ORANGE is the New Black star Uzo Aduba is hearing wedding bells after announcing she secretly wed Robert Sweeting last year.
The actress made the stunning marriage announcement on Sunday, September 12.
Sweeting is a filmmaker who is married to the In Treatment actress.
Aduba tends to keep a low profile when it comes to her personal life.
However, she posted on her Instagram on Sunday, September 12 that she was very much in love.
"'When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.' - When Harry Met Sally," she wrote in her post.
"For some of us, it can feel like we spend our whole lives waiting for our special someone.
"You're the best thing that ever happened to me," she concluded.
The post included a photo of her and Sweeting that appeared to be on their wedding day.
Sweeting also posted about his wife on his Instagram.
"One year ago I married this gorgeous, talented and incredible woman," he wrote.
"This past year has made me appreciate the fragile nature of life and the importance of living it.
"At a time where the world is upside down, we learned to find joy and peace in each other. You are the greatest person I know and I'm proud to be your husband," he concluded with a happy anniversary hashtag. The post also included a few pictures of the happy couple.
According to People, the couple said "I do" with a ceremony in New York.
Boston-born actress Aduba rose to fame after playing Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren on the hit Netflix show, Orange is the New Black.
Before she was an actress, she attended Boston University on an athletic scholarship.
Uzo moved to New York and first garnered recognition in a 2003 production of Translations of Xhosa.
Since rising to fame, Aduba has been high in demand. She has starred in the hit miniseries, Mrs America with Cate Blanchett. She played Shirley Chisholm.
Shirley was the first black woman to be elected to Congress and to run for the Democrats' nomination for president, in 1968 and 1972 respectively.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Uzo said: "Some of the issues that are discussed on the show and in that time in history [have] a lot of sharp echoes to today."
She said the show was rooted in truth where possible.
"You want to make sure that it's really rooted in something and not surface and not too many liberties were taken," she explained.
She currently stars in HBO's In Treatment.
Aduba reportedly has a net worth of $1million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
Aduba has been nominated for a number of awards including Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild Awards.
