When a fan asked Sarah Jessica if she was excited to be back on set for the series, she couldn't help but gush over reuniting with her girls. "So many feelings," she responded. "Cynthia walked into the trailer, I wouldn't let go of her!"
HBO Max also confirmed production of the 10-episode series had started in New York City and gave fans their first look at Sarah Jessica, Cynthia and Kristin reprising their roles.
Just the day before, SJP posted a photo of her script in preparation for the big day, revealing the title of the first episode is aptly called, "Hello, It's Me."

Parker (who plays Carrie Bradshaw) and Nixon (Miranda Hobbs) reunited in New York City on Friday for the first day of filming the highly-anticipated revival titled And Just Like That, and they let their gray hair shine on screen.
Nixon could be seen with her chic silver strands in a sleek pixie cut, while Parker let a few bits of gray hair emerge from her roots.
On Friday, HBO Max released a first look image at the upcoming revival, which shows Parker and Nixon in the same ensembles that paparazzi photographed them wearing, along with Kristin Davis (Charlotte York Goldenblatt) strutting through the streets together.
"Here she comes," Parker added on her own page, captioning a selfie from the hair and makeup chair.
Parker, 56, Nixon, 55, and Davis, 56, announced the Sex and the City revival series on Instagram in January with a teaser trailer. The show, which will pick up with Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte as they navigate love and life in their 50s, comes after the former HBO series ended in 2004 after six seasons and two subsequent movies, the last of which hit theaters in 2010. The reboot does not have an official premiere date yet.
Kim Cattrall, who previously played Samantha Jones, is not returning for And Just Like That, though many other former cast members will make apperanes.
HBO Max announced Mario Cantone (Anthony Marantino), David Eigenberg (Steve Brady), Willie Garson (Stanford Blatch), Evan Handler (Harry Goldenblatt) and Chris Noth (John James "Mr. Big" Preston) are all reprising their original roles.

Grab your cosmos! On January 10, Sarah Jessica Parker announced that an official Sex and the City revival is coming! The original series aired on HBO from 1998 to 2004, spanning 94 episodes during its six seasons. The show, which followed best friends Carrie Bradshaw (Parker), Miranda Hobbs (Cynthia Nixon), Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) and Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) living in New York City, earned 54 Emmy nominations (winning seven) and 24 Golden Globe nods (winning eight).
The show also led to two box-office hit movies. 2008’s Sex and the City grossed over $415 million worldwide. Despite being slammed by critics, 2010’s Sex and the City 2 brought in $294 million worldwide. While a script was created for a third movie, Cattrall decided she did not want to be part of it, and the movie was ultimately scrapped.
Over the years, the Filthy Rich star has been vocal about being done with the franchise, even calling out Parker for being “cruel” in 2018. However, following the revival announcement, the Hocus Pocus actress weighed in on doing the new show without her, adding they she will miss her on set.
When a fan wrote, “She didn’t tag Samantha Jones,” and another replied, “They dislike each other,” on Parker’s Instagram, she quickly responded. “No. I don’t dislike her. I’ve never said that. Never would. Samantha isn’t part of this story, but she will always be a part of us,” she wrote via Instagram. “No matter where we are or what we do. X.”
In 2019, Cattrall said she would “never” work on the franchise again during an interview with the Daily Mail. “You learn lessons in life and my lesson is to do work with good people and try and make it fun,” the Tell Me a Story alum said at the time.
As for the new show, the SJP Collection designer voiced how excited she is about the new show and being back with the women.
“[We’re] shooting it in a city that we love and hoping to be part of a city that’s able to support artists and culture and institutions that have been closed down and the businesses that have been hurt [during COVID-19],” she told TMZ in January 2021.
Scroll through the gallery below for everything we know about the revival so far.
And Just Like That will follow Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda once again through their lives in New York City, this time navigating what love and friendships are like in their 50s.
And Just Like That will be available on HBO Max.
The writers’ room opened in January 2021, Parker confirmed, and filming is slated to begin in the spring.
In addition to the three women, Jennifer Hudson — who appeared as Carrie’s assistant in the first film — shared in January 2021 that she would love to appear in the revival.
“It’s not as black and white as that,” the two-time Emmy winner told TMZ in January 2021, sharing when asked whether they will replace the fourth character in Cattrall’s absence. “We’re not looking to bring in a fourth character. We have New York City as a fourth character. There will be lots of interesting, new characters that we’re excited about.”
Parker said during an interview with Vanity Fair at the end of January that the COVID-19 pandemic “will obviously be part of the storyline because that’s the city [these characters] live in. And how has that changed relationships once friends disappear? I have great faith that the writers are going to examine it all.”
Jason Lewis, who played Samantha Jones’ beloved boyfriend (and later ex) Smith Jerrod on the show, revealed he won’t be returning for the revival — just like his former onscreen flame.
“I have not [been asked back], but I would be the last to know!” the actor told Fashion Week Daily in April 2021. “As much as I appreciate the flattery, the conversation is about the girls.”
As for whether his character would still be with the PR expert today, Lewis said it’s unlikely.
“I think that they moved away from each other,” the model added. “But I think they’d still like each other!”
In April 2021, John Corbett told Page Six that he “might be in quite a few” episodes of the upcoming HBO Max project, sending Team Aidan fans into a frenzy. Parker played coy about her former costar’s comments, hinting via Instagram at the time, “I’m not saying one way or another whether our beloved Mr. Corbett’s interview deals in facts or fiction. But the response is amazing to read… x.”
Chris Noth took to Instagram in February 2021 to react to a fan’s question about whether he would return for And Just Like That. “Everything changes — including announcements in the rags,” the Good Wife alum replied following a New York Post story that claimed he wouldn’t be returning. In May 2021, HBO Max revealed he will be reprising the role.
While The Equalizer actor confirmed his official return to the role, he revealed to Yahoo Finance Live in June 2021 that he was “hesitant” to play Mr. Big again. “I didn’t really feel I had anything to offer in that role again. It kind of felt like I had done it,” he said.
Sara Ramírez is a new series regular, starring as Che Diaz, a non-binary, queer, stand-up comedian who hosts a podcast that Carrie frequently joins. “Che is a big presence with a big heart whose outrageous sense of humor and progressive, human overview of gender roles has made them and their podcast very popular,” HBO Max said in a press release in May 2021.
David Eigenberg and Evan Handler, who played will Miranda’s husband, Steve Brady, and Charlotte’s husband, Harry Goldenblatt, respectively, will both appear, HBO Max confirmed in June 2021. Additionally, Mario Cantone will reprise the role of Anthony Marentino and Willie Garson will be back as Stanford Blatch.
Parker visited Carrie’s apartment in June 2021, one day before the cast reunited for their first table read of the new series. “Pure coincidence AND JUST LIKE THAT, we find ourselves on this street called Perry the night before it all begins again,” she captioned a series of photos from outside the iconic pad. “MPK, here we go. And I’m thrilled and terrified. X, SJ.”
Parker reunited with Nixon and Davis in June 2021 for the first table read in New York City. “Together again. ,” she captioned the sweet snap. “Read through our first episodes. @justlikethatmax Alongside all the fellas and our newest cast members. Like an ice cream sundae. X, SJ.”
We have a name! Parker revealed in a July 2021 Instagram post that the first episode of And Just Like That will be called “Hello It’s Me.”
Alongside the cover of her script, she laid out some of her filming necessities, including snacks, books, a speaker and a cooling face globe.
“In preparation for 1st day of shooting @justlikethatmax somewhere on the island of Manhattan. Tomorrow. Always bringing enough to share. Not pictured, deodorant,” she wrote.
In July 2021, Parker shared a selfie that showed her getting ready for the first day of filming with help from hairstylist Serge Normant and makeup artist Elaine Offers. “7:15 am EST NYC,” she captioned the Instagram photo. “Here she comes. X, SJ.”
HBO Max released the first official image from the new series in July 2021. In the snap, Nixon, Parker and Davis walk down a New York City street in costume as Miranda, Carrie and Charlotte, respectively. Compared to past SATC looks, their outfits in the photo are somewhat subdued, but Carrie’s commitment to outrageous footwear remains intact with a pair of black patent leather platforms.

To be clear: I will watch this reboot, because Sex and the City is a good show, and after rewatching the third season of this show, I sort of understand how it would be hard to recreate Samantha’s verve in 2021. She was often the wisest character, but also, very often, the most offensive. The trans sex worker B-plot at the end of that season, which finds Samantha waging war with some of the residents of her new hip neighborhood, and then ends with all of those people having a nice party (?) on her roof, would absolutely not fly now, and probably shouldn’t have then. Though my earlier predictions for how the writers of this reboot might handle Samantha’s disappearance are probably not what they’re going to do, my current imagining is that she is a victim of “cancel culture,” and is unable to reconcile her old self with the current times. Thus, she is gone, and that leaves us with these gals, all of whom are hanging in there, as best they can!
Some lingering questions, comments, thoughts, and concerns about this photo remain:

'Sex and the City' reboot first look: Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis are back

The highly anticipated 10-episode series, And Just Like That…, is the latest chapter in the iconic HBO series. The new show "follows Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) as they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s." Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones in the original series, will not be appearing in the reboot.
In the newly released photo, we see Nixon, Parker and Davis strutting down the streets of New York City looking glamorous, confident and, of course, super fashionable.
On Friday, Parker shared a pic of herself in the hair and makeup trailer as she's obscured by hair products while a glam squad works its magic.
The show's official Instagram page also shared in the fun, posting a glimpse inside the hair, makeup and costume rooms, which were stacked with product, brushes and head-turning outfits of all colors, textures and prints.
Sara Ramírez has signed on to play a queer podcaster named Che Diaz while Chris Noth will return as Carrie's husband, "Mr. Big," and John Corbett, Willie Garson, Mario Cantone, David Eigenberg and Evan Handler are set to reprise their roles as Aiden, Stanford, Anthony, Steve and Harry, respectively.
In January, Jennifer Hudson also spoke about the possibility of reprising her role as Carrie's assistant, Louise, whom she played in the first Sex and the City film.
"I hope so, that would be cool. I am down, I am down!" Hudson told Entertainment Tonight at the time.
Sex and the City ran for six seasons on HBO from 1998 to 2004. It was followed by two movies: 2008s Sex and the City and 2010's Sex and the City 2, as well as a short-lived 2013 CW spinoff prequel series, The Carrie Diaries, which followed Carrie during her junior year of high school as she explored life in New York City.
There is no date yet set for the series premiere.

Today is a big day for Sex and the City fans. We finally got a real look at the HBO Max reboot, And Just Like That… Though, SJP has been giving us tiny tidbits for weeks. Sarah Jessica Parker even gave us a look inside her bag, revealing a skincare tool that’s actually pretty affordable. “Items. Must haves. Trailer/dressing room/tote bag haul. In preparation for 1st day of shooting,” she wrote on Instagram.
You can see a Beats by Dre speaker, three different books (“enough to keep me company through episodes 101-103,” she wrote), granola, Long Chips snacks and a Sundree Cooling Facial Globe. The brand commented on SJP’s Instagram post, excited to see their product in her bag. SJP responded by saying she’s bringing it to Elaine Offers Woulard, who is doing her makeup. “So good before makeup on those early mornings!” responded the makeup artist.
The Sundree Cooling Facial Globe works by helping decrease inflammation, soothe any redness, minimize puffiness and stimulate blood circulation. The hand-blown ice globes are made of borosilicate glass and filled with biodegradable gel. You can stick them in the fridge for an extra-cool shot to calm the skin pre-makeup. It’s especially nice to use with your favorite moisturizer or serum.
We can’t wait to see what else SJP shares with us throughout the entire filming of And Just Like That… One thing is for sure, they’re all going to have great skin, as well as fresh beauty looks for us to talk about for years to come.

Sex and the City's sequel/revival series And Just Like That... has its first official image.
Sarah Jessica Parker previously marked the beginning of production with a photo of herself, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon, but now we've got an official promotional image of the trio looking stylish and strutting down the streets of New York City.
The actress shared the picture to her Instagram page, captioning it with the show's title. Willie Garson, who is returning as Stanford Blatch, commented: "And away we go."
HBO Max chief content officer Casey Bloys previously suggested Parker and King "didn't want to tell a story with all-white writers or an all-white cast" because "it's not reflective of New York.
"They are being very, very conscious about understanding that New York has to reflect the way New York looks today."
Sex And The City Is Back Filming On The Streets Of New York, But It's So Empty Without Kim Cattrall's Samantha
10 July, 2021 - 08:11am
Are you a Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte or Samantha? It’s a question that superseded astrology or Hogwarts House quizzes for some time when Sex and the City was on the air. Most of the famed characters at the center of the New York City-set series will soon be returning with an HBO Max revival. We have a first look at the show and the Samanthas of the world are already thinking of a fabulous, quick-witted line in protest.
HBO Max has shared a first look at the upcoming Sex and the City series titled And Just Like That… to announce production on the 10-episode series is underway. Check out present day Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte:
The excitement of Sex and the City coming back feels a bit overshadowed by the gaping hole left in our hearts knowing that the most outspoken and wonderfully chaotic member of the friend group will not be around to continue the story. As we've known for some time, Kim Cattrall is in fact sitting out the revival but with this picture it's really setting in that this sadly means we won’t be seeing what Samantha Jones is up to in her 50s.
Kim Cattrall has not spoken specifically to her absence in the upcoming Sex and the City series, but it’s long been rumored that she and Sarah Jessica Parker are not on good terms based on a number of public back and forths that happened between them. And back in 2019, Cattrall said the following about her thoughts about returning to the role:
I went past the finish line playing Samantha Jones because I loved Sex and the City. It was a blessing in so many ways but after the second movie I’d had enough. I couldn’t understand why they wouldn’t just replace me with another actress instead of wasting time bullying. No means no.
Kim Cattrall has been over the role for a while, including with the actress turning down a role in the third Sex and the City movie which was later cancelled. Multiple times the actress has claimed that she and the other core cast were “never friends.” Sarah Jessica Parker responded to her claims by sharing she was “heartbroken” by her former co-star's comments.
We’d imagine And Just Like That… will need to address Samantha Jones’ absence somehow. The HBO Max series will follow Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda as they navigate their lives and friendship in their ‘50s and perhaps the women will have had their own falling out with Samantha years after we last caught up with them.
Carrie Bradshaw has not graced the streets of New York with her gals since 2010’s Sex and the City 2, which followed them venturing to Abu Dhabi with Samantha, who had an ex shooting a movie there. While it’s certainly odd to see the cast back without Kim Cattrall, it’s exciting to see Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda back and on set of the upcoming HBO Max revival on top of the network recently revisiting Gossip Girl.

Their historic female-centric show always made sure to put women front and center, in the best of lights.
And now Sarah Jessica Parker and Cynthia Nixon are embracing their natural beauty as they begin shooting And Just Like That… the reboot of HBO classic Sex And The City.
The star actresses, who were seen Friday on the streets of New York City filming on the first day of production, both rocked silvery grey tresses as part of their fashionable ensembles.

Nixon, 55, sported a chic grey pixie cut in her update of her iconic once-redheaded character, high-powered lawyer Miranda Hobbs.
And lead actress Parker, 56, wore her hair in highlighted ombre sections that allowed for strands of her gray roots to show through the blonde and brown.
SJP, who plays central character Carrie Bradshaw, also posted a selfie from the And Just Like That… hair and makeup trailer on the morning of filming, which put a particular spotlight on her roots.

Running from 1998 to 2004, Sex And The City was an immensely popular series focusing on the love and sex lives of four 30-something New York City women.
The show went on to spawn two big-budget feature films and has been in syndication on various platforms for the last 15 years.

The new series promises to provide an update on three of the characters from that posse, now that they are in their mid-50s and navigating their relationships, families and careers.
Absent from the proceedings, sadly, is Kim Cattrall, the actress who played promiscuous PR agent Samantha Jones.
Cattrall, 64, made it clear that she had no intention of coming back to any new iteration of the franchise, after a highly publicized and long-standing feud between herself and Sarah Jessica.

Nonetheless, And Just Like That… promises to delight fans everywhere who are craving more time with this particular group of girlfriends.
And it is a welcome development to see that the show will not try to hide the fact that these women have aged, and will in fact show off how they remain vibrant, beautiful and sexy.
