Billed by most as the marquee game of Week 1, No. 5 Georgia defeated No. 3 Clemson, 10-3, Saturday night at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

Limiting the Tigers to 180 total yards on 60 snaps and sacking sophomore DJ Uiagalelei seven times, the Bulldogs held Clemson scoreless in the first half, something that had not happened to Dabo Swinney’s program since November 6, 2010, against NC State, a span of 144 games.

Speaking to the media Sunday, Swinney commented on Georgia, and it is clear he holds the 2021 Bulldogs in high regard.

Normally released on Sunday, the AP Poll will not be unveiled until Tuesday this week because of games stretching through Labor Day.

Coached by Kirby Smart, Georgia will return to Sanford Stadium to battle UAB on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2, while Clemson will look to rebound against FCS South Carolina State in their home-opener at 5 p.m. ET on the ACC Network.

God bless SC State because that Clemson team is going to be heated.

Great win, I was stationed in South Carolina and I will say this Clemson probably has the worst fan base out of anyone I have ever met. They were arrogant before they were even good , Georgia is definitely on the right track.

And now Clemson will face the rest of the season against… well,…uh,…exactly no one in the top 25. So much for that strength of schedule to get you into the playoffs.
