T-Mobile is giving customers a free year of Apple TV+

If you're already paying for Apple TV+, you can still take advantage of this deal. It'll just add a free year of access and pause billing until the trial is up. If you haven't used Apple TV+ yet, it is naturally available on basically all current Apple hardware, but it's also available on a pretty large number of third-party set-top boxes, gaming consoles and TVs, as well.

This move comes as Apple itself has cut back on the length of its Apple TV+ free trials. Ever since the service launched, Apple offered a year free to basically anyone who bought new hardware from the company, and it extended that free period multiple times. But lately, people have noticed that Apple is finally charging them for the service, and the free trial period has been cut down to three months. That's still quite generous, but all these changes indicate Apple is keen to start collecting money for Apple TV+. Unless, of course, you're a T-Mobile subscriber, in which case it's a perfect time to start your Ted Lasso binge.

T-Mobile Customers: How to Redeem Your Free Year of Apple TV+

Android Central 23 August, 2021 - 11:47am

T-Mobile announced this morning that it’s providing a free year of Apple TV+ to select new and existing customers starting August 25. Typically, we don’t cover too much having to do with Apple, but there are some fine shows on the platform, and since it’s free, you won’t hear us complain.

The promotion is open to Magenta and Magenta MAX customers, as well as other select customers that we’ve detailed below. The promo is good for 12 months, which is a value of about $72.

Again, the redemption period begins August 25.

The promotion is open to all new and existing customers on Magenta or Magenta MAX — Magenta 55+, Magenta Military, and Magenta First Responders, as well as Sprint Unlimited Plus, Sprint Premium, and small T-Mobile for Business customers.

Below are the specific instructions for redemption.

T-Mobile is giving customers a free year of Apple TV Plus

The Verge 23 August, 2021 - 09:46am

For both new and existing customers on Magenta and Magenta Max plans

The deal applies to virtually any of T-Mobile’s post-paid customers that it classifies as part of those plans, including its Magenta 55 Plus, Magenta Military, Magenta First Responders, Sprint Unlimited Plus, Sprint Premium, and T-Mobile for Business plans. Better yet, the deal isn’t just for newcomers to T-Mobile; it seems that anyone subscribing to those plans can get the free year of Apple TV Plus.

Customers under T-Mobile’s Magenta, Magenta Max, and T-Mobile for Business can find the offer listed under their rate plan details on T-Mobile’s website or app to get the free year, while customers who are still under Sprint’s umbrella will have to go to T-Mobile’s promotional site and apply the code 2021APPLETVP1 to get the offer. (Regular T-Mobile customers can do that, too, should they prefer.)

T-Mobile also notes that the free 12 months on offer here will seemingly apply even if you’ve had a subscription or trial to Apple TV Plus before, meaning that customers can stack the deal with other free trials, like the three months of service that come with the purchase of a new Apple device.

The freebie also comes as T-Mobile is reckoning with its recent massive data breach, which exposed data for millions of its customers, including first and last names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license / ID numbers, phone numbers, and IMEI / IMSI information for 7.8 million postpaid customers. Additionally, T-Mobile says that data on over 40 million “former or prospective customers” was compromised in the breach.

And while it’s certainly a nice bonus for customers, it’s likely that a few months of Foundation or Ted Lasso will not make up for having to deal with the ramifications of having that much personal data leaked.

T-Mobile launches free one year of Apple TV+ offer for Magenta phone plan customers

9to5Mac 23 August, 2021 - 08:26am

- Aug. 23rd 2021 6:26 am PT

The US carrier T-Mobile is launching a new offer this week in partnership with Apple. Magenta and Magenta MAX phone plan customers can get a free year of Apple TV+, Apple’s streaming service for its exclusive collection of original TV shows and movies.

The offer is available to new and existing T-Mobile customers, one redemption per account. It will be available later this week; see full terms on the T-Mobile website.

It also stacks with any TV+ trial you may have got from Apple by purchasing a device recently. If you are currently paying for TV+, you can still redeem the offer — it will simply pause your payments.

To redeem the offer, if you are eligible, you can log in to the T-Mobile app and navigate to the Rate Plan Details section. You can then follow the prompts to get ‘your one year of Apple TV+ on us’.

After the year is up, the subscription will automatically renew at the standard $4.99 per month rate. You can of course cancel at any time through the standard subscription details screen in iOS Settings.
