Months after announcing her pregnancy to surprised fans, Halsey finally welcomed her baby into the “New Americana.”
The “Without Me” singer, 26, gave birth to her first child with boyfriend Alev Aydin, named Ender Ridley Aydin, on July 14.
“Gratitude. For the most ‘rare’ and euphoric birth. Powered by love,” she wrote on her Instagram page Monday.
While Halsey did not reveal the sex of the newborn, Ender is a popular male Turkish name that means “rare.”
The Grammy nominee surprised fans in January after she shared photos from a maternity shoot featuring her baby bump. In two of the portraits by photographer Sam Dameshek, the expectant mother posed completely topless while wearing a pair of baggy denim jeans.
Halsey first confirmed her relationship with Aydin, 38, after tagging the producer in her pregnancy announcement, to which he commented, “Heart so full, I love you sweetness.”
He is best known for writing films and TV shows such as “Small Shorts” on Netflix.
In March, she told fans that her pregnancy was “100% planned” and that she had “tried very hard for this [baby].”
It’s unclear how long Halsey and Aydin have been together, but the pair did get coordinating tattoos of the word “Seeds” in each other’s handwriting in June 2020. At the time, the singer told Amanda Owley, the California-based artist who inked the couple, that she and Aydin had been friends for “a long time.”
The new parents sparked rumors in May that they had secretly married when they were seen wearing matching gold rings.

"Gratitude. For the most 'rare' and euphoric birth. Powered by love," she wrote, alongside photos with her child, who was born Wednesday.
USA TODAY reached out to Halsey's reps for comment.
The news comes less than two weeks after the singer announced her punk-rock album, "If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power" (out August 27), which she called "a concept album about the joys and horrors of pregnancy and childbirth." The NSFW cover art features a breast-baring Halsey holding a baby in a Renaissance-themed background.
"This cover image celebrates pregnant and postpartum bodies as something beautiful, to be admired," she captioned the post. "We have a long way to go with eradicating the social stigma around bodies & breastfeeding. I hope this can be a step in the right direction!"
Halsey first announced her pregnancy in January with a social media post that showed off her baby bump. In the picture, she's seated, looking off into the distance and wearing a rainbow tube top and a pair of unbuttoned jeans.
"(S)urprise!" she wrote, followed by a trio of emojis: a bottle, a rainbow and a baby angel.
In a tag over her belly, Halsey tagged Aydin.
The rainbow emoji is likely a nod to the fact Halsey suffered a miscarriage while on tour about five years ago. A baby born after a pregnancy loss is commonly referred to as a rainbow baby. She later revealed on an episode of "The Doctors" that she froze some of her eggs.
"Reproductive illness is so frustrating because it can really make you feel less of a woman," she said. "There's a lot of times when you're sitting at home and you just feel so terrible about yourself.
"You’re sick, you don’t feel sexy, you don’t feel proud. You don’t feel like there’s much hope."

Halsey first announced their pregnancy back in January through a series of maternity photos on Instagram simply captioned, "surprise! 🍼🌈👼🏻" Alev commented on the photo, "Heart so full, I love you, sweetness ❤️❤️," to which Halsey replied: "I love you!!!!! And I love this mini human already!"
Halsey has been open in the past about her fertility, sharing on The Doctors in 2018 that she was freezing her eggs following an endometriosis diagnosis and a pregnancy loss while on tour.
"I'm 23 years old, and I'm going to freeze my eggs. And when I tell people that, they're like, 'You're 23 - why do you need to do that? Why do you need to freeze your eggs?'" they said on the episode. "Doing an ovarian reserve is important to me because I'm fortunate enough to have that as an option, but I need to be aggressive about protecting my fertility, about protecting myself."

“Gratitude,” the 26-year-old singer posted on Instagram Monday. “For the most ‘rare’ and euphoric birth. Powered by love. Ender Ridley Aydin 7/14/2021.”
She shared a photo of herself with the baby and the baby’s father, her boyfriend Alev Aydin, tagging their doctors, nurse and breath work teacher. Halsey also shared a photo of Ender Ridley breastfeeding.
Shortly before the birth, the singer from New Jersey, born Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, announced her forthcoming album “If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power” with a video filmed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Introducing the album cover for the release, due out August 27, she called the album, produced by the Oscar and Grammy-winning duo Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, “a concept album about the joys and horrors of pregnancy and childbirth.”
The cover image, which she unveiled after stopping to examine paintings of Jesus and Mary at the museum, showed her sitting on a throne with a child in her lap, her breast uncovered and crown on her head.
“The idea that me as a sexual being and my body as a vessel and gift to my child are two concepts that can co-exist peacefully and powerfully,” said Halsey, who grew up in Washington, Warren County.
“My body has belonged to the world in many different ways the past few years, and this image is my means of reclaiming my autonomy and establishing my pride and strength as a life force for my human being,” she said. “This cover image celebrates pregnant and postpartum bodies as something beautiful, to be admired.”
The alumna of Warren Hills Regional High School announced in January that she was expecting a baby with Aydin, a screenwriter.
She called the baby her “rainbow,” referring to “rainbow baby,” a term for a child that arrives after a previous miscarriage, stillbirth or death.

Halsey is a mom! The 26-year-old welcomed her first child with boyfriend Alev Aydin on July 14, 2021. After waiting a few days to experience the bliss of motherhood, the “Graveyard” singer shared the good news with the world. “Gratitude. For the most ‘rare’ and euphoric birth. Powered by love,” she captioned a July 19 Instagram post while also revealing her child’s name: Ender Ridley Aydin. In the first IG pic, Halsey cradled her bundle of joy while lying in a hospital bed. In the second pic, Halsey breastfed her hungry baby.
Halsey’s happy news comes after she first announced she was expecting back in Jan. She showed off her growing baby bump in three gorgeous photos from a professional maternity photoshoot and captioned the post with, “Surprise” while also tagging Alev. The shocking but awesome news brought many congratulatory messages from fans in the comments section and continued on various posts throughout her pregnancy.
Since announcing the news, Halsey has been very open about her pregnancy journey and continued to post snapshots of her baby bump and even an ultrasound photo that showed off the tot’s little feet. She also revealed her endometriosis scars that were located at the bottom of her stomach in a pic that included a sweet message. “the scars that got me this angel,” the caption for the pic read.
It was years before her pregnancy that Halsey first revealed she had endometriosis, a painful disease that causes the tissues that normally line the uterus to grow outside the uterus. In a now-deleted Instagram post on Jan. 6, 2017, the talented artist told her fans that she “braved multiple terrifying surgeries” that day.
“The most important of which being the surgery that would hopefully treat my endometriosis. For those of you who have followed this battle of mine or who may suffer with it yourself, you know the extremes to which it can be mentally exhausting and physically painful,” she wrote in the post while also admitting she was in “total agony“ before concluding with a positive message. “If you suffer from chronic pain or a debilitating disease, please know that I have found time to live a crazy, wild, rewarding life AND balance my treatment, and I hope so much in my heart that you can too.”
We’re so glad Halsey was able to have a happy ending. Congratulations to her and Alev on their new bundle of joy!

“Gratitude. For the most ‘rare’ and euphoric birth. Powered by love,” the singer, 26, wrote via Instagram on Monday, July 19. “Ender Ridley Aydin 7/14/2021.”
Halsey revealed their pregnancy news in January. “Surprise,” the Grammy nominee captioned an Instagram slideshow of maternity shoot pics.
“Heart so full. Love you, sweetness,” Aydin, 37, commented on the social media upload. Halsey replied, “I love you!!!! And I love this mini human already!”
They went on to tweet at the time: “It’s wonderful to celebrate something with you all after years of sharing all the sad stuff. And just so we’re aware, if it wasn’t for COVID, I woulda done the tour pregnant.”
The following month, a source exclusively told Us Weekly that the New Jersey native was “over the moon” about their upcoming arrival.
“They’re giving themselves so much tender loving care and focusing on what’s to come,” the insider told Us in February. “They are doing a lot of meditating, eating healthy, doing yoga and overall focusing on resting and giving their body as much TLC as possible through this beautiful transition.”
The source added that the I Would Leave Me If I Could author’s pregnancy had a “positive impact” on their creativity, explaining, “They see this as a time to write new narratives and get super creative with their music. This is the next chapter of their life and they sees it as somewhat of a new beginning.”
That same month, the songwriter showed their bump progress in a bikini selfie. “I’ve been thinking lots about my body,” the then-pregnant star wrote via Instagram. “It’s strange to watch yourself change so quickly. I thought pregnancy would give me very strong, binary feelings about womanhood,’ but truly it has leveled my perception of gender entirely. My sensitivity to my body has made me hyperaware of my humanness and that’s all. Doing a remarkable thing. And it’s grand. I hope the feeling lasts.”
Halsey has previously been open with their followers about their fertility struggles in the past, including endometriosis and multiple miscarriages. “[Motherhood] is looking like something that’s gonna happen for me,” they told The Guardian in February 2020. “That’s a miracle.”
