Our #PlanForJobs is working. Unemployment is falling. Wages are growing. We will continue to support people to access the skills and opportunities they need, so businesses can fill vacancies in growing industries and help the UK #BuildBackBetter.
The UK is relying on its fossil fuel fleet of power stations this evening to keep the lights on, with coal-fired plants, and even gas peakers (open cycle) called upon to generate. Wind is struggling. Gas plus coal doing nearly 57% of total generation (and yes, this is a snapshot)
Was a pleasure to speak to Prime Minister @BorisJohnson. We reviewed progress on the India-UK Agenda 2030, exchanged views on climate action in the context of the forthcoming COP-26 in Glasgow, and shared our assessments on regional issues including Afghanistan.
Will @BorisJohnson retaliate at @Jeremy_Hunt for this highly critical report on govt pandemic management? He was our longest serving health secretary who left us so poorly prepared & staffed for a pandemic. Austerity & 2012 reforms were frankly dangerous. committees.parliament.uk/publications/7496/documents/78687/default/ pic.twitter.com/gVXwrWuEjq
