Despite trailing for most of the game, a dominant close to the game showed why the United States of America is the overwhelming favorite to take home the gold medal this summer as Team USA defeated Spain, 83-76 in Las Vegas to close exhibition play.

Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard once again started for Team USA, playing a game-high 32 minutes en route to 19 points, six assists, four rebounds and four steals.

Dame was +12 for the game and hit the go-ahead three-pointer midway through the third quarter to give Team USA its first lead since the opening minutes of the game.

In addition to Lillard's performance, two Americans appearef to break out just in time for Olympic play to begin: Zach Lavine and Keldon Johnson.

The Bulls guard ignited an offensive spark scoring 13 points spacing the floor, throwing down impressive slam dunks and  playing with energy on defense. HIs role will expand with Bradley Beal missing the tournament due to COVID-19, however Devin Booker is expected to start in Tokyo.

Johnson, who got elevated to the main roster following Kevin Love dropping out, was a game-high +18 in 17 minutes, scoring 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting.

"Keldon Johnson just played a solid basketball game," Gregg Popovich, Johnson's NBA and Team USA head coach, said. "He shot it when he was open and when he did go to the bucket he was very physical."

Ricky Rubio scored a game-high 23 points for Spain.

Next, the Americans will travel overseas to Tokyo where Olympic play opens on Sunday, July 25th at 5:00 a.m. PST versus France, who eliminated Team USA in the 2019 FIBA World Cup quartefinals.

"We've been preparing for France for two years," Popovich added. "I think about it every day."

After dropping back-to-back games to open exhibition play, Team USA has now won two straight headed into Tokyo.

Two days after being added to the Olympic team, Keldon Johnson keyed a huge third-quarter run to help the U.S. beat Spain. Damian Lillard scored 19 points and Johnson added 15 in an 83-76 victory Sunday night in the final pre-Olympic game for both teams before they head to Tokyo. Johnson had been one of the young players training against the Americans, and had appeared in two exhibition games.

Those three are set to fly from the end of the NBA Finals straight to Tokyo for the Olympics.

Jrue Holiday seized his chance to give the Milwaukee Bucks the lead in the NBA Finals. Took it right out of Devin Booker's hands, actually. Holiday's steal and alley-oop pass to Giannis Antetokounmpo for a dunk sealed a wild Game 5 and gave the Bucks a 123-119 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Saturday night.

The warning told residents in Venezuela's capital shooting would not soon stop. By then barrio residents had already been sheltering in place for more than half a day, whole families prone on the floor to avoid unrelenting gunfire. The pitched gun battles between police and a collection of gangs at least 300-strong based in a cluster of barrios in western Caracas are another sign President Nicolas Maduro is losing control over parts of Venezuela, which is suffering from a deep economic crisis and a protracted breakdown of the rule of law.

JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) -Former South African president Jacob Zuma, whose jailing earlier this month triggered some of the worst unrest of the post-apartheid era, appeared by video link in court on Monday to seek a further delay in his corruption trial. While the government has largely restored order in the streets, there were fears Zuma's latest court appearance could again trigger violent protests from his support base. Efforts to prosecute the ex-president for allegedly receiving kickbacks over a $2 billion weapons deal in the late 1990s have been seen as a test of South Africa's ability to hold powerful politicians to account.

Offensive tackle Tyler Booker was considered Florida's top target regardless of position. He committed to Alabama Friday over UF and UGA.

"It was a big-time play. It was the winning play of the game."
