But Bethenny Frankel, who previously starred on the "Real Housewives of New York City," has claimed that she knew about the high-profile attorney's money problems as early as 2017.

Jayne and Girardi — who split in November — have repeatedly found themselves in the headlines over the last year after Girardi was accused of embezzling millions of dollars from the widows and orphans of plane-crash victims to fund his and Jayne's lavish lifestyle.

Frankel said it was her ex-fiancé Dennis Shields, who died in 2018, who first told her Girardi "owes everybody money."

"Dennis said to me, 'He doesn't have it like that. He owes me half-a-million dollars. I know this other guy he owes a million-and-a-half dollars. He doesn't have money,'" Frankel said on Thursday's episode of her podcast "Just B."

Frankel said Shields, who also worked in the legal industry, claimed that Girardi was using money from his law firm, Girardi Keese, to support Jayne's lifestyle

"I said, 'Why would he do that?' He goes, 'He can't say no to her,'" Frankel added.

According to recent court documents, a bankruptcy trustee found that Girardi had transferred $20 million in loans from his law firm to Jayne's company, EJ Global.

Girardi Keese filed for bankruptcy in December and began auctioning off all of its physical assets, including lacy red lingerie, in August to help pay off creditors.

Frankel said Girardi's money problems were a "widely known best-kept secret" in the legal world, and that she told Bravo host Andy Cohen about them back in 2017.

When the news broke in December, she claims Cohen called her and said: "You really do know it all. You told me about this years ago."

'RHOBH' Stars Question Erika's Story About Tom Confronting Burglars

msnNOW 17 September, 2021 - 03:30am

During Thursday's episode of her Just B podcast, the former Real Housewives of New York City star, 50, brought up the estranged couple while discussing stars who have been "canceled" or "demoted" over the years.

Frankel — who asserted that Erika, 50, has been "semi-demoted" due to the scandal — said she hasn't been watching the drama unfold on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills this season, but claimed she has a "specific perspective" on Erika and Tom's situation due to her ex-fiancé Dennis Shields. Shields, who died in 2018 at age 51, knew Tom, 82, because they both worked in the legal space.

After learning years ago that Erika was "spending a crazy amount of money" — including $40,000 a month on glam — Frankel, who felt that lifestyle would be "hard to sustain," brought it up with Shields.

"And Dennis was like, 'Yeah, no, he owes me money and it aggravates everybody,'" she continued. "I said, 'Why would he do that?' He goes, 'He can't say no to her.'"

Frankel said Tom's financial issues were a "widely known best-kept secret" in the legal industry. She then recalled a conversation Shields had with an unnamed "billionaire lawyer" about the matter.

"When Dennis [told the lawyer] ... 'Do you know Erica Jayne spends $50,000 a month on her hair and her makeup?' The guy was like, 'What? He owes everybody money. He's being sued by everybody,'" she said. "So it was a thing. So I knew about it."

"That's just what happens. Things take a long time to come out — but everybody in that industry knew about it. All these major lawyers that I'm talking about around the country that are in this industry, they all knew about it," she continued. "And I told [Erika's makeup artist] Kristofer Buckle about it. I told Andy Cohen about it, just to say, 'It's not what you think.'"

Frankel also said she told Erika's RHOBH costars Lisa Rinna and Kyle Richards that the Girardis "don't got it like that."

"So when this came out ... Andy [Cohen] called me. He goes, 'Holy s---. You really do know it all. You told me about this years ago,'" she said. "I'm like, 'Yeah, I told you. You know, #IKnowItAll. So I knew about this whole thing. I knew since, yeah, probably 2017 and 2018, I knew about this."

"For some people, it works out. The money that you're making catches up with the way that you're spending. But for others, it doesn't and that's a dangerous game. If people are flaunting and showing a lot of what they have, very often it's all show and no go," she said. "And people are just so tempted. They must, they must show a lifestyle. And you cannot create a life out of a lifestyle. You can create a lifestyle out of a life but you can't lifestyle your way into a life. And I think that people just get so tempted to show everything and say everything instead of just keeping quiet. And that's so much stronger."

Shortly after Erika filed for divorce from Tom in November 2020, the estranged couple was hit with a lawsuit accusing them of embezzling funds from families who lost loved ones in a 2018 Boeing plane crash. Tom was also later sued by his business partners, resulting in a chapter 7 bankruptcy petition. (The creditors in the bankruptcy case include Tom's former law partner, Robert Keese, former business partners Robert Finnerty and Jill O'Callahan as well as some of the retired attorney's former clients.)

Erika has also been accused of conspiring with Tom and using her "notoriety" to hide assets as a bankruptcy trustee continues to investigate Tom and his firm.

Earlier this year, the drama was explored in a Hulu documentary titled The Housewife and the Hustler.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airs Wednesdays (8 p.m. ET) on Bravo.

Erika Girardi Claps Back at Critic as She's Spotted at T.J. Maxx: 'I've Shopped Here for Years'

PEOPLE 17 September, 2021 - 03:30am

Earlier this week, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star — who famously said she spends $40,000 a month on clothes, hair and makeup back in 2018 — was photographed shopping at T.J. Maxx in Pasadena, California, amid ongoing legal troubles in the wake of her divorce from Tom Girardi.

Some social media users were quick to weigh in: "Shopping at TJMAXX…. with your assistant?…. Optics EJ….you are smarter than this…. This NOT winning!" one person wrote on Twitter.

But Erika clapped back, clarifying that the outing had nothing to do with her financial situation. "I shopped there for years. I also went to Petco and Target. Stop over analyzing my life."

Multiple Twitter users defended the reality star, with out person saying, "I don't understand why people think that people with money don't shop at target and s—t ...sometimes you just want to go to target.

"Ugh! why dont people realize that even the rich&famous shop at the same places everyone else shops at too..Even Kyle [Richards] purchased & loves "tank tops at Target"... to have nice clothing & style does not always mean you have to shop at high end stores all the time...." someone else added.

The Twitter exchange comes after Wednesday night's episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, during which Erika dropped another major bombshell about her estranged husband.

While visiting Kathy Hilton's house for an at-home spa day, Erika chatted separately with Kyle Richards about the latest happenings in her personal life.

"Tom's house was broken into," Erika claimed. "He confronted the burglar and then had to go have eye surgery. And then my son [Tommy Zizzo] had to go over and help. And then my son, he rolled his car five times on the way home."

Asked if the incidents had happened "recently," Erika replied: "Yeah. I'm under a lot of stress."

"I got a call at three in the morning, but I didn't get it until six, from Pasadena Police Department that Tom's home had broken into the home," she continued, clarifying that Tom was present during the alleged burglary. "He confronted the burglar and then he had to go to the hospital, and then have some sort of surgery. I don't really even know [what happened]."

Erika said that Tom, 82, underwent eye surgery due to having glaucoma, but that she was "not sure" about everything that went down since they hadn't spoken.

The former couple's legal woes were the subject of an ABC News Originals documentary in June, titled The Housewife and the Hustler.

Kyle Richards calls Erika Jayne's latest Tom Girardi story 'unbelievable'

September 16, 2021 | 10:53am

No amount of Botox could prevent Kyle Richards from raising her eyebrows at Erika Jayne’s “unbelievable” story about her estranged husband, Tom Girardi.

In Wednesday’s episode of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” Richards, 52, questioned an alibi from Jayne, 50, who detailed a perplexing string of alleged events involving the disgraced attorney, 82, and her adult son, Tommy, from a previous relationship.

“Tom’s house was broken into and he confronted the burglar and then had to have eye surgery, and then my son had to go over and help,” Jayne breathlessly blurted out, befuddling Richards.

“And then my son, he rolled his car over five times on the way home. Yeah, I’m under a lot of stress.”

Richards learned that Jayne had kept Girardi’s episode and subsequent hospital visit a secret from the cast during a recent get-together at Garcelle Beauvais’ home.

“There seems to be a pattern. We’ll spend time with Erika and then find out later there was this big situation in her life going on that she didn’t share with us,” Richards said. “When Erika withholds information, she just makes it hard to be able to support her.”

Earlier this season, Jayne shocked her co-stars when she nonchalantly claimed that Girardi had been unconscious for 12 hours following a 2017 car wreck. Years prior, she only mentioned an ankle injury from the accident to her castmates.

In Wednesday’s “RHOBH” episode, Richards also noted that Jayne previously spoke highly of her relationship with Girardi during a group trip to Lake Tahoe — mere days before the singer filed for divorce in November 2020 after 21 years of marriage.

“So, if Tom was burglarized, how’d you find out? Tom confronted the burglars? Did they do anything to him?” Richards questioned in a confessional. “And what about your son? Was he hurt? His car flipped? Is he OK?”

She added, “This story obviously sounds unbelievable. That’s the only word I can think of. It sounds unbelievable. Does that mean I don’t believe her? No. But it’s unbelievable.”

Jayne is currently facing multiple lawsuits stemming from allegations that she and Girardi lived a lavish life using stolen funds meant for plane crash victims he represented.

A class-action lawsuit filed against Jayne and Girardi in December 2020 claimed that their divorce was “simply a sham attempt to fraudulently protect [their] money from those that seek to collect on debts owed by Tom and his law firm GK.”

As Jayne’s legal woes continue to play out on screen, her “RHOBH” friendships are quickly dissipating behind the scenes.

Page Six exclusively reported last week that the “Pretty Mess” author’s “only friend left” at the moment is Lisa Rinna.

“Lisa is the only friend left because this week’s episode is hard for her to watch with some of the women making fun of her,” a source told us.

“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
