There’s a PlayStation Showcase this week, which means anyone with a Twitter account has heard inside information about the event from their Uncle who works at Sony. We’ve seen tons of stories flying on social media this weekend, including the prospect of a new Marvel title and so much more. The one that seems to have stuck is a rumour regarding inFAMOUS.

According to Xbox Era co-founder Nick Baker, Sucker Punch’s superhero series is in line for a comeback – but “take this one with a grain of salt”. He wrote on Twitter: “It’s one of the things I couldn’t get confirmed. But because I like the series I’m hoping it’s true. But there’s a chance we could see inFAMOUS make a return at Sony’s showcase. Fingers crossed.”

The wording of this message has us reaching for our Square button, because there’s a lot here to doubt. Baker points out multiple times that he hasn’t really been able to corroborate the story, and ends with a big old fingers crossed. Of course, that hasn’t stopped the post from being shared hundreds of times online, and reported on by dozens of websites.

Fans have since noticed that Sony recently renewed its inFAMOUS domain name, adding more fuel to the fire, but we’d guess this is a coincidence and is just a case of the platform holder protecting its property. We like inFAMOUS, but with Sucker Punch now working on Ghost of Tsushima and Marvel’s Spider-Man ticking PlayStation’s “exclusive super hero open world” box, it feels done to us.

Could it happen? Well, yes, of course – but this rumour hasn’t exactly convinced us.

Damn I hope not hated all of them so far 👎🏻.

Not the hugest fan of them but still solid titles I liked.

@Residentsteven Just don’t buy it then…? Is it not an unreasonable attitude to only want games commissioned to your tastes?

Yes please and Sly Cooper pretty please!

Honestly, I wouldn't mind a remastered collection of Infamous for the PS5. They could even hire back Bluepoint to remaster the first two Infamous games.

Sucker Punch working on Spiderman? Thats insomniac isnt it or have i missed something

i tried second son recently but something is completely off with the HDR..it's dark as hell and my tv is a calibrated oled..

I'm really just pulling for a remaster collection. Love those games, and I think they would take great use of the Dualsense.

This has made me realise that you hardly ever see people calling for more Infamous games*, like you do for e.g. Syphon Filter, Sly Cooper, Motorstorm, and others.

I thought Second Son was a really well made game, if a bit forgettable. I guess lots of people felt the same.

(* Same for the Killzone series too.)

@Danloaded yes that’s definitely wrong, to me sucker punch haven’t made a decent game since the sly series.

@SoulsBourne128 God, imagine wasting Bluepoint Games on an InFamous remaster. 😖

@Danloaded That’s not what the sentence says.

With a bit of re-working to elevate things away from the open world grind and the bland good/evil mechanic I could see a really good game coming from this series.

bring cole back, delsin sucked as a hero or the chick from last light

Yes please! Love the inFAMOUS games! If they plan to do a remaster of the first two games (my favourite) as a collection, I hope they include Festival of Blood. Really enjoyed that one too!

Man o man if this is true. Can you imagine Empire City with ray tracing, or Cole's power using a newer particle effect system like seen in Second Son?

I actually never played the first 2 so why not. I liked Second Son and First Light.

I imagine they'll do ghost of tsushima to death before returning to infamous.

@Barryburton97 Never had a PS3 so would love to try a Motorstorm title.

@LiamCroft Ah my bad i misread it lol

If more Infamous makes people happy, then ok rumor for them, but, to me, going back to Infamous from Ghost of Tsushima is a monumental and baffling step backwards.

I was going to say ‘inFamous Collection’ in my predictions for the Showcase. Would LOVE that. The first two (especially the second) games were something else. They kinda lost the magic/coolness in Second Son and First Light.

A wise man once said, don’t give me hope

That would be cool. Hope it's a new game, made for PS5 only, so they can go much further and crazier with the superpowers, mobility and destructibility.

@somnambulance "going back to Infamous from Ghost of Tsushima is a monumental and baffling step backwards."

So you want them to make GoT games from now until the end of time? Maybe turn GoT into something similar to Assassin's Creed where's there's hundreds of them?

I wanted them to do a new infamous next and used everything they've learned from GoT, after that they would continue Ghost.

@Beyondclem “Are you trying to present your own statements as ancient wisdom?” - Daenerys Targaryen, burner of everything.

Spider-man has nothing to do with it. Sure, it’s a superhero game, but they play so different. I’d much rather have inFamous than Spider-Man though. It’s not even a competition.

I love sequels, really do, but I am at a point in my life where I honestly prefer new Ips over sequels. But I would still LOVE to see a new Infamous, one of my favourite franchises!

Would love to see collected releases of some of the older franchises like this, Killzone and Resistance.

@Juanalf No, I’d like Sucker Punch to continue coming up with new and unique IPs with cinematically based storytelling. I understand that some people love Infamous, but, for me, Ghost showed a great deal more nuance and depth than I ever expected of the studio. As far as I’m concerned, Ghost of Tsushima’s story could be complete in one fantastic game, but I’m more interested in whatever other new ideas they may have.

@Jaz007 Same, but I'm really tired of collectables. Backpacks in Spiderman and Shards in InFamous. I can deal with some but nothing more than like 100 now.

I loved the ps3 games... I still have the ps4 ones and haven't played them. One day soon.

I enjoy the series but give me 👻 of Tsushima 2 please.

@nookie_egg Sounds better than video game powers, or whatever that third stupid power was you got in second son.

@fR_eeBritney not really more a man with arrows who let grief do the talking on bad guys

@Residentsteven. Why comment thinking people will agree with you.its a way better game than death stranding.😂.word up son

A Bluepoint PS5 remaster of the PS3 games (1, 2, Festival of Blood) in a complete bundle - YES PLEASE!!!

@Jayofmaya Yeah, not too many wild be good. inFamous isn’t nearly as bad as Spider-Man though. Honestly, Sucker Punch handles them a lot better and makes them more meaningful than make devs. GoT feels amazing when you collect stuff. Spider-Man feels like typical collect-a-thon without as much heart or thought behind it.

It'd be cool if Infamous made a long awaited return.

I really really liked the first game so I hope that it's true!

Id rather them do something new.

Best super hero ip before Spyderman. I loved 2 a lot, I like 1 and 3. But I'm up for a fourth one.

I put this on my unrealistic predictions earlier so if a brand new game or a remake is announced I'll be thrilled!

I'd love remasters of the first two games. I detest trying to stream PS3 games on PS Now.

@LiamCroft Hey, they're the only ones I know of who are competent on remastering haha.

Either that or a Legend of Dragoon remake from Bluepoint would be cool, but that's just wishful thinking.

@nookie_egg I honestly had an idea of an infamous rpg where you can play as an conduit and you have the choice to choose whatever power you like. Water, fire, speed, ice, lightning, vampirism, transformation, etc. I think it would be a good game for people to roleplay as their superhero oc lmao tho an infamous game where you play as Delsin, Abigail or Cole again would be cool too.

@SoulsBourne128 Other than FF7, best ps2 RPG. Am so up for that!

Eh, I'd much rather Sucker Punch return to Sly Cooper than Infamous.

Is Bluepoint only good at remastering stuff? Wouldn't you guys want to see them make a new IP than work on a decades-old game? Why not let them flex their creative muscles?

Edit: Never mind. I just checked them, and they seem to only do remasters. Carry on then. I say, let them remaster the game, although I would rather Sucker Punch make a new one with a new hero and new location.

@Jayofmaya Absolutely! Also, I think you were referring to PS1 right? 😅

@Royalblues bluepoint can easily make a new game , of course all they've done is remasters but that doesn't mean that's all they can do.

don't tease me , i would love a ps5 infamous game. and i feel like they've learned a lot from working on ghosts , that they could use in this game.

I'd be cool with this as well! This or Sly 5 would be a very welcome surprise! I can't imagine Sucker Punch would have the time to be the ones behind either of these things with how busy they have been with Ghost unless they expanded immensely but if they are some how behind either one even better!

@Korgon if there was another sly game i don't think sucker punch would do it, they didn't do sly 4 another team did.

Rumours on reddit of a possible Resistance remastered collection.

@SM1FFY01 nothing really too much to those rumors sadly , i would love to see it , but it feels like its just some guy posting fake rumors.

@SoulsBourne128 Auto correct hates ps1! Scold the auto correct!

@twitchtvpat Aye a lot of it going around at the moment.

Hold on there, you need to login to post a comment...

Shawn Layden Says He Left Sony Because He Was Burnt Out and Wanted to ‘Put the Pin in My Legacy’

PlayStation LifeStyle 06 September, 2021 - 08:20pm

Beloved former PlayStation executive, Shawn Layden, has said that he decided to leave Sony because he was getting burned out and wanted to “put the pin in my legacy.”

In a recent interview with Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, Layden delved into the reasons behind his departure for the first time. He stepped down as CEO of SIE Worldwide Studios in September 2019, which many saw as an abrupt move. Layden largely chose to remain silent, leading to speculations of a power struggle between him and current SIE CEO, Jim Ryan.

Interestingly, when Schreier quizzed Layden about the rumored face-off with Ryan, he neither confirmed nor denied anything – choosing instead to reiterate that it was time for him to step down.

“It’s a young person’s activity,” Layden said. “I felt: This is a good time to put the pin in my legacy. That seemed like a good time to step off on top and allow another generation to take the PlayStation 5 to market. I think I took my time at the moment I saw best to take it, and I couldn’t be happier.”

At the time of his departure, Layden had been serving Sony for over thirty years. He joined the company’s corporate communications department in Tokyo in 1987. Layden has previously said that the acquisition of Insomniac Games was one of his greatest career achievements.

In July, Layden announced that he has joined the advisory board of entertainment company, Streamline Media Group. Since leaving Sony, he has been a vocal critic of ballooning AAA budgets, calling them unsustainable.

Our PS5, PS4 Predictions for PlayStation Showcase 2021 - Feature

Push Square 06 September, 2021 - 08:20pm

We get the crystal ball out

You don't know how much we've been itching to write this feature: Sony has finally confirmed its big gaming showcase for Thursday and we've got predictions to share. The Push Square editorial team has come together to each reveal two predictions: one with a somewhat realistic chance of happening and another that's based on dreams rather than reality. These are the PS5, PS4 games we both expect and hope to appear during this week's PlayStation Showcase 2021.

Surely it’s time for an update on Naughty Dog’s online multiplayer game? It’s been well over a year since The Last of Us: Part 2 released, and the company has been aggressively hiring for the franchise’s online spin-off ever since. While I’ve been patiently waiting for this game, I think it’s finally time we got a glimpse into what the developer has planned; it recently said that it wants to make a “cinematic experience between players”. Outside of Gran Turismo Sport and MLB The Show, it’s been a while since Sony released a hit multiplayer game, so I’m both predicting and hoping we’ll get a taste of just what it’s been cooking behind-the-scenes.

This is probably going to be a cop out, and I can already feel the deathly stare of my colleagues’ eyes upon me, but I just want to be surprised. It’s been a year since the last PlayStation press conference, and while I’m enjoying my games at the moment, I feel like the industry has been really stale in 2021 as a whole. I understand Sony wants to announce games much later in their cycle now, but if this event focuses firmly on projects we already know about, then I think I’ll be disappointed. We’re nearing the anniversary of the PS5’s launch, and I think it’s important that Sony is able to wow us with known quantities like God of War: Ragnarok but also surprise us with projects we never saw coming.

If recent reports are to be believed, then Sony has been thinking about how to add value to its subscription services — particularly PlayStation Plus. It could be argued that Plus has needed a bit of an overhaul for a while, and this event could be the place to make potential adjustments a reality. That said, I don't think Sony will be implementing sweeping changes to the entire thing, but I can see it announcing additions or alterations. Just enough to sweeten the deal and refresh the service as we head into the PS5 generation proper.

Final Fantasy XVI is probably the most excited I've been for a new Final Fantasy game in around a decade or more — and that's because proven Final Fantasy XIV talent is at the helm. If we get anything on Final Fantasy XVI at Sony's event then I'll be happy, but the dream is for Square Enix to finally unshackle itself from the memes and actually release a video game in a timely fashion. Funnily enough, this concept might not be so farfetched. Just recently, Square Enix has said that the next time we see Final Fantasy XVI, it'll be a lot closer launch. On top of that, the game has supposedly been in development for years already — and it's apparently coming sooner than people think. March 2022, baby! Believe it!

Last June, Sony and Rockstar announced that Grand Theft Auto V, initially a PS3 game from 2013, will be "expanded and enhanced" on PS5 this year. That's right: a second remaster of a game approaching a decade old. I'm being a little facetious; GTA V is obviously an enormously popular game, partly thanks to GTA Online, so it makes sense to keep that train rolling. I think it's fairly reasonable to expect the PS5 version will appear in some form or other during PlayStation Showcase 2021.

As for what I'd love to see (but probably won't), right now I'm in the mood for MotorStorm. Bring it back, Sony. Whether it's a remaster or a brand new entry, I just want to be back in that space. Extreme off-road racing with mixed vehicle classes, arcadey handling, and breakneck speed — it's so much fun. With PS5's grunt and DualSense's awesome features, it could look and feel mind-blowing, too. Evolution Studios might be gone, but MotorStorm still has a chance. Please?

I'm a simple man this week: show me Gran Turismo 7 and I'm happy. I grew up obsessed with the PS1 and PS2 entries, and since Gran Turismo Sport took the racing series in a slightly different direction, I'm looking forward to the seventh mainline instalment going back to its roots. Give me those events. Give me those endurance races. I want to see them all in a new gameplay trailer focusing on both the driving and how the events are handled in the menus. Then finish the showing off with some sort of release window. I don't expect an exact date, but a specific month to look forward to would be appreciated.

It's five minutes before the end of the PlayStation Showcase and Jim Ryan reveals himself, taking centre stage. "Thank you for joining us for our latest look at the future of PlayStation 5. Your passion drives us to deliver the most cutting-edge titles, combining new ways to interact with best in class gameplay. From everyone here at PlayStation, we appreciate your support. Now, let me leave you with one more thing."

It's a Metal Gear Solid remake from Bluepoint Games. We see Shadow Moses. We see Revolver Ocelot, Otacon, and Solid Snake from various scenes throughout the game. It's targeting a launch in late 2022. A PlayStation Blog post shared shortly after the showcase clarifies that Sony has indeed acquired Bluepoint Games.

Those are some of our realistic and rather unrealistic predictions, but what are you both expecting and hoping from PlayStation Showcase 2021? Post your own PS5, PS4 predictions in the comment below.

That MGS image is making me nervous! I want it SO BAD. PLEASE

Im not going into this with massive expectations, but I always wish that my Sly Cooper Bros finally get a Sequel.

Bring kratos in and I'm sold

I am expecting for COD Vanguard information, Deathloop information, fnaf security breach information to happen in this showcase as well

If anything Silent Hill related exists this has to be the time to show it. Probably my dream prediction at this point but here’s hoping for SOMETHING horror related. Outside of that I think Naughty Dogs multiplayer game and GOW are pretty much a lock at this point.

My Prediction Is That We Will See Games.

I think this is going to be a good show with some unexpected tricks up their sleeves. A PS+ revamp would be most welcome and I just have a feeling that this is the occasion where it will be announced.

And while I don't expect it to happen, I'd love a legacy service for the old classics.

A surprise would indeed be nice - even if it's just a logo or quick announcement. I know they've only just released Returnal, but it would be cool to find out what Housemarque are going to do next now they've got full backing from Sony.

Whatever happens I just hope Sony can make a decent impression, not announce anything controversial or say anything stupid. I think we've all had enough bad news and outrage for a while.

a few of mine are pretty realistic , but it would include the new san deigo studio's game announcement with a teaser ( possibly new uncharted) , god of war game play trailer, blue point purchase and ps5 game announcement / teaser , naughty dog announces last of us ps5 mp game.

Realistic: Teaser for GOW. Gameplay for GT 7. One brand new IP (maybe from Studio Bend as they must be confident if Days Gone sequel was canned)

Unrealistic: Killzone or Resistance. Imagine they countered Halo with one of these.

Don't show me: Deathloop (I know it's coming). Kena (I know it's coming). More Directors cuts. (Let's dial that down and get new IPs)

Edit: I'm keeping expectations low. Kratos taught me well.

Realistic: More Horizon 2 gameplay footage.

Dream: New Uncharted with Nathan Drake as main.

unrealistic for me would be like remakes for the first jak and daxer , resistance fall of man , and infamous.

I’d like to see lots of weird stuff. Indies. Games requiring weird hardware attachments (maracas, power pads, etc). Indies being allowed to mess with PS franchises (HZD turn based?). More 2 player games. Stuff that is over-the-top joyful like Astro — maybe preview Team Asobi’s new thing. Stuff that connects your phone (in-world murder mystery?). Just go nuts. Don’t take everything so seriously. Playstation is a toy.

With the FFXVI team basically being the squad that brought us FFXIV Heavensward... There is a realistic chance they've been at work on it from around 2016/17 and those developers are a lean, mean team so a March 2022 release is well with reason - it'll all depend on how the Pandemic's railroaded JP VO recording.

I'm predicting at least the following:

All of that would be nice but what I really hope for is some Returnal DLC.

Im also rly interested in that after show bit with the Team Interviews and so on. I think thats the first time they do this

Love it haha! Particularly the MGS dream and Sammy's critique of not just seeing games we know are coming, but a complete surprise showstopper is exactly what Playstation fans need right now!

The only thing I want is Megaman Legends 1&2 remade and Megaman Legends 3 to come out in 2022 <3

If we get an MGS1 remake, we need remasters of MGS's 2, 3 and 4 as well.

GT7 is all I really care about from what's known. However, my dream reveal list is as long as it is unlikely to be realised, under the possibles are returns for Sly Cooper, Killzone and Syphon Filter, not to mention an MGS remake.

I'd like to see some stuff that finally makes me want a PS5. No idea what that is really, but it's definitely more than remasters and games I can still get on my PS4.

I predict bluepoint aquisition.and a new Japan studio forming at the g.o.a.t 👑 PlayStation.bluepoint making metal gear remake.god of war ragnarok trailer and a sly cooper game.either a collection or sly cooper 5 or collection.resistance collection. Dragon dogma 2 word up son

It was his new version of Silent Hill all along!!

Oh how we laughed, with tears of joy.

Realistic? People will moan about everything shown.

Hopefully some FF XVI, Hogwarts Legacy gameplay and Ragnarok gameplay dream announcement anything Sly Cooper or Legacy Of Kain related

Edit: I even forgot a teaser for Spider-Man 2.

@Shepherd_Tallon we do know that 2022 is going to be completely packed with major releases, one of the biggest gaming years ever. So I could see it with FF16 out before summer hits.

All I want is Bloodborne FPS patch.

I want a new Motorstorm too. One of my favourite series on the PS3. A shame it wasn't more popular imo

Im going for an announcement that bluebox's app has been updated during the stream.

No-one think it's time for a reveal of part 2 of FF VII Remake?

It would be really nice to be genuinely be surprised by something new that hasn't been rumoured or leaked for a change.

My prediction is that despite everything that has been said (or not said) and done with Sony we will see a show that reminds us all why Sony are the current market leader.

They did it last year with their showcase and I expect similar here.

I would love Silent Hill or MGS, a Infamous surprise and the Bluepoint acquisition news. Also they might buy Ember Lab too.

Something completely new from Naughty Dog please.

Not just a new Factions and not just another remaster/Remake.

Plus Death Stranding 2 with loads more walking. (Honestly)

@HUMPERDOO That’s exactly how I feel!

@Barryburton97 If anything, I’d expect a ‘Left Behind’ style DLC from Naughty Dog - probably with Lev as the main character.

FNAF Security Breach info would be awesome

TLOU 1 Remake x GOW Ragnarok x Forspoken=sold

They will show GTAV but we can only hope they don't spend too long on it. We don't need to see much for a game over a decade old. Right?

Silent Hill and I'll die happy. Been waiting for a proper Silent Hill game since 4

My realistic predictions are: God of War 5 gameplay, GT7 gameplay and trailer from the new Naughty Dog multiplayer game.

My dream predictions are: Metal Gear Solid Remake by newly acquired Bluepoint, New Fromsoftware exclusive game and a new Twisted Metal.

Side note: if I see a single Deathloop trailer I'm quitting the broadcast in that exact moment.

Anyone remember that Discord and Sony announcement a while back? Reckon we’ll learn what that’ll look like instead of communities.

I personally liked Shattered Memories and Downpour have you tried them?

Would love to see a "choose a title" option from a selection of games each month on ps plus. Oh and a remaster of Devil Dice.

I'd be up for a remake of MGS or Silent Hill.

A God of War 2 (or 5) trailer.

Something truly surprising, which noone could foresee.

Hopefully enough to please the majority on here.

@amenohi yeah, I've played all SH games, even that awful PS Vita one lol. The ones you said were OK games, but not very good Silent Hill games imo. But I'm glad you enjoyed them though ☺

Ragnarok and GT7 have pretty tight release windows if not dates. I think Factions is a no show. Forspoken deep dive with release window, MGS R announced by recently acquired Bluepoint. GTA5 footage, a new IP and hopefully Pragmata update

Okay, so in an ideal world, here’s what I’d really love to see from Sony on Thursday evening:

If any two or three of the above comes to pass, then I’m more than happy!

A GT7 release date would do me… PLEASE!

@Col_McCafferty I bet you go to bed and are tossing and turning worried that the next day there will possibly be someone complaining on the Push Square comments 😑

I'm with Sammy as I want to see something new, not just gameplay to stuff we already know about and god help us if they show Deathloop gameplay 😅

A MGS Remake from Bluepoint with the reveal Sony have bought Bluepoint would be huge.

@fR_eeBritney Dino Crisis is ripe for a Remake. But that's a Capcom thing to announce though, no?

@ArthurDent42 @Quintumply While I like the Motorstorm (Pacific Rift) logo, Evolution are dead - Sony killed them - and with them they took the PS' best arcade racers.

@itsfoz God I hope so, soon as that app/integration comes out I'll be moving my FFXIV sessions over to PS5 on't big telly.

My dream announcements are, and have been for many years, Playstation All-Stars 2, and a Bluepoint remake of God of War 1 and 2. Would be ecstatic about either of these, though I understand neither are realistic.

I'm hoping for GOW2 reveal - either trailer or gameplay or anything. And then at least two new things, don't have to be big, but I'd like to know what comes after the known quantities.

Realistic, cause rumors and scuttlebutt-- MGS remake from Bluepoint and maybe a new From Software exclusive?

Dream predictions-- Something Sly or Jak related and/or Sony Bend tackles a Wolverine game or reveal new IP

Just give me a GT7 without online DRM & a focus on single player like the good old days of GT.

I honestly have no idea what to expect, but would love to see something about Forspoken and FFXVI. And of course everything and anything Kojima. What my dream is, however, is to have a timeline for the big releases up through summer 2022. I would love to go back to purchasing one big game a month and being able to plan it like I used to.

Out of those I really wish Liam's dream scenario comes true. I'm 36 and I think I would actually get some tears rolling if I saw a MGS remake trailer, I absolutely adore that franchise.

I would love a new IP..

Motorstorm and GT7 would be perfect for me. No excuses not to show GT7 gameplay after all this time. I know Motorstorm is a forlorn hope, though😟

There's virtually no chance of it happening, but let one of the Sony studios have a go at the Order 1887.

The first game was too short and was missing a little something to take it to the next level but I really liked the setting and it feels like an IP that something could really be made of if given the chance.

But I don't think Sony is in the mood for giving things a chance unfortunately.

I think everyone has the realistic predictions covered already!

As for less likely reveals - I genuinely believe we are getting two, maybe three, out of the following four:

As for my dream thing to be there? Bloodborne II. Just announce that and I'll be happy.

I haven't been blown away from a Sony press conference since the one where GOW, Days Gone, and Spiderman was announced, so im going into this with extreme caution. We all tend to get way over excited for these pressers from Sony and usually are left lacking.

I'd be happy with footage of Ragnarok and Hogwarts, release dates for them plus Forspoken and GT7. Add some good PS Plus news for the cherry on top thanks

A new Ridge Racer game or Motorstorm please Sony

Here's Why PS4-PS5 Upgrades Are No Longer Free

Collider 06 September, 2021 - 08:20pm

Recently, the various versions of the new game were detailed, and it was revealed that upgrading from the PlayStation 4 to the PlayStation 5 version of the game would cost $10. The news of this upgrade change resulted in a huge backlash from fans, who at this point had become used to being offered these upgrades for their games for free. Shortly after the backlash, Sony reversed the decision, and will now be offering the upgrade for free. However, they also went into detail about their future upgrade plans.

Sony released a statement talking about their reversal of the Horizon Forbidden West upgrade, while also confirming that they will no longer support free upgrades for their first party titles, which will cost $10 to move from the Playstation 4 to the Playstation 5 version of the game going forward. President and CEO Jim Ryan said that since the game was originally meant to be released last year, that they will stand by the original offer of free upgrades for players who buy the Playstation 4 version of the game. He then went on to clarify their plans for the future.

"I also want to confirm today that moving forward, PlayStation first-party exclusive cross-gen titles (newly releasing on PS4 & PS5)–both digital and physical–will offer a $10 USD digital upgrade option from PS4 to PS5. This will apply to the next God of War and Gran Turismo 7, and any other exclusive cross-gen PS4 & PS5 title published by Sony Interactive Entertainment."

While the upgrades will no longer be free for Sony games, players will still be able to play the PlayStation 4 version of the games on their PlayStation 5, as the new console offers backwards compatibility. Whether or not this change will affect upgrades for third party games remains to be seen.

InFamous Series Return Hopes Sparked Following Rumor and Domain Name Update

Wccftech 06 September, 2021 - 12:18pm

Sony’s Sucker Punch Productions seem to be quite busy with Ghost of Tsushima at the moment, but could some sort of revival for their earlier InFamous franchise also be in the works? Online speculation that we may get some sort of announcement at the upcoming PlayStation Showcase has begun to bubble.

These rumors were kicked off by prolific leaker Shpeshal Nick/Ed, who claims we may see some sort of InFamous announcement at the PlayStation Showcase, although even he warns to take this particular rumor with a grain of salt…

Ok. Please take this one with a grain of salt because it’s one of the things I couldn’t get confirmed. But because I like the series I’m hoping it’s true. But there’s a chance we could see Infamous make a return at Sony’s showcase. Fingers crossed.

— Nick (@Shpeshal_Nick) September 5, 2021

To add a bit more fuel to the fire, the InFamous domain was recently updated by Sony.

Infamous project rumoured getting announced it at the upcoming Playstation Showcase.

So, if this ends up being the real deal, what kind of InFamous announcement can we expect? A full sequel seems unlikely given how occupied Sucker Punch is with Ghost of Tsushima, but I wouldn’t be shocked if we got a PS5 upgrade for InFamous Second Son. Or maybe even a remake of one of the earlier games in the series. Again, this is far from a lock, but we won’t have to wait too long to see if these rumors are true.

Hype has been steadily building for the upcoming PlayStation Showcase, with rumors of a God of War presence and “super announcements.” For their part, this is all Sony has said officially…

Tune in next Thursday, September 9 at 1:00pm Pacific Time / 9:00pm BST / 10:00pm CEST for a look into the future of PS5. The Showcase will weigh in at around 40 minutes and include updates from PlayStation Studios and some of the industry’s most imaginative developers, for games releasing this holiday and beyond. And stick around after the presentation to get more updates from some of the studio teams featured in the Showcase.

What do you think will be announced during the PlayStation Showcase? Could InFamous be returning in some form?

InFamous Series Return Hopes Sparked Following Rumor and Domain Name Update

SlashGear 06 September, 2021 - 12:18pm

To add a bit more fuel to the fire, the InFamous domain was recently updated by Sony.

Infamous project rumoured getting announced it at the upcoming Playstation Showcase.

Gran Turismo Sport Update to Come September 9

GTPlanet 06 September, 2021 - 10:20am

Somewhat out of the blue, Polyphony Digital has announced that there’ll be a new update to Gran Turismo Sport coming along this week.

Development of the PS4 title has seemed to be just about at an end for a little while now. So far this calendar year there’s been four updates, with two addressing changes to Sport Mode, one adding support for the Olympic Virtual Series, and one in July which added the Toyota GR86 ahead of a GR Toyota GT Cup round featuring the car. That’s one of just seven new vehicles added across 2020 and 2021.

However it’s clear that, while Polyphony Digital is likely very busy preparing the PS4 and PS5 version of Gran Turismo 7, GT Sport tweaks are still on the developer’s radar.

There’s no additional information in the announcement right now about what the contents of the update might be. We only know that it will push out to consoles at around the same time as an out-of-schedule maintenance period, slated for 0800-1000 UTC on September 9.

That does mean that GT Sport will be updated just ahead of the PlayStation Showcase which we’re expecting to reveal some more information on the impending GT7. It could suggest that the update will include media timed to unlock at the appropriate point on Thursday, though it may just be a coincidence of timing.

With the absence of any further promotion from the usual sources — such as Kazunori Yamauchi’s customary silhouette teaser images — the most likely result of this update is adjustments to Sport Mode.

In recent weeks, regular online players will have noticed a loosening of the punishments for driving that might make them look bad, with time penalties and even Sportsmanship Ratings seemingly barely affected by unfriendly contact. The update may address this, or bring in fresh BOP calculations.

We’ll keep you up to date with the status of the update, and bring more information when we have it.

See more articles on GT Sport Game Updates.

As a certain chancellor once said, “A surprise, to be sure – but a welcome one.”

It’s time for some good news .

You can buy GT 7 when it launches but can only play on Mondays, with a $50 fee for each additional day of the week. You can buy a yearly pass for $499 – however, that’s for the PS4. You’ll need to pay for it all again if you upgrade to the PS5 version with a “next gen surcharge” of only $150. We look forward to making more money from you in the near future. See you on the track, actually see you at the Bank first then the track..

My hope is it’s a little bit of content to get people excited for GT7

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that this update is coming on the same day as the showcase. I think more GT7 info will be disclosed there, too.

Please please please let it be the penalty fix…too much shoving and punting with zero effect on sportsmanship.

I would guess and only a guess that a teaser video for GT7 will be included. I would love a new track. Any track and I mean any track. Thats the only thing bumming me about Sport right now. But who knows what it might be. Just some tweaks most likely.

But they should roll out rainy-condition for more tracks!

It’s a lollipop for the people crying about GT7

Well in that case I hope it’s grape flavoured. Love me some grape lollipops. Hehe
