When asked about the TV shows that she had on during the pandemic, Jennifer said it was mostly the news, as she went "through news fatigue, panic fatigue," praying there would be something "hopeful".

She added: "And there's still a large group of people who are anti-vaxxers or just don't listen to the facts. It's a real shame. I've just lost a few people in my weekly routine who have refused or did not disclose [whether or not they had been vaccinated], and it was unfortunate."

Jennifer explained that she felt it was someone's "moral and professional obligation" to state if they had been vaccinated, especially as people weren't being tested every day.

However, she did admit that people do view vaccines differently, saying: "It's tricky because everyone is entitled to their own opinion — but a lot of opinions don't feel based in anything except fear or propaganda."

As vaccinations opened up across the United States, numerous high-profile celebrities, including Amanda Seyfried and Christie Brinkley, took to their social media pages to post about having the jab.

In their posts, they urged the general public to follow in their footsteps.

Jennifer is the cover-girl for September's issue of InStyle, and she floored fans with her incredible sense of style and physique when the cover image was released.

The 52-year-old looked phenomenal in a turtleneck white top and a matching white skirt, with slits that showed off both her incredibly toned legs as she sat en pointe.

She also showed more of the photographs from the shoot, one which saw her in a multi-colored maxi dress, and another wearing a colorful combo of a sweater vest and a fur-lined skirt, bathed in the golden sheen of sunlight.

"I could not have had more fun playing house and going back in time with @emmasummerton. To @laurabrown99 and the entire @instylemagazine team… thanks for always keeping this girl in style," she wrote in the caption.

Her celebrity fans fell in love with the image, as Lisa Kudrow commented: "You're fantastic!!!!!" and Reese Witherspoon wrote: "Gorgeous lady!!"

Courteney Cox left a series of heart and fire emojis in her wake, while Sean Hayes said: "Hot cha cha!!"

But it wasn't just the famous fans who fell in love, as one follower posted: "Ma'am you are GORGEOUS," and another added: "MAMA U LOOK SO STUNNING."

R Kelly had 'sexual contact' with Aaliyah when she was 15, lawyer says

Daily Mail 03 August, 2021 - 05:50pm

A lawyer for R. Kelly appeared to admit in Brooklyn Federal Court on Tuesday that the R&B singer had 'sexual contact' with Aaliyah when she was just 15 years old.

The 54-year-old singer, born Robert Sylvester Kelly, appeared in court with his attorney Thomas Farinella for a pre-trial hearing in a racketeering case slated to start next Monday.

Among other allegations, the 'I Believe I Can Fly' singer has been accused of bribing an official in Illinois in 1994 to issue an illegal wedding certificate to Aaliyah that said she was 18 years old when she was just 15 years old.

Farinella appeared to make the shocking admission while being questioned by Judge Ann Donnelly - who asked if he was going to deny there was sexual contact between Jane Doe 1, the alias used for Aaliyah in the case, the New York Daily News reported.

'Are you going to deny that there was sexual contact with Jane Doe 1? They were married,' Donnelly said.

'No,' Farinella responded after a 'deep sigh', according to the outlet.

But Farinella then appeared to walk back the admission after federal prosecutor Elizabeth Geddes reminded him that Aaliyah, born Aaliyah Dana Haughton, was underage at the time.

Geddes asked: 'Are they not going to dispute that at the time Jane Doe 1 was 13 to 15 years old?'

'We do dispute. We're not prepared to concede that right now,' Farinella said.

The Daily News noted that it was not clear to the outlet if Farinella was referring to Aaliyah’s age or if the two had a sexual relationship.

Aaliyah was introduced to Kelly by her uncle Barry Hankerson - a record producer and manager who represented him.

Kelly and Aaliyah had a quiet friendship and were married in secret in 1994 when he was 27 years old and she was still underage.

That year, Aaliyah released her debut album Age Ain't Nothing but a Number - the title song of which lyrically tells the story of a girl wanting to date an older man.

The marriage was annulled in 1995 - and Aaliyah tragically died in an August 2001 plane crash in the Bahamas on her way back from filming the music video for her song Rock the Boat.

Prosecutors allege that Kelly trafficked women and girls across state lines, making child pornography featuring numerous minors, the Daily News reported.

His alleged victims were reportedly forced to call him 'daddy' and not permitted to eat without his permission.

Prosecutors and Kelly's defense team fought in court on Tuesday over whether allegations that the singer had sex with underage boys and forced them to have sex with underage girls could be permitted in court, according to the Daily News.

Kelly was arrested in July 2019 and has remained in jail since his arrest.

Devereaux Cannick, another lawyer for Kelly, said the singer's funds have been 'depleted' because he has not worked since his arrest - and asked the judge to provide him with free court transcripts.

Cannick also said Kelly has 'gained weight since' since he's been in jail and requested a tailor to provide the singer with clothes that fit for trial, the Daily News reported.

Acting U.S. Attorney Jacquelyn M. Kasulis has said one witness will testify at trial that he believed Kelly had 'impregnated' Aaliyah while she was underage, Complex reported.

As noted by Biography, Demetrius Smith Sr. - a former member of Kelly's team - alleged that Aaliyah was pregnant with Kelly's baby in a 2011 book.

R. Kelly Attorney Backtracks After Declining to Deny Client Had 'Sexual Contact' With Aaliyah

Yahoo Entertainment 03 August, 2021 - 02:33pm

One of R. Kelly’s attorneys reportedly declined to deny on Tuesday that the disgraced singer had “sexual contact” with the late Aaliyah while she was a minor. Later, however, the same attorney seemingly walked back the non-denial.

Asked Tuesday during pre-trial proceedings related to Kelly’s Brooklyn Federal Court sex trafficking case whether the defense was “going to deny that there was sexual contact with Jane Doe 1,” attorney Thomas Farinella—per Noah Goldberg for the New York Daily News—reportedly responded with a “deep sigh” before offering a “no” when Judge Ann Donnelly noted that Kelly and Jane Doe 1 were married. Notably, Jane Doe 1 was previously reported by the New York Times to be Aaliyah.

From there, the report adds, Elizabeth Geddes—a federal prosecutor—stepped in.

“Are they not going to dispute that at the time Jane Doe 1 was 13 to 15 years old?” Geddes is said to have asked, with Farinella responding that they “do dispute” and were not “prepared to concede that right now.” The report makes it clear that it wasn’t certain whether Farinella was referencing the age or the nature of the relationship in his comments.

Among the allegations against Kelly, who was jailed in Brooklyn in June, are that he bribed a state official in Illinois in connection with a marriage certificate listing Aaliyah’s age as 18. At the time, Aaliyah would have been 15 years old.

Complex has reached out to a rep for Farinella, as well as fellow Kelly lawyer Devereaux Cannick, for comment and will update this post accordingly.

As previously reported, Kelly’s legal team had pushed back against prosecutors’ request to include additional allegations in the trial, opening arguments for which are slated for Aug. 18. In July, Kelly’s legal team said the request was “unequivocally inadmissible,” citing the Federal Rules of Evidence and arguing that their client’s rights would be violated.

In court documents obtained by Complex, dated Aug. 2, Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York Jacquelyn M. Kasulis said evidence from approximately 1992 and 1993 regarding Kelly’s “introduction to and sexual conduct with” Aaliyah is admissible because it’s an example of “direct evidence” of racketeering.

Kasulis also said there was no merit to Kelly’s claims of there being no evidence “supporting sexual activity” between him and Aaliyah while the latter was a minor. According to Kasulis, one witness will testify that he believed Kelly “impregnated Jane Doe 1.”
