A popular podcaster was killed after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Los Angeles, loved ones and officials said.

Mat George, 26, who co-hosted the podcast “She Rates Dogs,” was fatally mowed down around 2:20 a.m. Saturday morning as he crossed Croft Avenue in the Beverly Grove neighborhood of Los Angeles, CBS Los Angeles reported.

“Mat was killed in a hit and run last night. I don’t really have any other words right now,” his podcast co-host, Michaela Okland, wrote on Twitter.

“I wish I could contact everybody who knows him personally but the news is already out and I just can’t do it right now.”

Police said the driver of a white BMW failed to stop for George before continuing eastbound on Beverly Boulevard.

I would rather you guys here this from me than a news article. Mat was killed in a hit and run last night. I don’t really have any other words right now. I wish I could contact everybody who knows him personally but the news is already out and I just can’t do it right now

George, a graduate of Arizona State University, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Fans flooded social media over the weekend with condolences and tributes.

“I didn’t know him in anyway what so ever, but he’s goofy tweets brought a smile to my face on plenty of long days. I’m so sad he’s gone, and I’m so sorry for the loss those who actually knew him are going through,” one fan tweeted.

Another added, “SheRatesDogs pod has gotten me through some very rough nights when I felt alone. My heart breaks for Michaela and everyone Mat brought light to. Rest in peace, Mat George.”
