CM Punk reveals what Christian Cage told him backstage in AEW

Sportskeeda 04 September, 2021 - 03:00pm

CM Punk has revealed that Christian Cage had a message for him when they had a discussion backstage at AEW.

CM Punk returned for another round with Oral Sessions with Renée Paquette as they discussed him being in AEW and all the opportunities and challenges that come with it.

When asked about the locker room, Punk said that there were a lot of familiar faces. The conversation turned to stars like Christian and Edge getting second chances after injury.

Renee inquired if the former multi-time WWE World Champion has had discussions with Christian about returning to the ring after a long layoff. Punk said that they talked about the younger talent. CM Punk said:

CM Punk further said that guys like him, Christian, and (maybe) Daniel Bryan would lead by example, and their style would be collaborative as opposed to dictatorial. In a sense, Punk said they would offer input and suggestions rather than impose their perspective on the younger talent.

CM Punk is all set to take on Darby Allin at All Out. Will it be the first of many wins for Punk in AEW? We'll have to tune in and find out.

Sportskeeda 04 September, 2021 - 12:56pm

CM Punk was a guest on Oral Sessions with Renée Paquette to discuss his AEW debut, and of course, the conversation veered to his upcoming match with Darby Allin at AEW All Out. When Darby Allin is in the discussion, Sting is not far behind as Punk was asked about Sting in AEW.

Punk responded that he never thought he would share the same space as him. CM Punk said:

CM Punk believes Sting never got the 'Top Guy' credit due to possibly playing second fiddle to Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan. But Punk says that Sting was always there and could be relied upon at all times.

Tony Khan comments on potential surprises for AEW All Out

Wrestling News 04 September, 2021 - 11:00am

AEW Owner/President Tony Khan was interviewed on “Sitting Ringside with David Penzer” to talk about Sunday’s AEW All Out pay-per-view.

Khan talked about CM Punk and a lot of the positive things that have been happening with the company since its launch in 2019. Khan promised that fans will be happy with what they see at the pay-per-view tomorrow night.

Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Bryan Danielson is basically locked in for All Out and there have been many hints that certainly point to Danielson debuting in AEW very soon.

During the interview with Penzer, Khan was asked about possible surprises on the show. Khan said the following: “Well I can’t say much and I don’t want to tip off anything and I don’t want to create uh – let’s just say I would strongly recommend everybody orders the pay-per-view. I think it’s going to be an amazing show, the wrestling will be great and there’s gonna be some indelible moments and I promise a great show. I don’t want to necessarily answer that question but I think if everyone tunes into All Out this weekend they are gonna get a great show and I’ll leave it at that.”

During his first appearance on Dynamite, CM Punk pretty much confirmed that Danielson is on his way to AEW and he sort of confirmed it on Renee Paquette’s podcast. During Punk’s interview, he said that if he was fantasy booking, he would want to team up with “American Dragon” (Danielson) against The Young Bucks.
