Created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, Rick and Morty is a popular American animated science fiction series. The show features the crazy adventures of mad scientist Rick and his grandson Morty.

The first season of the show premiered back in December 2013, and since then, the Smith family has caught the attention of millions of viewers. So, it’s no wonder why fans don’t want this amazing show to end with just five seasons.

In May 2018, Adult Swim confirmed that Rick and Morty would run for at least another 70 episodes. At the time, the show’s fourth season was yet to come out. Meaning, after Season 4 and Season 5, consisting of 10 episodes each, there are 50 more Rick and Morty episodes left. So, it pretty much confirms that the Smith family will indeed be back with another season.

Rick and Morty have been consistent with the number of episodes in each season. Considering that, it’s safe to presume that Season 6 would also consist of 10 episodes, leaving the remaining episodes for future seasons.

Unfortunately, there’s no official release window for Rick and Morty Season 6 when writing this post. Back in June 2020, Dan Harmon confirmed that the writers are working on Season 6. Judging from all that, we can assume that Season 6 is already in production.

Interestingly, there’s a high chance that the writers might already be working on Season 7. Alex Rubens, one of the writers for Rick and Morty, sort of confirmed this by a tweet earlier this year.

Am I allowed to say we started writing Rick and Morty Season 7? (If not we didn’t and I’m not)

Anyway, the time gap between the fourth season’s end and Season 5’s beginning was 11 months. So, if everything turns out right and Season 6 is indeed in production, we might see the new season premiering in the second half of 2022.

However, it’s hard to put a pin on it until we hear something from creators. Who knows, maybe Adult Swim will give us Season 6 a little sooner, but for now, we have no choice but to wait for any official confirmation.
