Former All-Pro Richard Sherman was arrested early Wednesday morning on a burglary domestic violence charge, but new disturbing details surrounding the arrest emerged later in the afternoon.

The audio of Sherman’s wife, Ashley Moss, calling 911 was obtained by KIRO in Seattle. She explained to the dispatcher that Sherman was drunk and threatened to commit suicide. She added that he was aggressive and physical.

Sherman reportedly tried breaking into his in-laws' home in Redmond, Washington around 2 a.m., according to Redmond Police Chief Darrell Lowe. Police officers tried to calm the situation down, authorities said. One state trooper developed some kind of rapport with Sherman and told him how he once parked his car while he was working as a valet when he was a teenager.

Lowe stated that the tactics worked, but Sherman fought back once the officers told him that he was under arrest. That’s when police officers summoned a K-9 to take him down. According to the officers, Sherman was taken to the hospital to be examined for any injuries. He was eventually booked into the King County jail in Seattle just after 6 a.m.

Sherman, 33, was denied bail but a spokesperson with the Redmond Police Department told ESPN that it is standard procedure until suspects of domestic violence can appear before a judge.

It was before 1:30 a.m. when the Washington State Patrol received a 911 call from a construction crew working along State Route 520 east of Seattle. The caller said that an apparently intoxicated driver entered the closed construction zone. As the vehicle left the zone, it struck a barricade, sustaining significant driver-side damage, Patrol Capt. Ron Mead told a news conference on Wednesday.

While he was at the hospital, troopers obtained a warrant for a blood draw to test for intoxicants, Mead said. Results were pending, but the patrol was recommending additional charges of driving under the influence and hit-and-run.

The NFLPA released a statement saying: "We will continue to monitor events closely as more facts are made available to us."

Sherman became a Seattle sports all-time great during seven seasons with the Seahawks. He was a key piece during their incredible run to a 2014 Super Bowl victory.

A five-time Pro Bowler, Sherman spent the last three seasons with the San Francisco 49ers but missed much of the 2020 season because of a calf strain. He was released in February.

Richard Sherman also being investigated in connection with hit-and-run

Yardbarker 14 July, 2021 - 09:39pm

Richard Sherman was booked on a charge of burglary domestic violence in the Seattle area on Wednesday morning, and he could face further legal trouble over a separate incident.

Washington State Police are also investigating Sherman in connection to a hit-and-run, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports. Police say they received a call at around 1 a.m. PST of a single-car incident in which a car struck a concrete barrier.

The driver apparently was able to drive the vehicle off the exit and abandoned it in a nearby parking lot. The registration was run, and it came back to Richard Sherman. https://t.co/WvJgxn9OfX

That incident would have occurred a few hours before the one that resulted in Sherman being booked and charged. Public records indicate that Sherman was charged with burglary domestic violence at 6:08 a.m. Police say they responded to a 911 call at 2 a.m. from someone who said an adult male family member (presumably Sherman) was trying to force his way into a residence. The man does not live at the home.

Sherman was being held without bail as of Wednesday morning. That is standard procedure in a domestic violence case until the person charged can appear in front of a judge.

Sherman, 33, is a free agent. He missed 11 games last year with a calf injury. The five-time Pro Bowler is said to be open to returning to the Seattle Seahawks. He was also recently linked to another NFC contender.

The legal trouble could certainly impact Sherman’s offseason, especially with the market for his services not looking all that robust.

Listen: Richard Sherman’s Wife Claims he was Threatening To “Kill Himself” During 911 Call

Awesemo.com 14 July, 2021 - 09:39pm

Veteran NFL corner Richard Sherman is in trouble after being arrested on a “burglary domestic violence” charge on Wednesday morning. But when his wife, Ashley Moss, called the police, it revealed a different problem altogether.

When listening to Ashley’s 911 call prior to the arrest she revealed that her husband (Richard Sherman) was becoming aggressive with family after drinking hard alcohol. She also made the troubling claim that Sherman was “threatening to kill himself”.

Here’s the 911 call by Richard Sherman’s wife, Ashley Moss:

While reports came out that Ashley Moss was Richard Sherman’s ex wife, she made it clear that her and Sherman were very much still married.

She also wanted everyone to know that Sherman didn’t hurt anybody, and she wants him to be released on bail.

“At this time we’re going to make no statements, except he didn’t harm anybody,” Moss, the mother of Sherman’s two children, told The Seattle Times. “My kids were not harmed in the incident. He’s a good person and this is not his character. We’re doing all right, just trying to get him out. I want people to know no one was injured.”

We hope that Richard Sherman can get the help he needs. And we’ll await any new developments.

Wife Ashley Moss: Richard Sherman 'didn't harm anybody'

Yardbarker 14 July, 2021 - 02:37pm

Star cornerback Richard Sherman was arrested early Wednesday morning for “burglary domestic violence,” and that’s not all.

He’s also being investigated for a hit-and-run an hour or so prior to the incident, and police say a K9 was used to take him down after he became “combative” with them. Needless to say, it’s a serious situation, but fortunately it now sounds like the worst was avoided. Even though he was arrested for alleged domestic violence, Sherman’s wife Ashley Moss issued a statement to Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times that nobody was hurt.

As Moss alluded to, the family members are still trying to get him out of jail because he’s currently being held without bail. They might have to wait a bit. Sherman hasn’t been formally charged yet and can’t be until he appears in court, which won’t be until Thursday afternoon, Adam Schefter of ESPN.com tweets. Sherman will remain in King County Correctional Facility for at least another day.

It's positive news that there apparently wasn’t any physical violence, but it certainly doesn’t mean that Sherman is off the hook. He still may be in big trouble, and it will likely take a while to fully play out.
