Kevin Durant's Shocking Bucks 'Dynasty' Assertion

ClutchPoints 21 July, 2021 - 01:34pm

It’s crazy to think just how close the Milwaukee Bucks were to getting eliminated by the Brooklyn Nets in the second round of the playoffs. If Kevin Durant’s foot was just a little further back on his jumper at the end of regulation in Game 7, the Nets win and the Bucks are likely looking at some big changes. Instead, Milwaukee won in overtime and went on to win its first title in 50 years, with Giannis Antetokounmpo putting on an all-time performance along the way.

After the Bucks finished off the Phoenix Suns in Game 6 on Tuesday, the Nets star opened up about Milwaukee’s championship run and made a rather shocking “dynasty” comment in the process.

“I know it’s the first chip and a lot of people call you a dynasty after a few (titles), but the continuity of that team is something that’s impressive and how they continue to build and add and now they’re champions, and you can appreciate that,” Durant said from Tokyo, after the Americans’ first practice inside the Olympic host country of Japan. “To see a couple of friends become champions today was cool. That experience doesn’t happen for just anybody, so you respect that journey.”

While this seems like a bit of a stretch because this is the Bucks’ first title in forever, it’s some high praise from Kevin Durant. The Nets star could have been salty about his loss, but he has nothing but respect for what Giannis and the Bucks pulled off.

KD will now team up with two of these NBA champs in Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday at the Tokyo Olympics. Middleton, Holiday and Devin Booker will fly out to Japan later this week to join Durant and Team USA as they look to win a fourth consecutive gold medal for the USA Basketball men’s squad.
