Phil Collins Says He Can No Longer Play Drums As Genesis Embarks On Reunion Tour

It’s worth some skepticism when two people appearing together on a dating reality show reportedly get engaged.  As in, how would it NOT benefit them drag their story line out on 90 Day Fiance: The Single Life?  And it’s not Ed Brown’s first rodeo on reality TV either.

Back when he was on 90 Day Fiance: Before The 90 Days, Ed dated Rose Vega from the Philippines, but was dumped after she discovered he didn’t want more children and had a vasectomy.  Neither pieces of info were shared with Rose until after Ed got her in bed.  It was a horrible betrayal, but Rose is now living her best life thanks to the exposure she got from this disaster of a show.

Fan favorite Ed was reassigned to 90 Day: The Single Life.  At least this show doesn’t involve importing a much younger lady from a foreign country for sex.  Big Ed started dating an American girl closer to his age and financially independent.  Thanks goodness the power balance is more equal here, though it’s still pretty cringe-worthy.

Ed and Elizabeth “Liz” Woods met at her restaurant and dated through Season 1 of 90 Day: The Single Life, though it seemed that Liz was skeptical and uncomfortable the whole time.  Ed wooed her to the best of his ability, though he really should have gotten Liz her own slice of cheesecake during their romantic getaway.  It was reality TV gold, and that’s why Ed keeps getting signed for more seasons.

Everything seemed to be going well, until the Tell All Reunion when the two revealed that they had broken up.  Liz said the relationship was moving too fast.  Well, there’s nothing like a potential engagement to patch up a rocky romance that was moving too quickly.

Here’s what got the rumor going.  According to an article by Page Six, The duo were seen partying together at a club in Santa Barbara, California last week.  At the club, Ed was introducing Liz as his “beautiful fiancee.”  She was also seen in photos wearing a diamond ring on her finger.

Neither party have confirmed the engagement on their social media, nor has any public statement been given.  Perhaps it’s love, and who doesn’t want to champion happiness?  But it’s worth noting that Season 2 of 90 Day: The Single Life is in production and that Ed and Liz were asked back for another season.  Just saying.  Are these two in love for the long-haul or for reality TV fame?

Phil Collins reveals he can ‘barely hold a drum stick’ in emotional BBC interview

Louder 10 September, 2021 - 05:51am

Phil Collins opens up about his deteriorating health and says the members of Genesis are ‘probably’ putting the band to bed

Collins was speaking to the BBC's media and arts correspondent, David Sillito in a segment on BBC Breakfast News to promote Genesis’ upcoming The Last Domino? tour, which was originally scheduled to begin in November 2020, but will now commence in Dublin on September 15 at the 3Arena. Collins’ son Nic will play drums at the shows, on what will be the first Genesis tour in 14 years. The group last played together on Turn It On Again: The Tour in 2007.

“I’m kind of physically challenged a bit which is very frustrating because I’d love to be playing up there with my son,” Collins admits.

Asked if he’s able to do any drumming, Collins says, “No. I’d love to, but I mean, I can barely hold a stick with this hand. So there are certain physical things which get in the way.”

The 70-year-old drummer and singer told the BBC in an interview broadcast on Thursday that he was frustrated at the challenges he faces. He had surgery on his back in 2009 and again in 2015 that affected his nerves, and he also has diabetes.

“I’m kind of physically challenged a bit, which is very frustrating because I’d love to be playing up there,” Collins says in the video interview to promote a comeback tour by Genesis, the 1970s British progressive-rock band. “I can barely hold a stick with this hand, so there are certain physical things which get in the way.”

It is not clear when the interview was conducted. Representatives for Collins did not immediately return a request for comment on the interview, which has raised concerns on social media.

The eight-time Grammy winner says his son Nic will play drums on the tour this autumn, the first to North America by Genesis in 14 years.

Collins, who had a successful solo career in the 1980s and 1990s with hits like In the Air Tonight and One More Night, announced his retirement in 2011 but returned to the stage in 2017 for a Not Yet Dead: Live series of shows.

In the BBC interview, Collins describes the upcoming Genesis tour as putting the band to bed. “We’re all men of our age, and I think to some extent it probably is putting it to bed. I think, just generally for me, I don’t know if I want to go out on the road any more.” – Reuters

'90 Day Fiancé': Liz's Alleged Ex-Husband Spills the Tea After Big Ed Engagement

CNN 09 September, 2021 - 09:22pm

Binge-worthy entertainment news and celebrity interviews

In season 4 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, Big Ed made his big debut. He traveled to the Philippines to be with his then-girlfriend Rosemarie Vega. After they broke up, Big Ed came back to find love on 90 Day: The Single Life. Cameras followed him from the moment he asked for Liz’s number to when he asked her to move in with him. The couple had their fair share of ups and downs. When fans last saw them, Big Ed had broken up with Liz, and she was begging for him back.

Despite their roller-coaster relationship, Big Ed and Liz are now engaged! TMZ posted a photo proving that Liz is wearing an engagement ring. In the pic, Liz has her arm around Big Ed and her left hand placed on her daughter’s face in the photo. The sparkly new engagement ring clearly visible on her left ring finger. Then the outlet reported Big Ed referred to Liz as his “beautiful fiancée.”

However, not everyone is happy about their engagement. Liz’s alleged ex-husband, Saied Camacho, spoke out about his side of the story. Camacho, who goes by the username @macho.camacho1789 on Instagram, reveals some pretty shocking information to the public. He wrote a comment under a photo of Liz and Big Ed on the popular 90 Day Fiancé news Instagram, @90daythemelanatedway.

He wrote, “What makes this particular situation even funnier is she was staying in my house for the length of their break up. She would beg me to buy her a ring. She wanted a carat ring. It took them less then a week of talking to each other for them to be engaged. It’s all for the fame, they’re both equally as desperate.”

Camacho continued, “I was married to Elizabeth. She came back to me after they broke up. She lived with me for 6 months. Wanted me to marry her again and propose to her. We got into a fight a Friday night the next Friday she was engaged to Ed.”

Based on Liz’s alleged ex-husband’s comment, Liz may not be as committed to Big Ed as it seems. Many 90 Day Fiancé fans commented on his remark, wanting more proof. Many fans, however, have already taken Camacho’s side and agree with him. One Instagram user wrote, “She is getting in on the Fame of Big Ed, money! It’s All set up!”

Another fan wrote that their marriage will never actually happen and that it’s “just for publicity.” Many fans agreed with that sentiment and strongly believe that Liz is only in it for the fame and the money. Would Liz actually agree to marry Big Ed just to hope that she could be on another season?

Whether or not Liz’s ex-husband’s allegations against Liz are true, that remains to be seen. Hopefully, if Liz and Big Ed get to be on another season, TLC will answer some of these questions.

90 Day: The Single Life’s Ed Brown and Elizabeth “Liz” Woods announce their engagement to the world. Liz’s ex-husband is now spilling some tea about what he knows regarding their relationship. He claims that their relationship isn’t valid, and they’re only faking it for more 90 Day Fiancé ‘fame.’

Phil Collins detailed the extent to which his health has declined in recent years, noting that he can no longer physically play the drums.

The singer will hit the road with his band, Genesis, again later this month, reuniting with Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford. Although he’ll be singing on the tour, he’ll no longer play the drums.

The musician’s health has been in decline in recent years after suffering nerve damage from a spinal injury in 2007 that left him with damage to his vertebrae that’s forced him to be seen in a wheelchair occasionally, according to NME

The 70-year-old appeared on the BBC Breakfast show on Thursday where he discussed the upcoming Genesis tour in which his son, Nicholas, will take over drumming duties due to his dad’s declining health. Speaking on the chat show, Collins revealed that his drumming days are unfortunately behind him now.

According to Yahoo Entertainment, he was asked directly by the hosts if he ever drummed anymore these days. That's when he revealed that it's no longer possible for him physically.

"No. I’d love to, but you know, I mean, I can barely hold a stick with this hand," he said. "So there are certain physical things that get in the way."

While not being able to play the drums on the tour is disappointing for the musician, Collins noted that he is just happy to be along for the ride given that it is likely the band’s last. He described it as a way of "putting it to bed," as he mentioned in previous interviews. He also noted that he believes he’ll never hit the road as a musician again due to his health struggles.

"Yes, well you know, you say things. I mean, we’re all men of our age and I think to some extent yeah, I think it probably is putting it to bed," the "In The Air Tonight" singer said on the BBC Breakfast show. "I think, yeah, just generally for me, I don’t know if I want to go out on the road anymore."

The last time the band hit the road together was in 2007 to mark its 40th anniversary. Originally announced in 2020, "The Last Domino? Tour" was supposed to kick off last year but was waylaid by the coronavirus pandemic.

Phil Collins shares health update: "I can barely hold a stick"

NME 09 September, 2021 - 09:57am

Phil Collins has given a rare interview, in which he updated fans on his ongoing health battles and their effect on his ability to perform.

The musician has been suffering from nerve damage since a spinal injury in 2007, in which he damaged vertebrae in his upper neck.

Discussing Genesis’ forthcoming reunion tour – which will see Collins’ son Nic taking his place behind the kit – he said: “I’m kind of physically challenged a bit which is very frustrating because I’d love to be playing up there with my son.”

Speaking to BBC Breakfast, when asked if he’s still able to play he said: “No. No, I would love to but, you know, I mean I can barely hold a stick with this hand, so there are certain physical things that get in the way.”

First announced in March 2020 but delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, the upcoming Genesis tour begins next month. It will see Collins reunite with Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks, who last performed together in 2007 to mark Genesis’ 40th anniversary.

While Collins will sing, his son has been confirmed to take over on drums. “He plays a bit like me when he wants to,” Collins said when the tour was first announced.

“I’m one of his many influences, being his dad. He plays like me and he kinda has the same attitude as me, so that was a good starter.”

In 2017, Rutherford hinted that Genesis could return once again in celebration of their 50th year, though no plans materialised.

Collins and Rutherford, however, did reunite onstage last summer during the former’s solo show in Berlin. The pair played Genesis’ hit ‘Follow You Follow Me’, lifted from their 1978 album ‘…And Then There Were Three…’.

The world's defining voice in music and pop culture since 1952.
