance members wary of his motivations. To be fair, I don't think Kyland is the most liked member of The Cookout anyways. He's liked personally, but I think there are tighter bonds within that alliance that will go further when it's time to start turning on each other. Anyways, there's no way Hannah is changing things here, so she pulls Xavier off the block, and it's all but guaranteed that Sarah Beth is heading home on Thursday.

Big Brother 23 Spoilers: Who Will Probably Be Evicted Week 8

CinemaBlend 01 September, 2021 - 04:46pm

Big Brother Season 23 has entered the final stretch, and the next couple of weeks will give us a good idea of who in the house currently actually has a legitimate chance to win $750,000. Of course, someone currently in the house will have their fate decided sooner rather than later, as either Kyland Young or Sarah Beth Steagall is headed to the jury house on Thursday.

Claire Rehfuss stole the Head of Household from Tiffany Mitchell with the Coin of Destiny but ultimately kept her "alliance" partner's wishes all the same. So, which of the two between Kyland and Sarah Beth will be headed out of the house this week? Here's what we know based on the live feed chatter and whose Big Brother dream of winning will likely come to an end on Thursday.

Sarah Beth Steagall has been on borrowed time in the Big Brother house for weeks, but she and Kyland's Head of Household win successfully staved off the elimination for as long as possible. Tiffany Mitchell finally got a chance to send out Sarah Beth, and luckily Claire had no plans to sabotage that elimination when she usurped the HOH power. Sarah Beth has zero chance at flipping the vote this week, especially with her biggest ally Kyland on the block with her.

With Sarah Beth Steagall on her way out, The Cookout just needs to take out Alyssa Lopez and Claire Rehfuss to complete their goal of getting their whole alliance to the Final 6. Claire is unable to win the HOH (she's allowed to play but has to throw) due to the Coin of Destiny, so really, the only thing to look out for is Alyssa to get HOH and not nominate Claire for eviction.

That shouldn't be a difficult goal to accomplish, though The Cookout may make it hard on themselves trying to protect their individual games. Due to their relationships with Claire and Alyssa, Tiffany Mitchell, Kyland Young, Xavier Prather, and Azah Awasum have all stated this week they'd like to throw the competition to prevent jeopardizing their chance at losing either target's vote. Hannah Chaddha recently messed up her hand, so there's a chance she may be unable to compete. As mentioned, Claire can't win, so essentially this competition could be Derek Frazier vs. Alyssa.

The Big Brother backyard has been closed since Tuesday, which has led many to speculate the Houseguests are in for another endurance competition. Derek was the first down in the last endurance competition, so if that's the competition, it would seem someone in The Cookout who doesn't want to win may need to in order to protect their allies. Also, let's not forget Alyssa came in third in the last endurance comp, so there's a chance she could win this competition anyway. If Alyssa or someone who didn't want to win ends up winning in Week 9, expect to see some action on the live feeds later that night.

Big Brother's live eviction takes place on CBS Thursday, September 2 at 8:00 p.m. ET. Keep with CinemaBlend for all the spoilers on who will win the Week 9 HOH and the way it may turn out.
