The mischievous Hoopa is making its mark in Pokémon Go!

Hoopa's Arrival is the first event in Pokémon Go's Season of Mischief and includes the first update to the season long special research quest, Misunderstood Mischief.

Along with this, you'll also be able to complete the Hoopa's Arrival Collection Challenge and find some exclusive field research tasks during this one-day long event.

Using an Incense during Hoopa's Arrival will attract a variety of Incense spawns to your location, with the exact Pokémon changing on the hour.

Remembering Pokémon Go's remarkable first summer (5th anniversary video)

The Hoopa's Arrival event marks the first update to the Misunderstood Mischief special research quest. This special research quest will be gradually released into Pokémon Go over the course of the Season of Mischief, so, to fully complete it, you need to keep an eye on the upcoming events.

Quest steps 2 to 4 are now available for completion and you can learn more about the exact challenges in our Misunderstood Mischief guide.

According to the official Pokémon Go blog, we can expect the next update for this special research quest on Wednesday, 8th September at the start of the Psychic Spectacular event.

The Hoopa's Day Collection Challenges in Pokémon Go tasks you with catching 13 Pokémon, which are attracted to Incense throughout the event. Don't worry if you've run out of Incense, because there is a free bundle available from the shop.

Remember - you only have between 11am to 5pm (local time) on Sunday, 5th September to complete this Collection Challenge or else it will vanish forever.

Here are the Pokémon, in National Pokédex order, you need to catch to complete the Hoopa's Arrival Collection Challenge:

Completing this challenge will reward you with 7200 XP, 10 Hoopa Candy and the Poké Ball Lift pose for your avatar.

Specific types of Pokémon are attracted to Incense, with the types changing on the hour, throughout the Hoopa's Arrival event in Pokémon Go. The types in question reflect Hoopa's own typing - both in its Confined and Unbound form - being psychic, ghost and dark.

Here are the following hours during the Hoopa's Arrival event when the above types will be active:

Don't forget to transfer any spare Pokémon, because, during Hoopa's Arrival, there's a double transfer candy bonus!

During the psychic-type hours, the following Pokémon will be attracted to Incense among others:

Throughout the dark and ghost-type hours, you'll be able to encounter the following Pokémon, among others, by using Incense:

Throughout the Hoopa's Arrival event in Pokémon Go, you'll be able to collect a selection of event exclusive field research tasks. These tasks can be either completed during the event or saved in your research collection, so you can complete them at your pleasure.

Since the Hoopa's Arrival event is only running from 11am to 5pm (local time) on Sunday, 5th September, you have a small window to find these field research tasks in, so, if there's one you want to complete, make sure you take the time to find it.

Here are the Hoopa's Arrival field research tasks:

The Hoopa's Arrival Collection Challenge, along with the event's other bonuses, will only be available on Sunday, 5th September from 11am to 5pm (local time).

Like previous Collection Challenges, you need to obtain a specific list of Pokémon through either catching them or another specific method, such as evolution, to complete this challenge. After doing so, you'll receive the Collection Challenge's rewards and it will be added to your Elite Collector medal.

Collection Challenges are located on the 'Today View' screen, which is accessed by pressing the field research button - the little binoculars - in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. You may have to scroll to the left if you've previously been looking at the field research or special research screen.

When you catch a Pokémon on the Collection Challenge rooster it will be ticked off this list, helping you keep track of which creatures you're missing.

Remember - you must complete the Hoopa's Arrival Collection by 5pm (local time) or else you won't be able to earn its rewards.

Have fun during Hoopa's Arrival and completing the next stages of Misunderstood Mischief!

Hoopa Arrives Today In Special Pokémon GO Event

Bleeding Cool News 05 September, 2021 - 12:13pm

After a summer of build-up, the Mythical Pokémon Hoopa will be released today in Pokémon GO. The Hoopa's Arrival Event, which also functions as an Incense Day, begins at 11 AM local time today, September 5th. It will add another page to the season-long Misunderstood Mischief questline, which we have the tasks and rewards for below. Let's get into the details of this highly anticipated event.

Here's how Niantic described the event over on the official Pokémon GO blog:

Available beginning Sunday, September 5, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. local time

Complete the seasonal Special Research tasks for an opportunity to catch Hoopa!

On Sunday, September 5, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time, various strange phenomena will be happening all around the world —maybe this has something to do with Hoopa?!

We can now confirm the updated tasks and rewards for the season-long, 16-page Misunderstood Mischief Special Research in Pokémon GO. The current quest is:

It seems that pages like Page Two and now Page Four will essentially function as blocks to keep Pokémon GO trainers from advancing. Once the blocks lift and it becomes time to move to the next page, these block pages will turn into auto-claim rewards.

Here is the breakdown of the event's rotating schedule:

How to Catch Confined Hoopa in Pokemon GO – September 2021

DualShockers 05 September, 2021 - 03:36am

This year has already seen the release of X and Y’s Xerneas and Yveltal and Sword and Shield’s Zacian and Zamazenta and now, we are all set to receive our second mythical Pokemon of the year, Hoopa (following Meloetta from this year’s GO Fest).

Hoopa, the Mischief Pokemon, will be available as part of Pokemon GO’s latest quarterly season, the Season of Mischief.

As we’re into it now, here is what you can do to make sure you can encounter and catch a Confined Hoopa as soon as possible.

After months of teases, leading back to GO Fest in July, Hoopa will be available for players to encounter and capture from today, Sunday, September 5.

The Pokemon will finally be available at 10 am in your local time zone.

For players to earn their encounter with Hoopa, they will need to complete step three of the Season-long Special Research Story, titled Misunderstood Mischief.

After completing step one, which includes the tricky “Take 3 Snapshots of Wild Psychic-type Pokemon” task, players will have to then complete step three (don’t worry about step two, there are no tasks and it just serves as a barrier between step one and three).

Players will need to complete these three tasks:

After completing all three tasks and claiming the rewards, players will earn their Hoopa encounter (along with 1000 XP and 1000 Stardust).

What’s particularly interesting is that Hoopa has been rewarded so early into the season and into the research, so it remains to be seen what Niantic still has up its sleeves to keep things fresh for the remaining 85 days.

Some extra challenges for the one-day event.

The first of several new events for Pokémon Go’s Season of Mischief is here, finally giving players a chance to encounter the Mythical Pokémon Hoopa. The Hoopa’s Arrival challenge will only last a single day, but it leads to a much larger series of events that might further expand on the Pokémon’s abilities, even in its confined state.

Along with some hourly Pokémon rotations, new event-exclusive research, and the ability to capture Hoopa, a new Collection Challenge will also be live from 11am to 5pm local time on Sept. 5.

Since this ties into the rotating Dark and Psychic-type spawn hours running throughout the event, you will need to focus on capturing specific species to get valuable rewards, such as additional Hoopa Candy and XP. Here’s how you can complete the Hoopa’s Arrival Collection Challenge.

Total rewards: 7,200 XP, 10 Hoopa Candy, and a Poké Ball Lift Avatar Pose

All Shiny Pokémon available during Pokémon Go's Hoopa's Arrival event | Dot Esports

Dot Esports 04 September, 2021 - 05:39pm

The Mischief Pokémon may reward you with some Shiny friends.

Hoopa is continuing to bring tons of Pokémon into the world of Pokémon Go through its rings, but the Mischief Pokémon’s schemes have grown now that Hoopa is sneaking ever closer into players’ grasps.

Alongside the Hoopa’s Arrival event, which gives players access to the next step of the Season of Mischief’s Special Research, the Mischief Pokémon has summoned numerous Ghost, Dark, and Psychic-type Pokémon in large amounts. The types of Pokémon appearing will rotate every hour starting at 11am local time. The rotation kicks off with the Psychic-hour, followed by the Ghost and Dark-type hour.

Among all of the Pokémon with increased encounter rates during this event, many of them have the possibility to be Shiny. However, the rates for Shiny encounters are not increased like during Community Days. The following Pokémon can appear as Shiny during the Hoopa’s Arrival event:

Each of these Pokémon will revert to their normal spawn rates when the one-day event ends at 5pm local time. This also coincides with the new Collection Challenge for catching many of these featured Pokémon during the event.

Players that log in to Pokémon Go during the Season of Mischief will receive the new Special Research featuring the Mythical Pokémon, Hoopa, and get the next step of the research during this event. After completing the new step of the research, players will be able to encounter the Mischief Pokémon itself and have the chance to catch it.

How to catch Hoopa in Pokémon Go | Dot Esports

Dot Esports 04 September, 2021 - 01:37pm

Can you out-trick the Mischief Pokémon?

Hoopa, the first of three Mythical Pokémon native to the Kalos Region, will soon use its portals to teleport directly into the hands of Pokémon Go players. After months of playing tricks with its rings, players will be able to harness that power for themselves.

As a part of the ongoing Season of Mischief, Hoopa will be appearing in a Special Research story that will have players traversing the Mischief Pokémon’s tricks for months to come. Starting Sept. 5, players will have access to new parts of the Special Research and finally be able to capture the Mischief Pokémon in its Confined Form.

Similar to previous Special Research that has allowed players to capture Mythical Pokémon like Mew, Jirachi, and Meloetta, players must complete various pages of tasks to progress through the story. These tasks involve catching different types of Pokémon, taking snapshots, and more, though information regarding the tasks leading up to Hoopa’s encounter has yet to be revealed.

Each Mythical Pokémon encountered via Special Research has had a special capture background, such as Mew prompting the player to use the AR mode while disappearing periodically and Meloetta being caught on a stage. Hoopa will likely utilize its rings in some capacity when players encounter it, the same way it has been doing to bring various Legendary Pokémon and creatures from the Galar region into Pokémon Go. Niantic hasn’t yet confirmed this, however.

Players can look forward to finally meeting the Mischief Pokémon, Hoopa, up close and personal in Pokémon Go when the next phase of the Season of Mischief Special Research launches on Sept. 5. Catching Hoopa is not the end of this Special Research, however, meaning we may have some unexpected tricks waiting for us down the line.
