Shailene Woodley drops Aaron Rodgers hints through a 'disgusted' Stephen A. Smith

Did Shailene Woodley just confirm that Aaron Rodgers’ rift with the Packers is about him feeling mistreated and disrespected?

The Golden Globe-nominated actress has football fans buzzing after she retweeted a video suggesting Rodgers’ resentment toward Green Bay is about the franchise quarterback feeling disrespected by the organization.

The video was originally shared by its author — “First Take” host and ESPN personality, Stephen A. Smith.

In the clip, which aired on the show Tuesday, Smith reacted to the news that Rodgers turned down a two-year contract extension in Green Bay that would’ve made him the highest paid player in the NFL.

“This is proof of what I’ve been talking about for months. It’s not about football. It’s not just about the money,” Smith said.

I really don’t get what all these folks out here continue to act like they don’t get what @AaronRodgers12 is trying to say. It’s simple. pic.twitter.com/IPEn02bV0b

“This is about the way the Green Bay Packers have treated their star player. They have disregarded him, they have dismissed him, they have minimized him, they’ve disrespected him. And he said, ‘Bump y’all, enough is enough.'”

He noted his “disgust” with “all of these NFL aficionados” that “don’t understand” Rodgers’ frustrations. Among those aficionados were even “people we have here working at [ESPN].”

Woodley, who recently discussed her relationship with Rodgers, did not add personal commentary. Though, fans believe it’s a direct hint that she feels the same as Smith, thus further speculating that her fiancé does too.

Woodley’s mother, Lori, seemingly confirmed that when she quote tweeted the Smith video with, “Spoken truth.”

It remains to be seen whether or not Rodgers will show up to training camp in Green Bay, where veteran players are expected to arrive on July 27.

Rodgers broke the news of his engagement in February — though, Woodley recently revealed the couple waited “months and months” before sharing the news.

Shailene Woodley Defends Aaron Rodgers Amid His Drama With the NFL's Green Bay Packers

Yahoo Entertainment 22 July, 2021 - 01:02pm

The 29-year-old Divergent actress clarified where she stands amid her 37-year-old fiancé's ongoing friction with the NFL's Green Bay Packers by retweeting a fiery video from ESPN pundit Stephen A. Smith on Tuesday, July 20. In the footage, Stephen blasts any fellow football experts who criticized Aaron for wanting to leave the Packers due to feeling disrespected by the organization that drafted him in 2004.

"It's not about football—it's not just about the money, and it certainly isn't about football," Stephen said in the video. "This is about the way that the Green Bay Packers have treated their star player. They have disregarded him, they have dismissed him, they have minimized him, they've disrespected him. And he said, 'Bump, y'all, enough's enough.'"

Stephen's vitriolic comments were a response to a recent ESPN report stating, per sources, that the reigning NFL MVP, who announced his engagement to Shailene in February, had turned down an offer from the Packers during this offseason that would have extended his contract and made him the highest-paid player in the entire league.

Reports have circulated since the end of the most recent season that the quarterback wants to leave his team, with most analysts believing his dissatisfaction stems from the Packers drafting quarterback Jordan Love during the first round of the 2020 draft as Aaron's perceived replacement. This was seen by many as a slap in the face to Aaron, who has continued to perform at a high level and got his team to the NFC Championship Game in both 2020 and 2021.

It seems Shailene may know more about sports than she lets on in public forums. After all, the Big Little Liars star told Seth Meyers earlier this week that learning football terminology is a "whole new world" for her.

"I still am always, 'Oh, you scored a goal'—he's like, 'It's a touchdown,'" she quipped at the time.

The surprise quarantine couple got together in the fall of last year and got engaged soon after.

What would an Aaron Rodgers trade to Broncos mean for KC Chiefs?

Arrowhead Addict 22 July, 2021 - 01:02pm

KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI - OCTOBER 27: Quarterback Aaron Rodgers #12 of the Green Bay Packers greets quarterback Patrick Mahomes #15 of the Kansas City Chiefs at midfield after the Packers defeated the Chiefs 31-24 to win the game at Arrowhead Stadium on October 27, 2019 in Kansas City, Missouri. (Photo by Jamie Squire/Getty Images)

It was April 29th, 2021. I was preparing for the draft, finishing up all my reports for players who are eligible, and it seemed like an ordinary day. An hour before the start of the draft, a notification came up saying the San Francisco 49ers were looking into trading for Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers prior to the draft.

After reading the notification, I found it more or less humorous of the 49ers for even attempting to trade for the reigning NFL MVP. However, within the next 30 minutes, news broke that read “Aaron Rodgers has informed the Packers organization that he wants out.”

At this point, rumors began to circulate naming teams who could attempt to trade for the star quarterback. There is a lot of speculation on why he wanted out, but nothing has been confirmed by Rodgers himself. The one thing Rodgers has confirmed for the media is that he doesn’t want to play another snap in Green Bay and will continue to stay away.

Just because Rodgers wants out, however, doesn’t mean he will get his way. However, if the Packers are inclined to make a move, what teams have both the need for a quarterback and the ability to put together a valuable trade package. The most popular answer to that question seems to be the Denver Broncos.

Two years ago the Chiefs took on the Packers at home, however the matchup that everyone was hoping for between Rodgers and Mahomes, wasn’t feasible. Prior to the matchup, Mahomes dislocated his knee against the Broncos, an injury that sidelined him for two weeks. Given the lack of previous experience, it means the Chiefs aren’t exactly sure what to expect when the two play against each other, perhaps giving Denver a slight edge in that respect.

Looking back at Rodgers career with the Packers, and even more so recently, it’s easy to notice the lack of weapons. Rodgers’ only real weapon last season was Davante Adams, and although he is arguably the best receiver in football , Rodgers had little else to work with.

Should Rodgers end up getting traded to Denver, depending on who goes to Green Bay in the deal, he could reworking with some semblance of wideouts like Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, Tim Patrick and K.J. Hamler; tight end Noah Fant; and running backs Melvin Gordon and Javonte Williams. If Rodgers is able to do as well as he does with Davante Adams, Aaron Jones, Robert Tonyan, Allen Lazard, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, he’d accomplish extraordinary things with the Broncos.

Very few players truly make everyone else better, and that’s what separates the NFL’s elite quarterbacks. Aaron Rodgers is unarguably great. There is a message that I once heard a couple years ago and believe in it fully, “A truck can pull a truck and it can pull a trailer, a trailer needs a truck to be pulled.” Rodgers entire career has been defined by this greatness, and the Chiefs have a young quarterback capable of the same in Patrick Mahomes.

Being able to see Mahomes and Rodgers go head-to-head two times each season would be one of the best divisional matchups in recent NFL history. The Broncos drafted quarterback Drew Lock in the 2019 NFL draft, but after his disappointing career thus far, the Chiefs have found themselves with pretty easy wins, each of which helps them wrap the AFC West fairly quickly. With Rodgers taking snaps under center, the Broncos would be a much, much tougher matchup.

The Chiefs have built quite the roster over the past couple seasons. With additions through the draft, new free agent signings this offseason, and trades they have made, the Chiefs are still in a terrific spot. A new offensive line should be much better at protecting Mahomes than last year. With the additions of Joe Thuney, Orlando Brown, Creed Humphrey, Kyle Long and others, the offensive front will fare a lot better against the Broncos pass rush combination of Von Miller and Bradley Chubb.

With Rodgers at the helm, how would the defense fare? The Chiefs have improved their defense, especially at linebacker, but they are still lacking in some areas. The Chiefs have a lot of question marks on their defensive line and that was before Frank Clark’s legal troubles. After losing Bashaud Breeland, the Chiefs will be expecting a lot from an inexperienced secondary without having enough good physical cornerbacks who can play the big receiver.

When matching up with the Broncos you have to find someone who will be able to play physical with a star receiver like Sutton. Looking at some of the cornerbacks that the Chiefs have, it’s going to difficult for the Chiefs to play Sutton well. Charvarius Ward has performed well in the past but he isn’t strong enough at the line, which could lead to blown coverages and bad reads on the ball downfield. Ward is likely to play well against receivers like Jeudy or Hamler, but the Chiefs could miss Breeland against a bigger receiver, which Rodgers could take advantage of.

There’s no denying that a trade for Aaron Rodgers would make the Broncos a lot more difficult. It could force the Chiefs to think about further moves in the secondary and the recent win streak against the Broncos could be in jeopardy. However, it would also lead to some of the most anticipated matchups of the season for fans of both teams—that is, if the Packers relent to Rodgers’ demands.

Shailene Woodley Details How Aaron Rodgers Is Teaching Her Football

The Spun 21 July, 2021 - 02:17pm

What's trending in the sports world today.

Shailene Woodley admits she doesn’t know much about football, but she’s currently learning from one of the best minds in the game. Engaged to reigning NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers, the actress is “slowly but surely” picking up on her future husband’s livelihood.

During a recent appearance on Late Night with Seth MeyersWoodley explained her growing relationship with the game of football.

“I guess I haven’t felt any pressure to, but it’s exciting,” the Emmy and Golden Globe nominated actress said. “The Packers games are the only ones I find really interesting because I have people to actually root for.

“But it is a whole new world, learning all of the different — I still am always, ‘Oh, you scored a goal.’ He’s like, ‘It’s a touchdown.’ Or I’ll be like, ‘You crossed the line,’ and he’s like, ‘It’s a yard,’ or whatever,'” she admitted. “I still can’t get it right, but I’m learning, slowly but surely.”

After keeping their relationship under wraps for months, Rodgers finally announced his engagement to Woodley during his MVP acceptance speech back in February.

“When we announced that we were engaged, we wanted to do that only because we didn’t want someone else to do it before we did,” Woodley said in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “And we didn’t do it for months and months after we had become engaged, but the reaction to it was really a lot, and so we were like, ‘Let’s just politely decline [to talk about the relationship] for a little while and live in our little bubble.’”

Just like Rodgers’ future in Green Bay, wedding plans for this couple are still unclear.

Whether it be with the Packers or another team, Woodley will get a chance to learn even more about the game as her fiancee embarks on his 17th NFL season.
