After agreeing a deal with Borussia Dortmund for Jadon Sancho, it is safe to say that Manchester United have some brilliant options up top and could have one of the best attacks in the Premier League next season.
It looks like Marcus Rashford, who has been a regular in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, is set to miss out on the first few months of the 2021/22 season though.
As reported by Independent, Rashford faces approximately 12 weeks out as he is set to undergo shoulder surgery later this month, to fix a long-standing shoulder complaint. He could be back in training within 5 weeks of surgery but it would be around 12 weeks until he can return to action.
Rashford is coming off of a disappointing EURO 2020 campaign, where he did not feature much in Gareth Southgate’s team. And then, he ended up missing a spot kick in the penalty shootout in the final against Italy, as England finished as runners up.
Rashford is believed to have been playing with the shoulder problem for quite a while now although he did continue being very effective on the pitch. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 21 goals and provided 15 assists last season.
His performances in the second half of the previous campaign though, were not his best. And towards the end of the season, it did look like he was struggling for both form and fitness. He had a Europa League final to forget as well, as Manchester United lost against Villarreal.
Thus, it is certainly the right decision to take care of the issue, which appears to have been bothering him for a while now. We can only offer him our best wishes and hope that his surgery goes successfully, and he is back on the pitch as quickly as possible.
