Destiny 2: The Witch Queen Expansion Reveal Announced

ComicBook.com 08 July, 2021 - 03:22pm

Destiny 2 players have known about one of the game’s upcoming expansions called “The Witch Queen” for a while now ever since it was announced in June 2020, and it won’t be long now until we learn much more about it. Bungie announced on Wednesday plans to show off The Witch Queen on August 24th, a Tuesday that’s just over a month away now. The teaser for the event confirmed the date with an ominous “survive the truth” line attached to the announcement.

Bungie tweeted about the plans for the Destiny 2 reveal with a no-frills tweet from the game’s account. It included the tagline above, a confirmation that this would indeed be a showcase, and the August 24th date. While nothing about The Witch Queen was explicitly mentioned, the logo shown in the middle is the same one used to promote the expansion previously, so we know what to expect from the showcase.

We don’t know when, exactly, it’ll happen, however, since a specific time wasn’t given. With still over a month to go before the event, those kinds of details should be shared between now and the reveal. It’ll likely be on YouTube and Twitch at a minimum for those planning on watching it live, but you’ll of course be able to rewatch it afterwards to look over all the details you might’ve missed.

The Witch Queen was revealed after Bungie announced the Beyond Light expansion and was originally supposed to release in 2021 before it was delayed to early 2022. Bungie announced the delay of the expansion back in February when it became evident that the game wouldn’t hit its 2021 release window and explained why it had to make the “difficult but important decision” to delay the game’s next big content release.

“As we’ve been developing The Witch Queen, we realized that we needed this release to be the first of many moments crucial to the story of Destiny,” Bungie said previously about the expansion’s delay. “With so much leading to and dependent on what happens in The Witch Queen, we wanted to make sure that we gave ourselves enough time to build out this journey in the right way, starting with an exceptional first chapter in The Witch Queen.”

Destiny 2: The Witch Queen will be shown off on August 24th during an expansion of the showcase. A release date beyond early 2022 has not yet been announced.

Destiny 2: Solstice of Heroes: How to Upgrade Armor to Majestic and Magnificent

EssentiallySports 08 July, 2021 - 03:22pm

One of the primary highlights of the event revolves around the glowing armor sets players receive as a reward. Players start with a blue Renewed armor set which they can then upgrade to the purple Legendary Majestic armor set. Then they can upgrade it again to reach the ultimate stage of Magnificent which gives off a white glow. Here’s how you can upgrade the Majestic armor set to Magnificent.

Destiny 2: Master Vault of Glass Raid: What Are Timelost Weapons and How to Gain Them

To upgrade a Majestic armor set, Destiny 2 players need to make sure that they equip the pieces while completing the objectives for it. But they can swap them out for Exotics to complete any ability oriented quest for smoother progression. There aren’t any drastic differences in the objectives for Hunter, Warlock and Titan classes. So the progress should be similar for everyone.

Along with that, players need to make sure that they complete the correct activity, and they should definitely not stray away from it. They should also select the right mixture of activities, as some of them can be quite extensive and hard to complete.

One of the more important activities in the Solstice of Heroes event takes place in the European Aerial Zone (EAZ). Here players will have to kill five mini-bosses as a team. A great trick to use here revolves around the Prismatic Taken which drops an orb after dying. The orb grants players with buffs from elemental empowerment. So fans should definitely try it out.

The next activity the players have to do is the Altars of Sorrow public match event or Overrides. The best strategy that players can adopt is by playing two waves of the Altars of Sorrow and three Overrides to complete the activity. Then they have to either compete in the Blindwells in the Dreaming City or Wrathborn Hunts. If players are lagging behind in the other objectives, then they should take the Blindwells route. But if they want to complete it as quick as possible, then Wrathborn Hunts are the way to go.

In the choice for the next activity between Europa public events and Battlegrounds, players should select the latter as it requires less time comparatively. Plus the event also has modifiers which will speed up the process for players. They should also select Nightfall Strikes instead of Trials and Crucible Glory playlists, as they can play it on Adept difficulty which would be a breeze for most players.

Finally, players also have to collect an Element of Orbs in playlists. Bungie has disallowed fans to complete this mission for players who collect it from Battlegrounds or Nightfall Strikes, even though they are playlists. Players have to find it in Crucible, Strikes or Gambit to finish the objective. There are tons of objectives to go through in Solstice of Heroes, and fans should get on it right away if they want to collect all the rewards as soon as possible.

Destiny 2: The Witch Queen Expansion Showcase Coming August 24

Nintendo Switch OLED Is For Handheld Players With Commitment Issues

As for what fans can expect at the event, it'll likely be a look at where Guardians will be headed to next, what threats will be waiting for them when they arrive in this new patrol zone, and other big changes to Destiny 2's sandbox. Bungie has stuck with Destiny 2 for longer than it did the original game, opting for several more expansions instead of jumping into a hypothetical Destiny 3 and making a clean break.

There might also be news on which locations are being retired and stored in the Destiny Vault to make way for the new locations of the Witch Queen and keep Destiny 2 at a more manageable size, with some rumors pointing towards the expansion taking place in a version of Chicago that has destructible environments.

Bungie has broken from its usual annual release schedule for new Destiny 2 expansions, using that extra time to further polish these major expansions while filling the gap between releases with a more focused seasonal model and better storytelling that points towards a massive paradigm shift as the Hive Queen approaches.

In other Destiny 2 news, the mid-season patch has brought with it a bunch of balancing changes to weapons for player-vs-player activities. Shotguns are a little less deadly, hand cannons with aggressive fire-rates have been re-balanced, and the Exotic scout rifle Dead Man's Tale has received a major nerf.
