Smith worked a dark match at last night's SmackDown tapings, teaming with Austin Theory in a match against Odyssey Jones and Xyon Quinn.

Johnson's report claims that Smith had signed with WWE back in March, but that the signing was kept quiet until Smith officially made his in-ring return.

The son of "British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith, Harry Smith began wrestling as a child, and made his professional debut in 2000, at age 15. He signed to WWE developmental in 2006, and appeared on secondary programs intermittently in 2007 and 2008.

In 2009, Smith began teaming with Hart family in-law Tyson Kidd as The Hart Dynasty, managed by Kidd's future wife Natalya. They held the WWE Tag Team titles for five months in 2010. The Dynasty split later that year, and Smith was released in August of 2011.

Since then, Smith has reigned as both IWGP and NWA Tag Team champion multiple times with Lance Archer, and shared the MLW Tag Team titles with Teddy Hart and Brian Pillman Jr.

WWE SmackDown Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from July 16

Bleacher Report 16 July, 2021 - 06:30pm

WWE welcomed back its friends to the show that never ends Friday on SmackDown, the first live event in front of a full capacity crowd since the COVID-19 pandemic and, more importantly, the go-home edition of the blue brand ahead of Sunday's Money in the Bank pay-per-view.

The spectacle featured a blockbuster main event as Universal champion Roman Reigns teamed with Jimmy and Jey Uso to battle Edge, Rey and Dominik Mysterio in a six-man tag team match.

That contest headlined a broadcast that also featured the brand's four entrants in the men's Money in the Bank ladder match and a defense of the women's title by Bianca Belair.

What went down on the monumental and much-anticipated Fox broadcast?

Find out now with this recap of the July 16 show.

The only negative? The segment was too short.

This was good. Way better than it probably had any right to be, especially since it was thrown together following Bayley's injury. Kudos to both women for delivering big time.

Backstage News On WWE Returns Planned For The Coming Weeks

Wrestling Inc. 16 July, 2021 - 03:45pm

WWE officials reportedly have several returns lined up in the coming days and weeks, in addition to the returns that have been reported on.

It was reported today by Fightful Select that the company is “all hands on deck” right now with the return to touring and with welcoming fans back. There are said to be several returns planned, even beyond what has been outright reported as of late.

There are people within WWE who have been advised to make their best pitches over this period. While many of the returns are poorly kept secrets, people have been advised that the rosters will be “suped up” in the coming weeks.

As we’ve noted, there’s been a feeling that WWE decided to save multiple top returns for the return to touring with fans back in the crowd.

John Cena is rumored to return on next Friday’s SmackDown to begin the SummerSlam build for the match with WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. Possible Big Return Spoiler For Tonight’s WWE SmackDown

Wrestling Inc. 16 July, 2021 - 03:12pm

Finn Balor is now rumored for a main roster return on tonight’s WWE SmackDown from Houston, Texas.

It was teased this afternoon by @Wrestlevotes that tonight’s SmackDown on FOX “will be #2Sweet & #4Everyone [shushing face emoji] [X emoji x 3]”

This appears to be a reference to Balor.

Balor has been away from the main roster since his SummerSlam 2019 loss to “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt, when he was a member of the blue brand roster. He has worked the WWE NXT brand since October 2019, but has not been seen since dropping the NXT Title to Karrion Kross on the May 25 show.

It’s been reported that WWE has several surprises planned for this weekend as they return to touring. You can click here for a possible major return spoiler for Sunday’s Money In the Bank pay-per-view.
