Franklin’s comments follow in the wake of remarks made by Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz earlier in the week when asked about fans booing players who appeared to be down on the field.
“I hope those guys are well, I don’t know what their status is,” Ferentz said. “Nobody wants to see anybody get hurt. But I think probably [the booing] is a reaction to, there were a couple of guys that were down for the count and then were back a play or two later. Our fans aren’t stupid. They’re watching, they know what’s going on.
“I’ve been here 23 years and I think that’s only the second time we’ve seen that kind of stuff going on.”
Ferentz continued with his thoughts, effectively accusing Penn State of slowing the Hawkeye offense with injury timeouts.
In total five different Penn State players left the game and did not return including starting quarterback Sean Clifford and defensive tackle PJ Mustipher. Mustipher will miss the remainder of the season with an injury according to Franklin.
Franklin’s full five minute reaction to those comments can be viewed below.
