The Apple Watch is maintaining its dominance of the smartwatch industry as the market for more basic wrist-worn devices like fitness trackers continues to decline.

Globally, the wearables market grew 5.6% year-over-year in the second quarter of 2021, reaching 40.9 million units total, according to Canalys. That market includes smartwatches like the Apple Watch and less advanced bands like the Fitbit or Xiaomi Mi Band 6.

Bolstered by the launch of the Mi Smart Band 6, Xiaomi actually overtook Apple as the top-shipping wrist-worn wearable vendor in the second quarter. Xiaomi had 19.6% of the market and 8 million shipments, compared to Apple's 19.3% and 7.9 million shipments.

However, Apple still appears to be growing faster than Xiaomi, with 29.4% year-over-year growth compared to the Chinese company's 2.6%.

In the smartwatch category, which excludes more basic wearables, Apple is still the top player — and it isn't even close. Apple's had 31.1% of the smartwatch market in the second quarter. In second place was Huawei with 9%, while Garmin took third place with 7.6%.

Canalys also notes that the smartwatch market is beginning to eclipse the general wearable market. Shipments of basic wearables and fitness trackers started their decline in the fourth quarter of 2020. By Q2 2021, shipments plunged 23.8% to 15.5 million units.

On the flip side, smartwatches are starting to take some of that territory. Shipments of both basic watches and smartwatches reached 25.4 million in the second quarter of 2021, up 37.9% year-over-year. Smartwatches also now account for 62% of the global wrist wearable market.

This makes sense. Just like the smartphone has evolved from just a phone into much more, it's not surprising to see the same evolution with wrist-worn devices. This will be like the decline of "feature phones".

Wow, Xiaomi ships more wearables, how many were sold??

Walking Dead Star Says Things Between Negan and Maggie Will Get 'F-king Crazier'

CBR - Comic Book Resources 02 September, 2021 - 12:11pm

Season 11, Episode 2 of The Walking Dead proved what many fans hoped would be true: despite the horrors she endured, Maggie is very much alive and very pissed off at Negan.

When TWD's Jeffrey Dean Morgan was asked about how this revelation will affect Maggie and Negan's relationship, he teased to TVLine, "It's about to get a lot f–king crazier for these two!"

"Acheron: Part 2" revealed that Negan left Maggie to die amidst a hoard of walkers. In reply, Maggie pistol-whips him across the face. Despite Negan's claims that deciding not to help someone is not the same thing as leaving someone to die, it's very clear that the duo has a lot to work out in Season 11.

Morgan alluded to this difficult journey of theirs ahead and shared a part of it too. "There are going to be moments where they’ll have revelations about one another and maybe understand a little more about each other," he said. "They both know what it takes to survive and that bad things have to be done. But it won’t take away what she feels about Glenn's death. When it comes down to it, I killed her husband in front of her in a very brutal fashion. Will she forget that? Will she forgive that? No. I've never believed that. But in this apocalyptic world where you have to rely on those around you to survive, they may need one another."

On Aug. 25, "Hunted" aired, which followed what happened when Maggie's team is hunted by the Reapers. AMC previously revealed the next five episode titles for The Walking Dead's apocalyptic Season 11, which are: "Rendition," "Out of the Ashes," "On the Inside," "Promises Broken," and "For Blood." Season 11 will be the comic-book-inspired series' final season and specifically pull content from The Walking Dead #175-193, which were written by Robert Kirkman and art by Charlie Adlard. The final TWD season focuses on a community called the Commonwealth and the major role that this group plays.

Watch Negan and Maggie's conflict reach new epic levels in Season 11 of The Walking Dead. The series airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC and is available to stream early on AMC+.

'The Walking Dead' Season 11: Who Is Jacob Young and What Character Is He Playing?

Showbiz Cheat Sheet 01 September, 2021 - 08:23pm

For a show that deals with the apocalyptic world, The Walking Dead sure has had enough material and then some to work with. The show began with officer Rick Grimes waking up from a long coma only to find the world is taken over by zombies called walkers. The walkers are attracted to scents, and noise and they feed on humans.

At first, it seems as though the only way for a human to turn into a zombie is to get bitten by one, but later on, viewers learn that all humans have a pathogen that can cause mutation making it difficult to kill a walker. The only way to truly get rid of one is to cremate them or damage their brains.

The show’s 11th season is set to mark its end, although this wasn’t the original plan, as Collider reveals. In an interview with the publication, actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan who plays Negan Smith in the show, admitted that the news of season 11 being the final season shocked everyone involved in production.

Morgan said that the showrunners had a clear path they would take with the show after season 11 before they were all told they had to wrap the 11-year-old storyline in a way. The actor revealed that the new season would contain 24 episodes (the last confirmation stated there would be 22 episodes) which is enough to conclude the show’s storyline.

Although The Walking Dead is bowing out after 11 seasons on the air. It might not be the last time viewers will see most if not all of the cast and the walkers. Collider reports that a spinoff series that focuses on Carol Peletier and Daryl Dixon is in the works and is scheduled for a 2023 release.

Season 11 of The Walking Dead seems to be adding several new characters and bringing back some old ones. One of the additions to the lineup is actor Young. Although most of the latest additions are pulled straight from The Walking Dead comics, Young’s character Deaver isn’t. However, Insider reports that the name Deaver might be a codename for the actual character the actor might be playing.

The publication speculates that Young might either be Pamela Milton’s son Sebastian or a Reaper. Young was seen in recent set photos spotting a bearded look which leads The Walking Dead fans to theorize that he might be, in fact, a Reaper.

In case he looks familiar (even with the thick beard), it is because you might have seen Young in The Bold and the Beautiful and even more famously in All My Children. The actor played Rick Forrester in the former from 1997 to 1999 and even got nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for his performance.

Young then moved to General Hospital, where he played Lucky Spencer from 2000 until 2003, for which he won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series. In 2011, he reprised his role on The Bold and the Beautiful but in 2018 announced that he would be appearing as a recurring character.

Young also guest-starred in the 2004 film The Girl Next Door and in ABC’s Hope & Faith. He also appeared in Beauty and the Beast on Broadway, playing Lumiere.
