You Pod to Win the Game

With an improved logo for the 2021 season, Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes looks to have struck gold for his Adidas partnership. The new iconography, which has several symbolic elements woven together into one, will be used on every nature of Adidas products from duffel bags to sneakers.

While some parts of the logos are the same, including references to his initials and name suffix, the new version has a sleeker design and more subtle motifs. A more minimalistic style, the improved design is based on a gladiator helmet. From his reveal video announcement on Twitter, Mahomes alluded to the helmet being symbolic of a “winning mindset.” Meanwhile, the outside lines that form the “M” are an allusion to his signature flex celebrations on-field. The middle line on the logo, which serves as the stem of the “P” and the detail for the helmet, is angled at the top to symbolize his suffix at the 2 o’clock position, 2PM, or Patrick Mahomes II.

From a 50,000-foot view, some of the motifs in the logo might be hard to pick out, but the intent and structure of the elements at play are clear when pointed out. It’s worth noting, Mahomes’ No. 15 is not part of either the new or old logo designs.

Despite some disdain for the new look on social media, Mahomes seems confident in his new branding tool. It is unclear if the logo will become a part of the larger identity of the 15 and Mahomies foundation, or find a niche somewhere in the Chiefs’ zeitgeist at Arrowhead Stadium. It is clear that this new design is here to stay in collaboration with Adidas and will soon become synonymous with the star quarterback.

The story of the Buccaneers offseason was that they brought back all of the key players from last season’s Super Bowl champs, which didn’t leave them much room or need to bring in players from outside the organization. While there aren’t splashy new names on the roster, there is one notable name who wasn’t around [more]

Ravens add another wide receiver to roster, waive tight end

Margera claims he was subjected to "psychological torture" by being forced to sign a wellness agreement to star in "Jackass Forever."

When news first broke of the contract given to quarterback Josh Allen by the Bills, one of my first questions was whether quarterback Lamar Jackson or the Ravens should or would want the exact same contract to solve their situation. Once the details became available, I developed an opinion on the matter: Jackson should want [more]

Boeing Co said on Tuesday it handed over 28 airplanes to buyers in July as revived domestic travel fuels 737 MAX deliveries, but the U.S. planemaker's 787 remained in inventory for a fourth month due to defects. The closely watched monthly orders and deliveries snapshot comes as Boeing bids to recoup billions of dollars in lost sales from the coronavirus pandemic, and move beyond the safety scandal caused by two fatal 737 MAX crashes. Of the aircraft Boeing delivered to airlines and other buyers in July, 22 were 737 MAX single-aisle jets, one was a P-8 maritime patrol aircraft for the U.S. Navy, and the remaining five were widebodies.

Nissan says its huge factory in Smyrna, Tennessee, will close for two weeks starting Monday due to computer chip shortages brought on by a coronavirus outbreak in Malaysia. The shutdown is among the longest at any U.S. auto plant of this size since the semiconductor shortage, which has hobbled auto production worldwide, started to hit late last year. Nissan said Tuesday that it ran short of chips due to a COVID-19 outbreak at a chip factory in Malaysia.
