The PS5 Is Finally Restocked: Here’s Where and How to Buy One Before It Sells Out

When will the Xbox series X be available?

When is Xbox Series X release date? Xbox Series X is launching at participating retailers worldwide on November 10, 2020. xbox.comXbox Series X console

Best Buy released new PS5 stock today and depending on which PlayStation fan you ask, it was either the greatest PS5 restock to date or a PS5 restock from the depths of Hell. At the moment of writing this, the restock is depleted, but its possible additional waves will be released. That said, right now, it seems the window of opportunity is gone.

In case you missed it, around lunchtime, Best Buy surprised the Internet with a brand new PS5 restock, featuring both the $500 standard version of the console and the $400 all-digital PS5 without a disc-drive. It didn't announce anything ahead of time. Rather, it dropped the new stock out of left field, which is how most retailers have been handling restocks in 2021.

At the moment of publishing, there's no word of when Best Buy's next restock will happen, and right now there's no word of any restock from any retailer coming later today, or for a matter of fact, even later this week. However, there are rumors that GameStop is going to drop new stock tomorrow, though the sources on this aren't the best.

Like every PS5 restock, there's been plenty of winners, but way more losers. And the best place to see this divide is on Twitter.

Wario this is the best case of PS5 stock i have ever seen. Every bestbuy in my area has it for pickup on July 18 sunday - July 22. And it is 23 minutes after your listing still.

Thank you @Jake_Randall_YT I was able to finally secured a ps5 physical towards the end of my lunch break from the Best Buy Drop! #woot thanks brother! pic.twitter.com/S9dUxcdbl6

of course Best Buy restocks the PS5 while I’m on an airplane 🥲

ANYWAYS IM IN WASHINGTON NOW 🌲🌲🌲 pic.twitter.com/XpC7kDMRUN

Best buy: Was right there face to face with add to cart ps5 but did not get it added to the cart hit that add bottom many times but it was sold out really fast. 😡

Me after getting a notification that PS5's were in stock, and then waited in line on Best Buy's website to get a guaranteed spot and PS5, only to have it not allow me to check out after adding it to my cart because its sold out pic.twitter.com/DlaRzcL5Dz

I'm thiiiiis 🤏🏽 close to just building a best buy scraper to send me a text when ps5's are restocked 😤

Had a PS5 in the checkout and then the Best Buy app bugged. Lost it.

Well the #PS5 and #xbox best buy drop happened and I feel like it upset everyone LOL. I saw like 2 confirms, lots of bugs, lots of insta sold outs and pain...

Lemme know in the comments if you scored or L'd

Amazon's PS5 restock is exclusive to Prime members: bad for bots, great for... Amazon?

Gamesradar 15 July, 2021 - 02:28pm

Would you buy Prime membership to have a fair chance at a PS5 restock?

When Amazon does get PS5 units in, they're usually all gone in a few minutes and today was no different over at Amazon UK this morning in that respect. But what was different was a bullet point in the product description before the restock even came online (Amazon never gives an advanced warning), saying: "Amazon Prime customers will have priority access to the PlayStation 5 until July 14th, 2021."

While this development in the PS5 stock saga was only in the UK, we wouldn't be surprised to see Amazon roll it out in the US too. Keep your eye on Amazon and the other stores below as you might get lucky with a sudden PS5 resupply.

Of course, the Prime members-only PS5 stock has all sold out now, never mind the bit about the 14th, but this is the first time Amazon has blocked off PS5 stock for non-Prime members. It's kind of surprising it hasn't tried this before really.

A more cynical response could be that the company is looking for a way to boost its Prime member signups in what will undoubtedly be a quieter summer than last year now that many folks have shifted to spending money on holidays, bars, and restaurants.

More to the point, since the PS5 was released last year, it wouldn't be unfair to say that Amazon has been one of the stores with the least amount of PS5 or Xbox Series X stock. Other outlets like Walmart, Best Buy, and Target in the US and Currys, Argos, and Game in the UK have all had far more frequent PS5 restocks, not to mention a host of smaller online outlets too. Amazon has been a continuous disappointment by comparison, with a complete no-show even in the Prime Day PS5 deals section of the big sales event last month.

We're all for the store getting its act together though. And given how sick gamers are of getting sniped by bots at the 'add to basket' button at all retailers, we think this could actually be a good thing overall, especially if you're already a Prime member. If you're not, you can sign up for a 30-day free trial below. Although you might end up waiting a bit longer than that and still have to pay for a month or two, so opt for the monthly payments after the trial rather than a year-long version (unless you end up liking the service, of course).

If you didn't already know, Prime membership gets you free super fast delivery on loads of items, free Kindle books, and best of all, access to the Prime Video library, which is one of the best streaming services around - you should check out hot exclusives like The Boys, Hanna, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maizel. Actually, we have a few guides that will come in handy if you're looking to bulk up your watchlist straight away like the best shows on Prime Video and the best movies on Prime Video.

We're expecting stock of the PS5 to be hard to find until next year in all honesty, so this might be worth a shot, especially given there are already some absolute bangers on our best PS5 games list and the upcoming PS5 games look pretty tasty too.

Heck, given the global shortage of semiconductors that's causing havoc in the manufacturing of consoles, graphics cards, electric cars, and more we expect Nintendo Switch OLED pre-orders to have similar issues when it launches in October. Maybe our Ben is right and we should all opt for something on the best board games list instead after all.

Xbox Series X Restock Update for Amazon, Walmart, Target, Costco, GameStop and More

Newsweek 15 July, 2021 - 02:28pm

Below is a breakdown of the latest information on Xbox Series X restocks.

An Xbox Series X restock at Walmart is an increasingly likely prospect this week.

As of tomorrow (Thursday, July 15), it will have been over a fortnight since the merchant was last selling the next-generation hardware, so it is overdue. Moreover, console tracker Matt Swider has forecast a Walmart drop for tomorrow and his sources are usually quite reliable.

If the restock does occur on Thursday, it will be at around 3 p.m. as that is always when Walmart releases its new supplies.

In the meantime, you can technically add an Xbox Series X to your Walmart basket right now, but it will be for an inflated cost. This is because those particular units are being traded by independent resellers (and not the outlet itself) who can charge however much they want.

For example, there is currently an Xbox Series X on the website that is listed for $781. For comparison, the recommended manufacturer's price is $499, so you might as well just wait for the expected restock tomorrow to get a fairer deal.

The cheaper Xbox Series S was available from Microsoft's own official storefront yesterday at the standard price of $299. This is unfortunately sold out now.

The good news is that there is actually a way you can increase your chances of getting an Xbox Series X from Microsoft. If you already own an Xbox One, then you just need to register for the "Xbox Insiders" program.

This is essentially a pilot group that trials new features for Xbox (like updated accessibility settings, changes to the quick resume function, and early-access builds of certain titles) before they are released to the wider public.

One of the features that is currently being tested through the group is a "Console Purchase Pilot", which will allow Xbox One users to order an Xbox Series X through their older machine. It is worth noting that you are not guaranteed a spot on this pilot simply by registering, but it is worth a try.

To register for the Xbox Insiders programme, you just need to download the relevant app from the Xbox Store and accept the terms and conditions. If you then navigate to the preview tab, you will find the "Console Purchase Pilot".

For timely updates on Best Buy's Xbox stock, follow the likes of @Wario64 and @GYXdeals on Twitter.

Your chances of getting an Xbox Series X from Target will vary greatly depending on where you live. This is because the retailer has changed its distribution model so that it is no longer coordinating nationwide drops like everywhere else. From now on, individual stores will be releasing their stock as and when it becomes available.

You can search by location on Target's website to see if there any Xbox Series X units near you. If you do manage to find one then it will not be sent out for delivery, and you will have to travel to the store in question to collect it.

Given that these restocks are now happening on a store-by-store basis, it is hard to say with any certainty when the console will next be available. To be in with a decent chance of getting an Xbox Series X from Target, you will just have to make a habit of routinely checking the website to see if any nearby stores are offering it.

While the Xbox Series X is currently unavailable from Antonline, you can place an order for the less-powerful Series S model.

This cheaper alternative is bundled with an extra wireless controller for a total cost of $359.98.

You can also order the all-digital Xbox Series S from Costco, where it is currently being offered as a member-exclusive item. This means that you will need to already be paying for a yearly subscription if you want to add the console to your basket.

Meanwhile, the Xbox Series X is not available on the Costco website in any capacity.

Whenever popular electronics (like the PS5 or gaming PC components) are available at Newegg you will need to enter a random lottery to have a shot at purchasing them.

These are known as "Shuffle Draws" and there are currently none that include the Xbox Series X. To be alerted as soon as one of these lotteries does open, follow @Wario64 and @GYXdeals on Twitter.

GameStop is actually overdue for an Xbox Series X restock, as it has been nearly a month since their last one.

As such, console trackers like Matt Swider are suggesting that GameStop could be releasing new units in the near future, although there is no precise ETA as of yet.

At the time of writing, you are unable to purchase either the Xbox Series X or the Xbox Series S from the Amazon marketplace. There is currently no word on when this situation might change.

Xbox Series X restocks update: The retailers we are keeping a close eye on right now

Gamesradar 15 July, 2021 - 02:28pm

Even though it's been very quiet recently, that's no reason to give up hope on finding an Xbox Series X restock in stores

Wherever you're based in the world, one of your best bets for finding Xbox Series X stock is to keep a close eye on Amazon. The retail juggernaut has had snatches of stock appear, despite them disappearing just as quickly as they surface.

With stock from certain retailers in the US such as Best Buy and Target rumored to be on the horizon, we'll be updating this page frequently with updates letting you know when Xbox Series X stock becomes available, so you can spend less time searching and more time scrolling through Xbox Game Pass for the perfect title.

Of course, the reasons for the shortages are understandable: the global pandemic has seriously compromised the manufacturing of semiconductors and other essential components. However, that doesn't mean it's any less frustrating for people, especially when considering that the Xbox Series X has been 'available' since November 2020 - over 8 months ago!

On that note, especially in our recent experience, it's worth going after an Xbox Series X bundle from a trusted retailer, as these package deals will often be less competitively fought over than the console on its own. Certain stores will couple it up with items such as new games as well as inclusions like the best Xbox Series X headset or the best Xbox Series X accessories

This PS5 India Restock Twitter Bot Gets You Game Discounts Too

IGN India 15 July, 2021 - 02:28pm

Kumar is no stranger to this site, he previously ran a Change.org petition to bring to Sony’s attention that there is an audience for the PS5 in India and launched his bot soon after.

''I started this when I first noticed how huge the demand is and how bad Sony is handling it,” Kumar told us at the time. ''And there are many scalpers who take PS5s from genuine gamers, I wanted to give everyone a fair chance.''

The bot, imaginatively called PS5_India has now expanded to include game discounts. A welcome addition what with most PS5 first-party exclusives costing Rs. 5,000.

''Having game deals is a natural progression from just providing stock notifications,’' he says, claiming that the response from the community has been positive.

''Very few would ask me to stop these game deals and just stick to stock notifications,’' he says. ''Some have asked me to have a separate Twitter account for game deals.’'

Rather than ignore the feedback, Kumar goes out of his way to explain to the community that it’s more than just providing information on getting consoles.

''Some say just stick to PS5, some say don't do game deals, some say just stick to Xbox,’' he says. ''But eventually understand. I reach out to them, and I explain that there are many people who value what you might not and they come around.''

Kumar who is an Information Security Engineer by trade tells us he spends around two hours a day to find game deals and manage the bot. We wonder if changes made on sites like Amazon impact how his bot functions as we’ve seen with others in the past.

''Sites does not make changes as often as we think they would,'' he says. ''I have made changes to my script only once to accommodate the new things and changes the site has made. This is in addition to the changes I made to keep my bot as fast as possible.’'

In addition to this, we have noticed that Kumar’s bot is more accurate than others. He believes this is down to how he selects sellers.

''I check for more parameters than just availability before I tweet about the stock,’’ he says. ''My bot only notifies if the seller is verified and has some experience in selling these gaming consoles. Example: my bot will not notify if a seller like say, ’Defy Games’ sells Xbox Series S for 40K.''

The approach makes sense when you consider online marketplaces have the tendency to be littered with listings for overpriced consoles soon after a restock is delivered.

If you were interested in building your own, Kumar’s advice is rather straight forward.

''Learn Python and web scraping,'' he says succinctly.

Kumar was kind enough to elaborate on what the most popular items purchased through his bot are. While the details are far from revelatory, they are a realistic representation of how Indian consumers buy online.

“Most popular items purchased through my bot are in this order: PS5, PS5 Digital Edition, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and finally, PS5 games,’’ he says. It will be interesting to see if the order of purchases stays the same.

As Sony is taking concrete steps to ensure regular availability, safe to say PS5 game sales would increase too, possibly overtaking everything else on the list. With that in mind Kumar has set up a Discord server to build a community around his bot.

It is in sharp contrast to other grassroots initiatives that were put together to connect PlayStation fans to swap information in hopes of buying the console as he’s already made it easier to buy the PS5.

‘’What I’m doing with Twitter and Discord is just my way of helping the Indian gaming community,” he says.

GameStop PS5 restock sold out — where to check for inventory next

Tom's Guide 15 July, 2021 - 11:36am

GameStop PS5 restock is now sold out

This drop was initially tipped by TechRadar's Matt Swider. He received emails from his sources at GameStop that suggested the retailer was gearing up to take fresh orders of Sony’s in-demand machine, which is now confirmed. This is GameStop’s first restock since July 1.

It was announced last month that GameStop would be giving Pro Reward Card members early access to restocks. Pro members have also been given early access to today's PS5 restock. We’ve seen the early access period in effect three times now, and it works reasonably well.

This Pro member-only drop could be followed up by a general sale where anyone can attempt to purchase a PS5. Though this may not happen, previous drops have sold out during the Pro member early access window. We recommend paying the $15 for an annual Pro membership — after all, that’s a small price if it allows you to finally get your hands on a PS5.

It’s also worth noting that every single GameStop PS5 restock has involved the console being bundled with additional items, and that is again the case with today's drop. If you just want the console standalone, you might want to wait for the Sony Direct restock scheduled for tomorrow (July 16).

In early June, GameStop announced that it's changing the way it handles console restocks. It will give first dibs to its PowerUp Rewards Pro members. Although there's a free tier, only Pro members will get early access to the restocks. Membership starts at $14.99 per year and includes perks like a Game Informer subscription, $5 reward coupons per month (total of $60/year), 10% extra trade credit on games/accessories, and a $5 welcome certificate. If you sign up today, you'll have access to the restock.

It may be obvious, but you'll want to have a GameStop account and be logged into your account when the restock begins. If you click the "add to cart" button and nothing happens, try refreshing the page. Alternatively, you could clear your browser cookies and try to open the page via an incognito web browser. You might be asked to solve a captcha before adding the console to your cart. We don't yet know if this restock will be opened up to the general public after the early access window.

As with the previous GameStop PS5 restock events, these units will sell out fast. So if you missed out don't worry. There will be other restock events in the future. Also, make sure to follow our restock coverage for up-to-the-minute news on the latest restocks. In the meantime, you can browse other retailer pages to see if they may have quietly added any new inventory.

Sony PS5 restock – Sony Direct is coming, don’t miss this chance to buy

T3 15 July, 2021 - 10:34am

PlayStation 5 models have now sold out again at GameStop but, according to our sister site, Tom's Guide, Sony Direct will have an invite-only PS5 restock this Friday, July 16.

PS5 stock is still in really short supply, so when it becomes available it only tends to last a matter of hours, if not minutes. So, if you're reading this now, you have probably missed this round. More stock is appearing weekly right now though, so be patient and your time will come – just be prepared to move fast when it does.

For up to the minute, real-time PS5 restock info follow TechRadar’s Matt Swider on Twitter. Keep an eye on our PS5 stock tracker for other opportunities to buy.

As T3's Managing Editor in the US, Mat is a true lover of gadgets, but especially anything that involves cameras, cars, music or travel.
