According to reports Chelsea are willing to drop interest in Sevilla’s Jules Kounde and Paris Saint-Germain’s Marquinhos.
Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt as per the reports is now their number one target for a defender. After failing to acquire Kounde in the summer transfer window and the sale of Kurt Zouma to West Ham, Chelsea will be looking to bolster their back-line.
Real Madrid are reportedly interested in full-back Reece James after impressive performances for Chelsea and England.
Just like you, we can’t get enough of Chelsea! That’s why we’ve decided to supplement our expansive Chelsea coverage on football.london with a more fan-oriented platform catered specifically to Chelsea fans - CareFree Chelsea.
Writers and presenters who share your passion for the Blues will be producing written, visual and audio content to reflect the mood in the stands as well as the press box.
But, James is an important part of Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea squad, already making a number of good performances for the side this season. The report states that if the club does allow James to leave it will have to at the cost of Madrid letting some of their own players go to the West London club.
Marco Asensio, Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy and Vinicius Junior are all players that could possibly work at Stamford Bridge per the Daily Express.
Speaking before Chelsea’s game at home against Manchester City, Jorginho told BT Sport that he was close to signing for the Citizens in 2018.
Before the Italian midfielder joined Chelsea three years ago, he explained how he very nearly joined Manchester City: “It was close but it didn’t happen. It’s how it works in football sometimes.
“I’m very, very happy at Chelsea. It’s a massive club and everyone here at the moment, the atmosphere is so good because everyone is humble.
“That’s why everything is going so well.”

But Manchester City are here to introduce spanner to works. Ian McGarry and Duncan Castles of The Transfer Window Podcast have a scoop and it is right here:
“From the very top – and I mean the very top, that is Sheikh Mansour – there is a mandate that has been given to the club that they should pursue and indeed compete with Real Madrid for the signature of Kylian Mbappe.
“We’re told that City, having obviously been embarrassed by the Harry Kane debacle in the last transfer window when they pursued, the player wanted to go, but they failed to get him, that the club now want to make sure that they do get a top-class striker to augment their squad.
“Mbappe, of course, is out of contract at the end of this season. It’s well-known that he wants to play for Real Madrid. It’s also the case that he is tempted by playing in the Premier League.
“Manchester City would be prepared to try and sign him – and this is a direct bit of information – at any cost.”
McGarry even moots the idea of City lodging a bid in January, “which Real Madrid are not prepared to do,” as well as “beating Madrid to a bigger contract offer in next summer’s window” if necessary.
“That is how ambitious they are with regards to recruiting the player,” it is added. Liverpool, of course, are skint so probably won’t get a look in. That is unlikely to stop some from desperately willing it to happen.
He wants a wage to reflect that and with his Chelsea contract expiring in summer 2022, the time to capitalise on his increased worth might be upon us. Bayern Munich and Juventus have a history of picking up excellent free agents and both ‘have a monster pay packet waiting’ for the German centre-half.
The Daily Mirror add that Rudiger ‘is keeping his options open’ as Chelsea’s post-season offer of £130,000 a week was not nearly enough. Considering the number bandied about is closer to £400,000, you can see why he thinks that.
A solution that could suit all parties is reported by 90Min. They say Martial ‘is under consideration’ to replace Erling Haaland at Borussia Dortmund next summer. The Germans will be powerless to reject offers that meet Haaland’s release clause so alternatives are being sourced already.
Dortmund ‘believe they could kickstart Martial’s career’ and Manchester United ‘could accept an offer equivalent to what they paid Monaco for him in 2015’.
They ‘could’? They should be sodding delighted to get anything close to £36m at this stage.
Bayern, Real Madrid and PSG are rumoured to be eyeing up a move for the 28-year-old German.
"I adore this player, he is very, very strong, but he would benefit from showing more humble behaviour."
Real will face competition from Bayern for the 28-year-old, who has featured seven times for Chelsea this term.
The Germany international has started all five of the Blues' Premier League matches this campaign.
Leonardo believes Mbappe will sign a new contract with the club as Real Madrid remain interested.
"Every now and again he goes crazy and tries to hit one, blazing it out onto the King’s Road."

GW-6 kicks off with two title heavy-weights going head to head.
Coincidentally, Man United takes on Aston Villa in the same early time slot as our other two heavyweights, so Fantrax managers should be treated to four confirmed lineups during the countdown hour before the Fantrax deadline, and Man Utd assets may look more rather appealing against Villa than either of our heavyweights against each other... YMMV
For Fantrax managers, this is one of two early matches that should publish confirmed lineups before the Fantrax deadline.
Unbeaten league leading Chelsea is in good shape with only midfielders, Mount & Pulisic missing for this one. Man City has a bit of a defensive headache at the moment, with Laporte, Stones and Zinchenko marked as doubts for this one alongside midfielders Gundogan and Rodrigo. Guardiola confirmed that some players had returned to training but the details are vague. Both sides were able to heavily rotate in their midweek EFL Cup games and may rotate more with Champions League matches coming in a few days.
For Fantrax managers, this is the other early match that should publish confirmed lineups before the Fantrax deadline.
High-flying Man United is in good shape. Rashford is noted as the only absentee for this one; he is expected back in October. Aston Villa is full of confidence after a strong 3-0 win last week. Defender Tuanzebe is missing for this one (unable to face parent club). United heavily rotated while Aston Villa brought in quite a few fringe players in the mid-week EFL Cup games.
Everton vs Norwich
Everton lacks firepower for this game, duo Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison out until October. Captain Coleman is still out, but Digne has been recently declared fit. The Canaries are still on the hunt for their first point of the season. Their only recent absentee is Cantwell, who is out due to personal reasons. Everton fielded a strong side for the midweek EFL Cup but was pushed all the way by QPR, Everton eventually winning on penalties.
Leeds vs West Ham
Leeds is in the midst of an injury crisis, including talisman Bamford out with an ankle injury. The trio of Raphinia, Harrison and Ayling are all doubts and will face late fitness tests. Koch, Struijk and Llorente are set to miss out. Antonio returns for West Ham after missing out last week due to suspension. The Hammers have no other fresh injury concerns after dishing out revenge by knocking Man United out of the EFL Cup.
Leicester vs Burnley
Leicester was able to rotate during midweek and have no fresh injury concerns. Burnley also rotated midweek, with Rodriguez scoring four goals and pushing for more game-time. Brownhill is the only fresh injury concern for Burnley, but he is expected to return after recovering from a dead-leg.
Ben Foster looks set to keep his place between the sticks as Bachmann tries to shake off a knee injury. Defender Femenía is a slight doubt but is likely to pass fit. Newcastle also has injury concerns in goal, with Darlow expected to start once more. Lascelles, Willock, Shelvey and Wilson will all miss out.
Brentford hopes to build on a positive start to the season. Defender Henry hopes to shake off an ankle injury in time for this one. Klopp frustrated fantasy managers last weekend, dropping TAA and Robertson to the bench; the duo are expected to return to the side this weekend. Firmino is a slight doubt, a return next week most likely. Keita and Thiago (not Chelsea’s) will miss this one.
Southampton vs Wolves
Saints defender Stephens suffered an injury in a great draw with Man City last time out and will be absent till December. This game will come too soon for the return of S. Armstrong, Walcott and Smallbone. Wolves rotated the majority of their players in the midweek game against Spurs and have no fresh injury concerns.
Performances are looking a lot more positive for the Gunners lately as they look to put their terrible start behind them. They have no injury concerns and were able to rotate heavily in a comfortable midweek EFL Cup match. Lacazette was back in the team and amongst the goals and will dream of featuring for this one. Kane played and scored midweek for Spurs, so he will hope to bring that to this North London derby, continuing to add to his impressive record in this fixture.
Crystal Palace has no new injury concerns, as new striker Edouard will hope to get some more game time. Webster will miss out for Brighton, with Bissouma and Mac Allister marked as slight injury concerns, and will hope to feature in training on Saturday.
