When is the ps5 restocking?

A PS5 restock is slated for Wednesday, June 23. Just as Prime Day deals come to an end, Sony Direct will have an invite-only PS5 restock. Tom's GuidePS5 restock update: Track on Twitter, Best Buy, Target and more

The free PS Plus monthly games reveal is always a highlight for PlayStation Plus subscribers.

Unfortunately, however, there's bad news for fans awaiting the July 2021 free PS5 and PS4 games reveal, because it's still over a week away.

Because of the way the dates fall, Sony isn't expected to reveal the next wave of PlayStation Plus games until 4.30pm June 30.

The July 2021 PS Plus releases will be available to download and play less than a week later on July 6.

While there's always a chance Sony will break with tradition and announce the games early, this seems unlikely without a State of Play event in the diary.

It's more likely that the next batch of PlayStation Plus free games will leak ahead of the scheduled reveal.

Indeed, if the latest reports are to be believed, one PS Plus free game may have already leaked.

According to the rumours, the PS5 version of A Plague Tale Innocence could be included in the July 2021 PS Plus line-up.

The rumours mainly revolve around the plans for the PS5 and Xbox Series X upgrades of A Plague Tale.

With the game also coming to Xbox Game Pass, the thinking is that it would be a great fit for PlayStation Plus, especially with the announcement of a sequel.

The next-gen Plague Tale update will include a visual boost for 4K graphics and 60 frames-per-second gameplay.

Needless to say, the PS5 version will support 3D Audio, while DualSense functionality is also expected.

A unique game involving Inquisition soldiers and swarms of rats, A Plague Tale is currently sitting pretty with an 81% score on Metacritic.

"Hunted by Inquisition soldiers and surrounded by unstoppable swarms of rats, Amicia and Hugo will come to know and trust each other.

"As they struggle to survive against overwhelming odds, they will fight to find purpose in this brutal, unforgiving world."

The sequel - which was announce during E3 - will launch on PlayStation, Xbox, PC and Nintendo Switch (via the cloud) in 2022.

PS5 restock: Sony Direct virtual queue was only for people with email invites

TechRadar 27 June, 2021 - 04:06pm

Our PS5 restock Twitter tracker Matt Swider has helped over 50,000 people buy a console with his instant alerts. Sadly, the Sony Direct virtual queue was rather limited today.

According to our PS5 restock Twitter tracker Matt Swider, this is the first time this has happened – there are usually leftovers. Matt will send you an alert when the Sony console is in stock – if you follow his account and turn on notifications.

Trust and credibility: Matt Swider has helped over 50,000 people buy a next-gen console in recent weeks. How? With his tireless 24/7 tracking, in-stock Twitter alerts and exclusive restock reporting. Sony Direct is a lottery system, so as soon as there's a restock, everyone has an even chance. But you'll need a prompt alert.

Matt did a live stream with tips on how to buy PS5, despite the fact that there was no PS5 Sony Direct virtual queue for the masses at 5pm EDT. He took questions in the live chat.

Click on this example of a Sony Direct PS5 restock tweet (the one from June 17 – last week) to follow Matt Swider and turn on notifications (the little bell icon).

Here's how to we know there will be a Sony Direct restock today, June 23: the official store for the PlayStation brand sent email invites to PSN users (it's done at random, you can't really do anything to increase your chances) for a special 3pm EDT / 12pm PDT virtual queue, and quite a lot of people got the invite this time, according to our exclusive reporting and research (though not as many seemed to have gotten it as last week). And it's definitely next since the GameStop Xbox Series X restock doesn't include PS5 this time around (GameStop had it last week).

Usually, we say: don't despair if you didn't get an email invite from Sony – the Sony Direct virtual queue has previously always opened up to the general public today at 5pm EDT. Technically the virtual queue opens at 5:15pm EDT, while a waiting room fills at 5pm EDT. Turns out, that wasn't the case this on June 23.

Previously the Sony Direct restock time was all over the place, but Sony has recently settled on 5pm EDT / 2pm PDT for launching that waiting room right before the virtual queue's yellow progress bar appears. Again, it didn't happen today, but we're confident Sony Direct will return to form soon.

The Sony Direct PS5 restock for email invitees wasn't the first time we saw the PS5 in stock this week. We got an overnight Amazon PS5 restock at 12am EDT on Wednesday, June 23 – and Matt Swider sent out an alert if you were following him on Twitter, though with Amazon being so popular at the close of Prime Day 2021 deals it was a difficult one.

We thought there'd be a chance at redemption with the Sony Direct virtual queue for everyone at the usual time of 5pm EDT. But it turned out to be limited to those wth that special Sony Direct email invite at the 2pm EDT virtual queue.

Last week was very successful for a lot of PS5 buyers at Walmart, Sam's Club, Target and Antonline. Newegg did have a PS5 Digital bundle in stock this week alongside of its GPU restock, but that was also a lottery system, and a much smaller one.

The Best Buy PS5 restock, originally scheduled for Monday, has been delayed (likely originally meant to compete with Amazon during Prime Day). We don't have a new date from our sources.

Walmart hasn't had the PS5 console yet this week (it's usually on Thursday), but it did make PS5 restock news: a lot of people who bought PS5 Digital last week got a free upgrade to PS5 Disc – without paying for the $100 premium.

The Amazon PS5 restock time overnight this week made perfect sense. Just after 12am ET (technically Wednesday) marked the last three hours of Prime Day. Plenty of Amazon customers had items sitting in their cart, and by offering a PS5, it was the fastest way for Amazon to get people checking out at lightning speed.

The Sony Direct virtual queue is 'fair' compared to, say, Walmart which opens up orders and only sometimes has the add-to-cart or checkout buttons working. Sony has made PS5 sales into a lottery of sorts, and the only thing you need is a PSN account.

No one knows for sure how Sony picks people for the invite email (it's vaguely based on "PlayStation activity", but if you get one, you're almost sure to get a console because that earlier virtual queue time is limited to a small group of buyers.

We'll have more advice on the PS5 restock at Sony Direct as the virtual queue opens up next time there's a restock. Make sure to turn on alerts so you know exactly when the restock time is, as it can switch around.

Best Buy PS5 restock sold out — where to find inventory next

Tom's Guide 27 June, 2021 - 04:06pm

The PS5 has returned to Best Buy

A Best Buy PS5 drop is taking place right now. The electronics retailer hasn’t restocked Sony’s flagship gaming console since June 3, so it was long overdue.

While it’s been a frustrating few weeks for anyone still trying to secure one of these in-demand machines, the good news is that Best Buy has both the PS5 with disc and PS5 Digital available as standalone consoles.

The tip-off came by way of Matt Swider of TechRadar, who is a very prominent figure in the PS5 restock tracking world. According to his sources at Best Buy, inventory is trickling through to regional warehouses after several weeks of zero next-gen console stock.

Internal whispers had suggested a restock on Monday (June 21) was a possibility. The rumors of an imminent Best Buy restock are bolstered by the retailer adding a new listing for a PS5 bundle that includes the console itself and a copy of Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart a few weeks ago. For now, the listing is marked sold-out but orders will likely be taken in the near future. (Although that bundle isn't available during today's restock).

If you want someone else to do the hard work of keeping tabs on PS5 drops for you, then make sure to bookmark our PS5 restock hub. Here we’ll update you with the latest stock information as we get it so you never miss a drop.

As with most retailers, setting up a Best Buy account ahead of time should be your first priority. You want to make sure that your payment details and address information is pre-saved, in order to shave precious time off your checkout; that could be the difference between securing a PS5 and being left empty-handed.

It’s also important to note that Best Buy is not currently delivering PS5 consoles — though the order process takes place online, you must opt for in-store pick-up. So, if you don’t have a local Best Buy, or don’t have the ability to get to your local store, then Best Buy may not be the PS5 retailer for you.

Once you’re able to add to cart, you might see a message telling you the PS5 is no longer in stock. Should that happen, you need to change your location to one that has the system in stock. Randall recommends that if the PS5 is showing as out of stock everywhere, leave the page as it is and open a new one. Repeat the process outlined above until the “add to cart” button appears again, then go back to the original page you had open and try again to choose a location.

Best Buy, like several other retailers, is releasing its PS5 stock in waves, so hang around even if the site initially reads sold out during a restock window, as another opportunity to get a PS5 may appear. Investing some time into the process could pay off as other people may give up and lose patience.

The retailer will also ask you to enter a supplied code during the purchasing process, and you have the option for this to be sent via text or email. Always opt for text, as it’ll come through almost instantly. Email codes can take a while to come through or get lost in a spam filter, and by the time you’ve recovered it, the console will likely be out of stock again.

It looks like this week's rumoured Amazon UK PS5 stock drop may have been delayed.

Amazon was tipped to restock the PlayStation 5 during its Prime Day promotion, which ended on June 22.

Unfortunately, however, with no signs of the PS5 restock at Amazon, one stock checker site believes that the stock drop may have been delayed.

That's according to PS5 UK Stock, which points out that there are currently no signs of a restock.

"I'm not convinced Amazon UK will drop," reads a PS5 UK Stock tweet. "We haven't seen any of the normal signs. We don't trust the source of the rumours. They haven't populated the R&C bundle page. This is just our opinion and we could be wrong."

There are rumours that the PlayStation 5 could be restocked at Argos, potentially overnight, but more likely next week.

Tesco could also drop stock before the end of the week, alongside Scan on June 24.

Finally, GameByte has confirmed plans to restock the device "soon", and will send out the link to customers registered on the site's mailing list.

"We will have a limited stock of PS5’s launching soon on site. In a bid to protect genuine gamers and combat bots, we will be sending out the link to purchase to those registered to GameByte’s mailing list."

GameByte has confirmed that registered customers will receive an email once the device is back in stock.

According to a GameByte spokesperson, the PlayStation 5 restock will take place on June 24.
