Kirby Smart was asked about Georgia's injury situation on Monday. Whether he meant it or not, probably not, he said that he'd love to give the media the information it was looking for but he wouldn't know more until the Bulldogs cranked things up during Tuesday's practice.

Well, Tuesday's practice is in the books. Smart got to see a number of injured Bulldogs in action and he offered what sounded like a fairly optimistic update when he met with reporters for the second time this week. That includes the latest on fourth-year junior quarterback JT Daniels.

“He got to throw a lot on Monday," Smart said. "Monday he threw 30 or 40 balls. He got upwards of 30 yards, felt pretty good, took some snaps. We didn’t do a whole bunch Monday, less than we normally do. Today he probably didn’t do as much. He was a little more limited. Took some snaps, threw the ball some. We’ve been kind of going off of Ron’s protocol. He has him on a pitch count daily. We’re following that, checking to see if he swells or has any soreness after. The good news is he hasn’t had any soreness the last two days, not extensive soreness, and we’re able to go back the next day and continue to get him some. He hasn’t been able to do a whole lot. A little more than he did the week before.”

Stetson Bennett IV seems to be in line for his third consecutive start for now, but Daniels being on the mend is good for multiple reasons. First and foremost, he's closer to being able to step in if Bennett gets hurt or struggles. He's also now more likely to be available when the Bulldogs travel to Jacksonville for the Florida game at the end of the month.

Smart says that fifth-year senior defensive back Ameer Speed appears doubtful for the Kentucky game. He indicated that it's the same scenario for redshirt sophomore wide receiver Dominick Blaylock. But the Bulldogs have a host of other injured players who are getting in some work.

"Rosemy (Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint) I think is going to be good this week, he’s taken al ot of reps," Smart said. "Like I said I thought he looked good in warm-ups the other day, that was the hope we had when he was waring up. Jermaine Burton has done well and worked reps, and he hasn’t taken the volume that he would normally take, but he’s hitting his speeds. So feel good about him. There’s so many that I can’t think of them. Chris Smith has been able to practice and he’s in a black jersey. He’s not contact right now, but he’s moving good, and he’s staying in shape. Jamaree (Salyer) is kind of the same way. He’s conditioning and working out, and watching the periods. I think he’s gonna be good but he’s not able to take all his reps."
