Megan Fox is opening up about the experience that inspired her to stop drinking alcohol.

In a video interview with Who What Wear, published last Friday, the "Till Death" star, 35, recalled how drinking too much champagne at the Golden Globe Awards in 2009 led her to make regrettable comments on the red carpet.

"I was sat at a table with Blake Lively and all three Jonas Brothers," she said. "At the Golden Globes, they always put those giant bottles of Moët (& Chandon) champagne on the table. I went through multiple glasses of that."

As a result, Fox said she became "belligerent" and "said a bunch of (expletive) I shouldn’t have said on the red carpet."

"Now I don’t drink, and this is why," she added. "I got in a lot of trouble for whatever I said on the red carpet at this event. I don’t remember why but I know that I did. You can look that up."

According to footage shared by TMZ at the time, Fox gave an interview to red carpet reporter Giuliana Rancic at this event, in which she used a defamatory term for transgender people and opened up about feeling "so painfully insecure."

"I'm on the verge of vomiting right now," she continued. "I'm so horrified that I'm here and embarrassed and scared."

When asked about her then-fiancé Brian Austin Green, Fox said he didn't want to attend the award show with her.

"He doesn't want to be here. He doesn't want to be my date. He's a man. He has an ego," she said. "I think he's probably working on music. I don't think he cares."

Fox filed for divorce from Green after 10 years of marriage in November 2020, days after making her red-carpet debut with boyfriend Machine Gun Kelly at the American Music Awards.

Fox cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for her split from the "Beverly Hills, 90210" star, 48.

Megan Fox Looks Back on the 'Belligerent' Golden Globes Experience That Led Her to Quit Drinking

msnNOW 22 July, 2021 - 04:10am

Megan Fox decided to stop drinking after an incident at the 2009 Golden Globe Awards. In a video for Who What Wear, the 35-year-old actress revealed why her first Golden Globes experience led her to make a major life change.

"I was sat at a table with Blake Lively and all three Jonas brothers," Fox recalled. "At the Golden Globes, they always put those giant bottles of Moët champagne on the table. I went through multiple glasses of that. Now I don't drink and this is why."

"I was belligerent and said a bunch of s**t I shouldn't have said on the red carpet after that," she continued. "I think I got in a lot of trouble for whatever I said on the red carpet at this event. I don't remember why but I know that I did."

During the interview in question, Fox told Giuliana Rancic that she felt like she looked like "a doppelganger for Alan Alda," before calling herself a transphobic slur.

"I'm so painfully insecure," she said. "I'm on the verge of vomiting right now. I'm so horrified that I'm here. I'm embarrassed. I'm scared."

In the Who What Wear video, Fox recalled her red carpet look, admitting, "I hate wearing my hair back like this. I cannot believe I allowed this to happen. I have a huge, round forehead, so I hate wearing my hair slicked back like that."

The 2009 interview also featured Fox referring to Salma Hayek's breasts "amazing," stating that she has a "22 inch waist," and calling out her then-beau, Brian Austin Green, for not accompanying her to the event.

"He doesn't want to be here. He doesn't want to be my date. He's a man. He has an ego," she said. "I think he's probably working on music. I don't think he cares."

Fox and Green, 48, went on to get married and have three kids, Noah, 8, Bodhi, 7, and Journey, 4. The pair called it quits in May 2020 after 10 years of marriage. Both Fox and Green have since moved on, the former with Machine Gun Kelly and the latter with Sharna Burgess.

During the Who What Wear video, Fox additionally opened up about her "soulmate connection" with the rocker. Watch the video below for more on the couple.

Megan Fox Reveals She Stopped Drinking Because of 'Belligerent' Comments She Made at Golden Globes

PopCulture.com 22 July, 2021 - 04:10am

Megan Fox is opening up about her disastrous experience at the 2009 Golden Globes that convinced her to stop drinking. The actress, 35, took a walk down memory lane for Who What Wear on July 16, revisiting some of her most memorable looks throughout the years, including the gold Ralph Lauren gown she donned to the 2009 ceremony.

"I hate wearing my hair back like this," the Midnight in the Switchgrass star said. "I have a huge, round forehead so I hate wearing my hair slicked back like that." She then revealed that the night in question was not a good one for her in general, laughing as she revealed she went through "multiple glasses" of champagne while seated at a table with Blake Lively, Kevin Jonas, Joe Jonas, and Nick Jonas. "Now I don't drink, and this is why," she explained. "I was belligerent and said a bunch of s— I shouldn't have said on the red carpet after that."

Fox did stir up controversy during an interview with Giuliana Rancic at the time when she called herself a transphobic slur and said she was "horrified and embarrassed" to be attending the show. Asked about the whereabouts of her now ex-husband Brian Austin Green, Fox said the Beverly Hills, 90210 star didn't attend because he didn't want to be her date.

Looking back now, Fox said she got in "a lot of trouble" for her comments, adding that while she didn't remember what exactly she shared, she knew it didn't go over well. Fox has since been open about abstaining from alcohol and drugs, telling Esquire in 2013, "I don't like feeling out of control. I have to feel like I'm in control of my body."

Fox has been a pivotal support point for her current boyfriend, Machine Gun Kelly, who has been working to recover from substance abuse issues. In December, Kelly told Interview that Adderall had become a "huge thing" for him in particular before he decided to seek treatment. "When you have a partner, mine being Megan, sitting there with you on those dark nights when you’re sweating and not being able to figure out why you’re so in your head, to help you get out of your head and put it in perspective, that really, really helps," he explained of his girlfriend's role in his recovery.

Megan Fox Quit Drinking Alcohol After Making 'Belligerent' Comments

UPROXX 22 July, 2021 - 04:10am

Fox knows that she “got in a lot of trouble for whatever I said on the red carpet at this event,” but confesses that “I don’t remember why, but I know I did. You can look that up.”

[In] the moment Fox is referring to, she is seen being interviewed on the red carpet by former E! host Giuliana Rancic.

After Rancic calls her “beautiful,” Fox responds, “I’m pretty sure I’m a doppelganger for Alan Alda. I’m a [offensive and outdated term for someone who is transgender]. I’m a man. No, I’m so painfully insecure I’m on the verge of vomiting right now. I’m so horrified that I’m here and embarrassed and scared.”

Fox also said that she “really want[s]” Salma Hayek’s breasts and that her then-fiancé Brian Austin Green didn’t want to be her Golden Globes date because “he’s a man, he has an ego.” She is now dating Machine Gun Kelly, and although she doesn’t drink alcohol, she did drink ayahuasca during a trip to Costa Rica with her musician boyfriend. “It was incredibly intense. Everybody’s journey is different. The second night, I went to hell for eternity,” she said about the experience. “Just knowing its eternity is torture in itself, because there’s no beginning, middle or end. So you have, like, a real ego death.”

Megan Fox Recalls "Belligerent" Golden Globes Experience That Led Her to Quit Drinking

E! NEWS 22 July, 2021 - 04:10am

The star was referring to her experience at the 2009 Golden Globes—one that was so significant, it spurred a major change in the then-22-year-old actress' life. As the Till Death actress recalled in a Who What Wear video, she was seated at a table with fellow young stars Blake Lively and the Jonas Brothers and helped herself to the bottles of champagne at the notably boozy event.

"I went through multiple glasses of that," she recalled before noting she no longer drinks. "I was belligerent and said a bunch of s--t I shouldn't have said on the red carpet after that. I think I got in a lot of trouble for whatever I said on the red carpet at this event. I don't remember why but I know that I did. You can look that up."

So, we did. In an interview with former E! Live from the Red Carpet co-host Giuliana Rancic, the Transformers alum told her, "I'm pretty sure I'm a doppelgänger for Alan Alda," and called herself a transphobic slur.

Of Salma Hayek, Fox said, "I really want her boobs. Those are the most amazing boobs." When Rancic asked her if her then-fiancé Brian Austin Green was there, the star answered, "He doesn't want to be here. He doesn't want to be my date. He's a man. He has an ego."

As she revealed in the Who What Wear video, there's something else that really bothers her from that event: her hair. "I hate wearing my hair back like this," she said. "I cannot believe I allowed this to happen because I have a huge, round forehead, so I hate wearing my hair slicked back like that."
