How to Watch Bucks at Jazz

Sports Illustrated 13 October, 2021 - 06:00pm

Donovan Mitchell has played in two of the three preseason games, and Giannis Antetokounmpo nursed a sore left knee for the first two games before making a cameo in the third.

Game Date: Oct. 13, 2021

Game Time: 9:00 p.m. ET

TV: NBA TV

Mitchell is already an All-Star and a franchise player, but this year he is looking to crack that elite rank of superstar.

Gobert is not a go-to scorer on the block, but he can also be a barometer for the Jazz. He was while playing for France in the Olympics and for the Jazz in the playoffs when he scored 18-plus points.

The other fun thing about the Jazz this season is going to be rookie Jared Butler (19.0 points per game in 25.0 minutes per game). Keep an eye on him, as he appears to be thriving in Utah.

The Jazz will look to end on a high note against the Milwaukee Bucks in their final preseason game

The Jazz look ready to go in their final preseason game

There’s been some interesting lineups including multiple times with Eric Paschall playing center. There’s also been the exciting play of Jared Butler in his first two preseason appearances. What was nice about the game against the Pelicans, in which the Jazz played their standard rotations in the first half, was Quin Snyder’s willingness to adjust to different lineups when things weren’t working. For example, in his time on the floor, Hassan Whiteside has left a little to be desired. During those times where he’s struggled we’ve actually seen Snyder pivot to a lineup with Paschal at the position. That’s really exciting to see and bodes well for future lineups that could include Rudy Gay at the center position or even Gay and Paschall switching on the perimeter. It’s certainly something to watch for tonight, and during the regular season, to see if this type of adjustment happens more often during the year. It could be the thing that gets the Jazz over the hump during the chess moves of the playoffs.

It looks like Joe Ingles is out, Trent Forrest is out and Jared Butler is questionable for tonight’s game. We’ll know better closer to tipoff if Butler will play but it would be nice to see him get an opportunity to play with the Jazz’s main rotation players.

Joe Ingles will be held out of the Jazz’s preseason finale tonight for rest.

It’s been just two preseason games, but Jared Butler has looks really good. Can he keep up this level of play when he’s playing with the starters? Does his play get worse? Maybe it gets better? It would be really fun to find out tonight. Something tells me that his shooting improves when the floor is spaced with guys like Mike Conley, Donovan Mitchell and Bojan Bogdanovic spacing the floor. There’s only one way to find out and this may be one of the few opportunities he will get if Quin Snyder doesn’t have enough trust in the promising rookie when the regular season starts.
