The news was announced earlier today, to the consternation of some fans on social media. Behaviour Interactive said all characters and outfits will be leaving the store on November 17.

First released back in 2019, the add-on content included Nancy Wheeler, Steve Harrington, and the monstrous Demogorgon. It also included a series of special outfits for the various characters.

Have you played Dead by Daylight?

The characters and outfits will continue to be available to anyone who purchases them. However, the Hawkins Laboratory map will no longer be available once the content is removed from the store later this year.

Before that happens, Dead By Daylight will be offering steep discounts on all of its Stranger Things items beginning August 18. Console players will also be able to purchase the Stranger Things Chapter for 60 percent off. The sale will run until September 1.

In the meantime, Behaviour Interactive is heavily teasing a Hellraiser collaboration, so it's hardly finished with licensed content. Check out our review of Dead By Daylight for our thoughts on the state of the game in 2021

Dead by Daylight Video Teases Hellraiser's Upcoming Arrival

The Dead by Daylight franchise is no stranger to collaborations with some of the horror genres’ most iconic villains, including franchises like Halloween, Left 4 Dead, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Saw, Evil Dead, and more, so Hellraiser should fit in nicely.

It’s unclear exactly what will be coming to the game, but if the past additions to the title have been any indication, players can expect some new character skins, a new map, and of course, some new monsters from the world of Hellraiser to come into the game.

‘Hellraiser’s Pinhead Bringing Pain to ‘Dead By Daylight’

Screen Rant 17 August, 2021 - 04:40pm

The announcement comes after the Dead By Daylight team slowly teased fans about the upcoming release on Twitter, showing a static TV with some flashing images and the ringing of a bell. As it turns out, that bell does indeed mean the arrival of a Cenobite. Pinhead joins a long list of infamous horror monsters and killers that developers Behavior Interactive have managed to wrangle into the fog. They've tapped the big screen for killers like Michael Meyers, Freddy Kruger, and Ghostface in the past, while also turning to video games more recently to add Resident Evil's Nemesis and Silent Hill's Pyramid Head.

Since Dead By Daylight gives special classifications to each of its killers, Pinhead will be referred to in-game as The Cenobite. Early gameplay from the Player Test Build shows the leader of the Cenobites using his signature chains to torment survivors and drag them to his realm through his Memento Mori kill. His new perks added to the game focus on inflicting survivors with a myriad of nasty ailments meant to slow and disorient players. As part of his main ability, he can throw some chains to prevent a survivor from sprinting, requiring them to quickly try and break free before Pinhead catches them.

Unfortunately, the Hellraiser crossover seems to only feature Pinhead himself, making it a bit less substantive than the previous DLC which featured a killer, two survivors, and a new map. The news also comes as another crossover leaves the game for good, as the Stranger Things chapter featuring Steve Harrington, Nancy Wheeler, and the Demogorgon is leaving on November 17 due to an expiring contract.

For now, Pinhead is only playable on PC via the Player Test Build, but fans won't have to wait long to get their hands on this sadistic Cenobite.

Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 5 Coming July 13, And Here's What It Does

Dead by Daylight creative director Dave Richard said, "Not only is he highly charismatic, but he also embraces deeply disturbing horror themes, so our fans have been requesting him for a long time. Bringing Pinhead into the Fog is a way for us to give fans something they want, while cementing our reputation as the Hall of Fame of Horror."

Pinhead will come to Dead by Daylight using a "Lament Configuration" to leave his dimension and travel to the game. "What comes next is sweet suffering that will spill over the realm," reads a line from the Pinhead description.

Behaviour Interactive's Dead by Daylight has stayed busy partnering with major horror brands for these types of crossover events. Previously, the studio teamed up with Capcom for a Resident Evil crossover, as well as Valve for Left 4 Dead, and Konami for Silent Hill. Dead by Daylight's Stranger Things DLC will expire in November.

Dead by Daylight is seeing a surge in growth, too, as the game reached more than 207,000 concurrent users in June across all platforms to set a new player record.
