An apparent supply chain leak is corroborating rumors that Apple's higher-end "iPhone 13" models could be offered in new colors like "sunset gold," matte black, and a pale rose gold.

The information was posted on a Korean-language message board by leaker Ranzuk. Citing a Chinese supply chain source, the post claims that Apple's "iPhone 13 Pro" will be offered in four colors: black, silver, rose gold, and sunset gold.

According to the post, the sunset gold color will have a "bronze feel," while the rose gold "looks very pale."

These new color options will likely only apply to the higher-end "iPhone 13 Pro" models. Currently, the iPhone 12 Pro. is offered in graphite, silver, gold, and Pacific Blue. In all likelihood, the mid-range "iPhone 13" models will continue to come in a variety of colorful hues.

The leak corroborates a previous rumor suggesting that the "iPhone 13 Pro" would come in a new bronze-like color option. That previous rumor also indicated that the black "iPhone 13 Pro" model would be matte, suggesting a shift away from the graphite color of the current Pro lineup.

Apple is set to release new iPhone models sometime in the latter half of 2021, possibly in September. The so-called "iPhone 13" is rumored to sport a smaller notch, an updated camera bump, and other incremental upgrades over the iPhone 12 Pro.

Should you install iOS 14.7?

ZDNet 21 July, 2021 - 11:01pm

iOS 14.7 is out and being pushed to iPhones all over the world as I type these words. But should you install this update or wait and see if there are any show stopping bugs?

Thanks to the release candidate, we already know the features and fixes in this update. What we don't know, as of the time of writing, is what security fixes (if any) that iOS 14.7 contains.

So, should you install iOS 14.7?

Must read: Don't make this common, fatal iPhone or Android mistake

I've been running the release candidate for a few days, and install the final release as soon as it was made available yesterday, and everything looks good. I've not come across any showstopper bugs, and everything feels just as snappy as it was prior to update.

I have heard from people who are worried about battery drain after installing it, but this is a common issue following any iOS update, and it usually fixes itself after a day or so (iOS does a fair bit of housekeeping following an update).

My advice for those suffering from battery drain for the first few days following an update is to wait it out. If it's a real problem, wait until you have a few days that you're not relying on your iPhone as much (like the weekend).

The bottom line is that right now you could take either route with iOS 14.7. Short of it patching some nasty security vulnerability, you could play a wait and see (as long as you're not worried about the Wi-Fi hotspot bug) but given how the release candidate and final release feels to me, I don't see any harm in pulling the trigger on the update.

Digital Camera World 21 July, 2021 - 11:01pm

These luxury $6,000 iPhone 12 Pro and Max models are scented with vanilla coffee, chamomile, cornflower and rose

That's thanks to luxury Russian smartphone dealer Caviar, which is selling a limited line of scented iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max handsets with four different aromas.

The Caviar Eco Collection consists of four iPhone 12 'flavors': Alpine Chamomile, Spicy Rose, Alpine Cornflower and Vanilla Coffee. And these scents aren't just limited to Apple's current flagship phones; when the iPhone 13 is released, these aromas will be offered on the new Pro and Pro Max models as well.

All flavors feature mahogany bodies combined with the signature ingredients for a unique aesthetic along with recognizable scent.

Vanilla Coffee starts at $6,140 (approximately £5,420 / AU$10,100) for the Pro 128GB, going up to $7,730 for the Pro Max, "will give you comfort and tranquility, despite the fast pace of modern life."

Alpine Chamomile, priced $6,220-$7,450 (£4,580-£5,490 / AU$8,500-AU$10,180) "is a declaration of love, a tribute to and admiration for the magnificent nature of our planet."

Spicy Rose, costing $5,980-$7,120 (£4,400-£5,240 / AU$8,170-AU$9,730) "pursues a great goal - the care and preservation of our beautiful nature".

And Alpine Cornflower, which likewise sells for $5,980-$7,120 (£4,400-£5,240 / AU$8,170-AU$9,730) "is a tribute to the splendor of our planet. Smooth lines, natural materials and a delicate aroma of nature itself. Don't the modern residents of megacities experience the lack of it?"

Each phone is limited to 99 pieces and is available from the Caviar website.
